Newark’s dominant landmark and cultural hub is undeniably the University of Delaware campus, where the student body nearly matches the city’s population of permanent residents. Accordingly, many of the community’s resources are tailor-made for the collegiate crowd: an eclectic mix of restaurants and nightlife venues lines Main Street on the north side of campus, and affordable apartments are easy to find anywhere in town.
Despite the fact that it is primarily a college town, Newark maintains a diverse population with rental options available to suit any lifestyle. The sprawling nature preserves that border the northern end of the city provide gorgeous settings for hiking, camping, canoeing, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. Just thirty minutes from Wilmington, Newark also makes an excellent home base for commuters.

Property Ratings at HUNTERS CROSSING
The maintenance takes forever to come out and fix stuff. I moved in during winter time and had no working heat. I put in work orders almost every week and they didn’t come out to fix it until the end of winter so I was basically freezing all winter. Same thing with the ac during the summer time. They didn’t fix it until August. IMO these apartments are not worth the price they ask for. They are definitely not luxury, I can tell you that

Hi Carlos, thank you so much for sharing your experience. We’re so happy to hear you are enjoying your home and environment!
Painted tub, roaches in apartments and in the hallways, swarms of wasps in the summertime (they don't have anybody remove the hives),squirrels in the walls, no heat all winter (called multiple times) non working AC, no washer and dryer inside units (the washer and dryer costs $1.75 each and they barely ever work), no garbage disposal, no linen closet, bad pipes and leaky ceiling in the bathroom never fixed or repaired (called multiple times), rude and inconsiderate maintenance and rental office staff. Too many cons and not enough pros for the price.

This is absolutely the worst place you could ever live! The doors allow mice and other bugs to get inside your apartment, I’ve been calling over six months to get my ceiling fixed, which leaks water from the top also the toilets and the sinks all leak, and have foam and different stuff to come up through all the sinks! absolutely disgusting! air conditioner doesn’t work as well! Terrible response from Management! You can never get a hold of anybody and each time you get a different phone number to call. Absolutely Terrible living conditions

So far I had experienced warm and friendly smiles in the beginning of signing this lease with my roommate. However, as days went on trying to call the place for either simple questions or any concerns I may have was near to impossible. They NEVER pick up the phone and when I went to the office in person I can see they are just standing there letting the phone ring. The second issue I had was safety… not only did we have to call the police for any issues that occurred but for the price we are paying in rent, you would think hunters crossing would install security cameras to at least make us feel safe. I lastly have another issues with communication, I find it very unprofessional that no one returns your call after leaving a voicemail and good luck sending them an email. Moving out of the apartment still seems close to impossible no matter what documentation they give, you have to jump through hoops and basically be on top of them to make sure they are doing their job. Other places that are cheaper but have more amenities then this place has better customer service then Hunters Crossing. I do not recommend this place and noticed once you sign the lease it’s hard to get out. The only good thing I got out of it was maintenance they fixed any issue I had within a few hours or within that same day.

All in all this is not a terrible place. I have had some issues but maintenance jumped right on them quickly. The maintenance manager Ivan made sure everything was handled, you can tell he has been there for a while. He was so helpful

I like to walk so I really like that it is quiet so I can think. My spot suits my needs. Quiet and easy to access. The people in the office are helpful and maintenance comes to my apartment and helped me when my breaker tripped.

I enjoy my apartment and have really made it a home. My closet space is gigantic and I converted it into office space/sitting area and turned my second bedroom into a beautiful walk in closet! Thankfully I moved in before COVID and I was able to decorate and order online to make this place my own. It’s super cozy. It’s like a nice little spa oasis in here and in the summer I really love the pool! It’s perfect for natural sun bathing!!!! My little fur baby loves to walk and mingle with her little buddies when we go out for walks and it’s always quiet here. Only thing I wish we had is wash and dryers in the apt.

