The secret is out – Buffalo is an idyllic city for renters on a budget with its low cost of living and affordable apartments. As the second largest city in the State of New York, Buffalo is a hub for innovators, entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, and so many more. Known as the Queen City, Buffalo is also nicknamed the “City of Light” because it was one of the first metropolises to benefit from the light powered by the Niagara River.
Nestled along Lake Erie, Buffalo is home to an array of lush parks and beautiful views. There’s no shortage of entertainment options in this major metropolitan area. Residents enjoy cheering on the Buffalo Bills at New Era Field, listening to live music at Canalside, and sipping a pint at one of the many local breweries in town. The city’s affluent past has left behind historic architecture, ranging from grand buildings in Downtown to 19th century Victorian mansions.

Property Ratings at Hyde Park Apartments
The apartments are maintained well, with large windows and wood floors. With it's location next to Allen it is an affordable option. However, the public and shared areas of the building are dismal. The basement has 6 washers & dryers, of which 3 work. Often messes of other tenants are found in the hall, basement and elevators. (Vomit, trash, spit). The entire building smells of cigarettes and marijuana, regardless of being smoke free. There are also many tenants that are extremely loud and disrespectful of their neighbors. Management does little to help in any of these matters. There is of course little to be done without evidence. However, dozens of packages have been stolen and management has not addressed the issue (with cameras, better locking doors, ECT) When management needs to enter apartments, expect no more then a 4 day notice (have a plan ready if you have pets. Get a kennel or have friends). In short, or time at Hyde Park has been abismal and we are very excited to be moving out.
This building is in an excellent location; it is within walking distance from many Elmwood Ave. and Allentown restaurants, shops, and bars. Anything too far to walk to is only a short drive away. The apartments are bright and welcoming, with large windows and many closets for storage. However, management is lacking, as the staff is often hard to reach and sometimes reluctant to help. Parking is another issue; there is a waiting list to get a parking spot in the building parking lot, which is $40 extra a month on top of your rent. If you do not get a parking spot or you are trying to save some money, you have to park on the street, where spots are scarce and street plows snow you in.
