Property Ratings at Huntington Cove Apartments
Apartments are overpriced for how old the buildings are. Ever since Covid, they keep leaving notices that they will be doing work in the apartments, but there is no evidence of work being done. The hall way lights are on some sort of timer that apparently no one knows how to set, it’s really fun coming home to a farm building at 11 pm. The longer running annoyance has been the main entrance to the apartments off Mississippi St, it tends to flood when there is a heavy rain. They have done work in the past and it was clear for a while, but recently, ever since July 2023, the main entrance has been completely flooded. Rather then doing anything about it, they just put up signs saying that the entrance is closed but most people ignore them and drive through the water because the other entrance off Colorado Ave is closed for construction north of the apartments.

I have only been here a month with my boyfriend but we love it. The space is great for the price you're paying. They take care of plowing and shoveling so I don't need to worry. The office staff is very friendly and helped me with all my concerns during the leasing process. Hope they continue this great service for the duration of our lease.

I have to say I took a tour yesterday of these beautiful looking apartments and just I say it looks exactly like that pictures very peaceful , the women in the office were friendly very informal .. the apartment Brittany showed me was outstanding carpet was clean asl .... wash n dryer brand new ... I can’t wait to move in
ive visited this apartment complex and it looks just like the pictures, i went in to this place not knowing if this was going to be a bad experience or not but it end of being a great experience and nobody paid me to say so this is real facts. i was going to go based off the comments but o viewed it myself and took video of everything. i love it but if your picky about updated cabinets than this is not the place for u. but i love that they have washer and dryer in every apartment and french doors on the 1st floor. i cant wait to move in.
I didn't get to see the apartment much in the light when I first viewed it. I would have noticed all the large cracks in the corners/baseboards of the walls. Surprising that I didn't stumble over red spiders or red centipedes then either. I also have silverfish in the bathroom. Mostly the centipedes and spiders like the bedroom. I know I didn't bring them either. They sprayed less than two weeks ago, and I am still having pest problems. However, when I complain about a maintenance problem, they are usually quick to resolve it. (Now if I can get rid of these spiders/silverfish/centipedes...I'd be a happy "camper")
If you can please stay away as far as you can from this place. I normally don't write reviews but i just recently came out of a year lease with Huntington Cove and it started out Good, until i noticed i kept losing things like money i was sure i put on the table important documents that included my birth certificate and SS card. something told me to put a hidden camera in my apartment just for monitoring then one day as i am going through the recordings, i noticed that someone was in my apartment going through my things and i did not authorize anyone to be there. I contacted the leasing office and filed a police report. A few days later i get a letter in the mail stating that there authorized personnel can enter the apartment without consent of the Rentor and that it was stated in the contract. Yea well this is my last year here SMH !!
Few people do anything anymore without research. I urge you to scour as many reviews as possible . The reason i say this is because an office staff told me they were required to post POSITIVE COMMENTS! on all apartment sites as part of their job requirement. if you see a review from anyone claiming to have lived there for years with glowing reviews amidst an overwhelming negative sentiment, its most likely the office staff. The compound is fairly clean but during the winter, snow removal and de-icing are rarely done. I was robbed twice and both times i had just left to go to a restaurant to eat. Whisper, whenever talking about leaving your apartment to go out because the maintenance staff are always listening. They must have cleaned me out in 20-30 minutes. The Police said it was a 2-3 man job and they had access. This meant that they either had keys or i left my door wide open for them. I will let you come to your conclusion on that, because i was robbed twice. So unless i love getting robbed why would i leave my door open to burglars when leaving, not once but twice. pls wait till you move away from here to buy anything expensive. The office is run like a gang. I have had the valve stems for my car cut so my tires would go flat, right after i called them complaining about a terrible sewage-type odor coming from my air-conditioner. the more i called the worse the incidents were. last summer my AC unit outside was unplugged and the office said it was kids playing around. These kids surely love slashing MY tire stems and unplugging ac units right after i call and complain to an irritated staff . As for the bugs smh lol they range from your regular ants and millipedes to water beetles aka roaches and hordes of gnats. It does not matter if you are living on the second first or third floor. Finally LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS and keep your car parked near your window . The police dept has been on the lookout for burglars since i moved in till i left. Basically if after reading this and other reviews, Huntington cove strikes you as somewhat okay then my friend you are like ME (a recovering skeptic). The only review i wanted before i moved in was mine. Pls understand these are "no rotten tomatoes movie review". These are people (renters) who stayed for a year due to a contract and are under no obligation to do anything (write comments) other than leave. This is a community effort to stop this place from continuing its tenant abuse.

