Mostly west and slightly north of Chicago, Century Oaks sits 41 miles from the Loop in Chicago – an easy drive down Interstate 90. Great for families with children, the Century Oaks neighborhood houses a number of great schools. For even the farthest house in the neighborhood, the students would only need to make a quick half-mile walk through the safe neighborhood to get to and from school.

Property Ratings at Hunter Ridge Apartments
The office staff, Sally and Lesly, are always really helpful! Its not a giant skyscraper apartment complex. It feels more like a neighborhood community. The apartments are clean and well maintained. Never had to have maintenance come out for anything. Most of the bad reviews I read on here have to do with poor tenants, not poor management. Some people are just incapable of being satisfied.
The single bed and bath is quite large and perfect! Management is extremely helpful in handling a rough neighbor situation.
I am so unhappy with this place. Staff is often rude and I’ve had them hang up on me. So many things in my “rehabbed” apartment are falling apart. Door hinges falling off, multiple faucets have had leaks multiple times, cabinets are on crooked. They don’t take care of the building’s hallways either. Completely infested with bugs constantly. Outdoor maintenance is a joke. Flooding everywhere when it rains, pools of water on sidewalks making them horrible to use when it’s raining or in the winter because they ice over. Broken tiles in the hallways that never get fixed. Absolutely no urgent responses from maintenance even when you have a leak in your apartment. I’ve been asked multiple times if someone can come tomorrow when I have an active leak! Biggest problem is that they will not allow you to break your lease for any reason at all. Get relocated? Can’t break it. Most places allow you to pay some sort of fee but not this place. You are stuck! No matter what. I wish I never moved in here.
Even loyal tenants who always pay on time get no sympathy, no flexibility, and just no respect like the rest of the rental population that this management company spits on. Zero compassion during COVID, TENANT'S GET ZERO RESPECT, and they will try to suck every last penny out of your security deposit. If you wonder why they always have a lot of vacancy, that's why.
I love my new 3 BR apartment, the pool, the facilities, the location, and I love the service and attention of the personal and lease center staff!!! Thanks for Everything
I live for many years there is terrible service from the manager sally there are already 4 residents who complain about the manager
Property Manager at Hunter Ridge Apartments, Responded To This Review
While we appreciate you taking time to post a review, it would be helpful if instead of calling someone "terrible" even though you have lived here for many years, you would edit or delete your post to include why you are unhappy. I gather that Sally happened to give you information about a clause in your lease that you are in violation of or looking to violate and were unsatisfied with the response. If there is some way we can assist you further and help make your stay a more enjoyable one, please contact our office and ask for the regional managers information. Thank you!
I've been a tenant here since 2013. I was here with previous management and things were great. A new management company has since taken over and things are even better! They have put in a lot of work through out the property and have made great improvements! I was originally in a non renovated 1 bedroom apartment and after 3 years, transferred to a renovated 2 bedroom apartment. Love the vinyl flooring and carpet in the bedrooms. Huge plus is that units have washers and dryers inside the apartments! The outside of the buildings may look "old" but don't let that stop you from moving here because the apartments themselves are just beautiful! Maintenance here is the best! Any work order I've had, they have tended to almost immediately if not within 24 hours at latest! They are friendly and professional. Office staff is very pleasant to work with! They are always there to help and anytime I have been in there they greet you and are super friendly and approachable! I've seen people walk in and always get greeted by name, it shows how attentive they are and they actually care about you as a tenant. They also have a lot of event in the clubhouse for tenants to enjoy, from pizza nights to Christmas parties! I do a lot of online ordering and my packages are always safe here! Packages get dropped off at the leasing office for you to pick up. There's a fenced in dog run and a 24 hour fitness center! The fitness center has been a little run down but I just noticed a sign today that it is undergoing renovations too! So that is super exciting! Also this morning they were filling all the potholes (they were HUGE) around the property. People usually only take time to write negative reviews when they are unhappy with something. I wish people would give more credit where credit is due. I will definitely be renewing my lease here as this is a great place to live!
I have tried contacting the manager all week amd she (Sally) is not available ever. I leave my name and number everytime for her to call back. Im assuming she is incompetent and doesn’t truly understand how to do her job. They are also very overpriced with poor quality. Do yourself a favor and don’t rent here.
You pay a lot of money for bad service. If you want to live in a place where the leasing office realizes you're a CUSTOMER who pays them your hard-earned money each and every month and cares about your enjoyment and cares that you have a harmonious living situation, don't move here. You will not find good srevice here. For the high price tag you get: AWEFUL SERVICE. If you feel you can deal with that just to have an upgraded apartment, then consider this place. There's plenty of vacant units and they'll be happy to quickly write up a lease for you
I've been living in Hunters Ridge for 3 years now. My building is clean and quite and I love the ladies in the leasing office.
These apartments are wonderful. The staff are welcoming and the complex is very well maintained. In general Hunter's Ridge is a very friendly complex. It is a great place to live if you have dogs. The apartments themselves are beautiful and located fairly close to downtown elgin. I would recommend these apartments to everyone.
One of the great things about Hunter's Ridge is the location. It is right near several main streets that can take you anywhere throughout the suburbs. You are within 10 minutes from pretty much any grocery store, restaurant, doctors/hospitals, and anything else you may need. You are also a two minute drive from I-90, which will get you to Chicago, and then anywhere between Boston and Seattle! The office staff are always very pleasant to speak with and work with, I do have concerns, but I will get to them further down. I was having some issues keeping up with rent at one point, and after speaking with them about the situation, they were really willing to work with me in getting caught up. The apartments themselves aren't bad overall. I personally feel that I pay too much for what I am getting, and have gotten that impression from several other residents as well. The kitchen is a little small and outdated. I am glad it does have a dishwasher, though! I was fortunate enough to get one of the apartments that has a washer and dryer in unit, not all do however, so be sure to ask before getting the room. Another thing to consider is that the complex is right across a busy street from a fairly busy train track. I will say I'm somewhat close to the street and hardly hear either the trains or the traffic, but I can't speak for the residents that live along the street. My biggest issue with Hunter's Ridge is the lack of communication from the office staff. I will attempt to give the Reader's Digest version...A few months back, on a Saturday, the water main outside of my building burst, however it was almost 24-hours without water before anyone from the office called us to explain what was going on. At that point it was said, "if you can afford it, stay at a hotel and we will take the cost off your rent"..Nice sentiment but there are several people that couldn't afford it and would be without running water. I fortunately had a brother nearby to stay with for a few nights. After that first call, I didn't hear from them again until I called them on Tuesday to see about the water being back on, at which point they told me they had rented out a bunch of rooms at a local hotel. Again, had I not called THEM, I would have been completely unaware of this. The water wasn't back on until Thursday, and I never once spoke with them without having to call them and leaving several voicemails. Overall, it's not a bad place to live, but I can guarantee there are better
it is a place where you look out the window and say "Summer is beautiful." I love the trees, hills and true green grass. The neighbors are great, the staff is excellent and accommodating. My three year old son loves this place, he love running up and down the hills, going to the pool and the playground. I don't have to drive to a park anymore. It's all outside my door! Safety is important as well and we definitely feel safe here. The parking is excellent especially if you have guests over. There is vast parking within the park. It is my sanctuary and my sanity.