Office staff never responds to maintenance calls. Pests all in laundry room. Not acceptable rate to pay for apartment for what you actually get.
I'm just going to assume the office staff no longer exist because I've been calling every day to inquire about units for a week. What a joke.

The space is nice when you first moved in but I slowly started to notice a whole Building infestation! It’s sad that they still move people in here! They get a exterminator to set traps but it only made is worse smh. They are everywhere. Kitchen, living, and bathroom! I have lived here for a year with 2 kids and I’m running out of here! DON’T MOVE HERE!

Hunters Crossing has some of the most down to earth yet professional staff on the team. I enjoy living here and let me also mention I love the closet space that I have....that is what peaked my interest, but the the good customer service from the ladies in the leasing office is what sealed the deal. You get what you pay for and I am glad I chose here :)

Nice atmosphere. Apartment cheaply made with old appliances. Management is often unhelpful. No bugs though. Can always find a parking spot. Location is great.

If you can afford it, go somewhere else. They don’t care about your maintenance requests, dump of a place, trash customer service.

Honestly, when my husband and I moved in a few years ago it was not that bad of a place to live. Yes, the apartments are cheaply made (VERY, but, for the price, it was something we could deal with. It's a decent size apartment and the living room is pretty big. However, about 6 months after we moved in, the problems started to happen. Loud neighbors who constantly partied outside and still do. Children running around and in between cars with NO supervision. Strangers loitering around. Trashy people EVERYWHERE. Everything slowly went downhill and it's at a point where we can NOT wait to move out. People constantly party out back on the grass until 2 a.m. and its not just one or two people, its legitimate parties, every weekend. We've complained to the office and they still do nothing about it. I will say that maintenance is very on top of everything when something breaks and they are helpful, however, overall, this is not a place I would want my kids at. It's not necessarily unsafe- but, it's a very trashy place with very unappealing and uncivilized characters. We've also had issues with bedbugs and black mold.
When I moved in I though this place was decent until the constant on slaught of Bed Bugs eating me and my kids at night. Then I found this crumpled, balled up piece of paper in the cabinet above my fridge stating this apartment was treated for Bed Bugs a few days before I moved in. They could of had the decency to tell us.
This place is terrible, for the quality of the apartment you have, it is way too expensive (880 /mo). My air conditioning barely cools down my home, even with all the windows shut and curtains down. People are constantly playing music very loudly in the parking lots, there are always cops in the neighborhood. Just the other day there was a cop walking around with an exposed assault rifle! Kids were outside. Oh and the people around here with Honda's have to keep an eye on their cars because 3 people in my general area have bent license plates because someone was trying to steal them. They have a pet deposit, and pet restrictions but don't follow them. The pet deposit is 250, but I don't feel I need to pay it because I moved in to roaches and a very unclean apartment. I've been here three months and I'm still cleaning up after the maintenance people. I was made sign an affidavit to not have pit bulls (because my fiancee had a pit in his face book profile picture. A dog that died a few months prior to cancer.), or we would be removed from the premise and evicted. But our neighbors have a pit bull. A very unfriendly one at that. I put in a ticket almost a month ago to fix my AC, no one has showed up. And if someone shows up for maintenance they don't knock before unlocking your door any walking in. The front desk people are very rude, like the leasing officer. She is rude and speaks down to her residents. This place is terrible to live in. I repeat, do not live here. I wish I did less than a year here because honestly the first three months have been torture.
After only looking for 2 weeks for a new place, I found an apartment that was big enough for my 3 children and myself. Not to mention one that fit my budget. Hunter's Crossing has everything from a pool to a fitness center, and laundry facility in each building. The friendly staff has made the transition so much easier.
For this being my very first apartment on my own, it's actually really enjoyable. I love that it's located right by Kirkwood Highway where there's stores and gas stations close by so it's not a hike to pick up a few things. Plus there is a pool and a jogging trail along with a fitness center which sure doesn't give anyone any excuse not to use them.