Do you know that UNEASY feeling you get when your in a dark room in a strange place and you cant leave. Welcome to HUNTINGTON COVE. Where we write beautiful descriptions online and tease you with pictures of the exterior property. Once you sign the lease, you can cuddle up with your loved one next to our moldy bathrooms and patios, human excrement odors blowing out of your heater to warm you up and a 5 star maintenance with specialties in breaking and entering, stealing insulting, awkwardly staring and absolutely no regard for privacy. Our office staff will hear all your complaints and file them under whiny tenant. i know the paragraph above seems implausible. I mean they cant be that bad ?They would have been shut down. right ? Wrong The entire paragraph is rated PG. I wish i could post pictures and audio recordings of my interactions with these people. Thats all R rated. STAY AWAY OR I hope you have good health insurance you will need it.
if you want a straight forward review this is it.. I moved in, i was robbed, paid 20% more in rent every time my lease was almost up, snow removal doesn't qualify as removing snow, disrespectful staff, dubious maintenance and ridiculous wait times for even the smallest issues.. if you move here after doing a good amount of research then i guess nothing would have stopped you. if you paused your apartment searching to read this, stop here and click on another apartment complex. I am a disabled combat veteran, U.S Army Military Police on a fixed income, who is un able to move more than 20lbs at a time. They wait til 4 weeks before your renewal time to send you a rent increase in the mail of unknown amount. If you don't call them they increase your rent month to month which is more than a mortgage on a single family home. The Owners knowing my medical issues, I was taken advantage of. For 3 years I lived here when asked,I was not given a Military/Veterans discount. I was told I am a civilian. Talking with other Government working residence(s) all of them were given a discount reward on rent, but not the combat disabled veteran. These apartments are a cycle of American Poverty against the American Family's who work hard to support their children. I moved here in 2012, I have a service animal which caused a lot of problems with the office and managers. The owners requested a medical slip for the reasons why I have a service animal in the apartment by my V.A Dr..in crown point. My medical information was stored in a file cabinet in the managers office building, which was shared with all the office employees, and anyone who opened my lease agreement folder. These Cabinet Folders are un locked, in the middle of the office floor. They keep a record of complaints in your folder that holds your leases annual income and financial documents (personal" papers.) As for Harassment I have been followed by neighbors in vehicles who would slow down and take pictures of me with my service animal. Even walking down the street with my dog was a challenge without being stopped and questioned. IF YOU ARE A Military member or work for a governmental agency, I highly advise you brother and sisters to not be taken advantage of. Stay far away from these people and ignorant owners' as possible. Know in the state of INDIANA landlords can charge any amount of rent they feel freely. Once you are locked in and move in, every year when re newal comes your lease will rise $50-$100 monthly, every time!!! Its about the money, they don't care about anything else. This is a great location if you enjoy shopping and restaurants. The apartment buildings are kept up nicely with beautiful scenery. We've been here for three years and have no plan on leaving anytime soon!
Huntington Cove Apartments sort of look like fairytale houses I like the construction of them the location and the access to nearby shopping malls and restaurants and highways too. The upkeep of the landscaping is immaculate the apartments themselves are decently proportioned and they have garages or the optional carports which happens to be important to us. But of course I do think they need a key and lock through the out door access of the apartments. I do have my reasons for saying that. Although with the balconys,sheds,and the views of the ponds with the active fountainss we are still looking for another place to live after being here for some years because the security reasons.
It's a great starter apartment. Very nice community with somewhat reasonable prices. Washer and dryer in every apartment and they pay the heat and gas bill. However not very friendly in the leasing office and not too secure. Overall a lot to offer for the price.
Huntington Cove Apartments located in Merrillville, Indiana. Solid place to live. Great apartment layout and scenary for Northwest Indiana. Right behind Southlake Mall, which causes road rage at times, but allows for easy spending of your monies. A relatively safe complex and helpful leasing office, however, they suck at letting you know the package you've been waiting for, for weeks has arrived. Close to great food, nightlife, recreation spots, shopping and easy access to I-65 interstate. Only real complaint is bad plowing of the roads during Winter. Oh, and they have a pool.
Huntington Cove, Apt Complex Free Heat,but if you are form a worn state 78degree's,don't cut it. The buildings are somewhat sound. With feel's like single pain,window with no trim/frame.There is a nice walk end closest.But poorly interested.which take's us,Too the bathroom, it's okay but the veneering is olding,The kitchen openings orgard,to the Dinner/Living room, with a sliding door.The ceiling has a crow's foot texture, and a knockdown texture without the knockdown
Love this complex with a couple exceptions. I love that there are washer and dryers and a dishwasher in the unit. It is such a nice apartment with the exception of the outdated cabinets in the kitchen. I do love my closet maid closet that is huge as well. The big downsides is that they try and get you to go with bloomberg Internet and it is terrible. You can get a different company for that though unlike with the cable where you have to have dish.
The apartment is nice and nicely priced. The location is great and has in unit washer and dryer.
