Property Ratings at Huron Square and The Osborn Apartments
I think the move-in process is one of the most important in a move. I originally visited the Huron Square apartments and loved a particular unit. At the time, I had indicated that I would be looking to move in a month's time. Almost immediately thereafter, plans significantly changed and I made a phone call to Lauren in the leasing office, asking her for the impossible. I asked how quickly I could move in. Mind you, the apartment literally needed work still done in it. Lauren told me that they could rearrange their working schedule and I could move in at the end of the week. I am now sitting in my apartment at Huron Square and loving it. Both Lauren and Laura in the leasing office have moved mountains in order to get me in 3.5 weeks in advance. I truthfully do not think many places in Cleveland, Ohio would go out of their way like that to help me move in. It is evident that Lauren and Laura want the tenants to be happy and will do everything they can in their power. When the time comes to review the building itself, I will. But I believe that the building is just as important as the support staff. And so far, it's just been superb.
The location is the only positive I can think of. The garage is falling apart, low-hanging tarps fail at catching leaking rust water that permanently damaged the paint on my car. Management claims they’ve already spent too much money on failed repairs so they’ve given up and say that they aren’t responsible for hanging new tarps OR damage done to cars. Dealing with property management was a nightmare during the last year I lived here. Their incompetence led to many mistakes — for example, they didn’t send me a lease renewal to sign (I had already signed an intent to renew) and then they tried to force me to back-pay almost 6 months of month to month charges AND sign a new lease at an increased rate. A neighbor told me the same thing happened to him. It was like pulling teeth trying to get a work request completed. Management would often try to push the blame off on the maintenance workers (1-2 men for 2 buildings) who were struggling to keep up with service requests and renovating empty suites. The maintenance guys were great and we were always very appreciative of their work. There were empty promises of “great things to come for the community.” I didn’t see any changes other than work to renovate empty suites to attempt to charge new residents higher rates. I think that the rent is ridiculously high given the amenities the buildings have to offer. The “gym” in the Osborn consists of 4 pieces of equipment in a musty basement. Package delivery was unorganized and I’ve had multiple items lost. The garage is a disaster and the cost ($150/month) isn’t even included in rent. Add unbearable management on top of that and I think living at Huron Osborn is not worth the money or trouble.
I searched all over downtown Cleveland to find a home away from home. After stepping foot into a spacious apartment with many bay windows letting in natural light, I knew I found the one! The apartment itself is very cozy and welcoming. I love the connivence of the attached parking garage and the on site fitness center. Management is very supportive and quick to respond! I'm very happy with my stay at The Osborn.
