Essex is a quiet suburban community situated on the Chesapeake Bay, just 11 miles east of Baltimore. A predominantly residential area, Essex residents enjoy a low cost of living and proximity to the city. Essex is an excellent option for renters thanks to an incredible variety of apartment communities and townhomes near the water and the town’s major thoroughfares.
Residents enjoy an even mix of locally-owned restaurants and more familiar eateries along Eastern Boulevard, Back River Neck Road, and Middleborough Road. It’s easy to travel to and from Essex, especially if you commute into the city center. You’re minutes from Interstate 695 and the MARC station near Martin State Airport. In addition to being a waterfront city, you’ll enjoy Essex’s parks, marinas, and modern conveniences.

Property Ratings at Hyde Park Apartments
Roach, spiders, centipedes, bugs, etc. Maintenance is lazy. They ignore work orders and don't care. I Got pictures just don't know how to upload them. My skin crawl being here I don't feel at home. My 3-year-old and I Keep getting insect bites and will be seeing a dermatologist, I'll be giving birth soon and fear for my newborns too. Am just sick of talking and calling.

Maintenance will enter your apartment when you are not home! And just hang out! Management did nothing to stop it.
Property Manager at Hyde Park Apartments, Responded To This Review
All maintenance calls are completed in the order they are received and our residents do not have to be home while work is being completed. I assure you that the situation you are describing is a misunderstanding and not typical of Hyde Park. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact me at 410-683-7000. Perhaps with better understanding, we can change your mind about Hyde Park. Roxie B. Community Liaison
THIS IS A WARNING to all potential tenants for these apartments. If you become ill and are hospitalized, they will not be empathetic or sympathetic. My friend was hospitalized and the physician called the apartment complex to explain that the patient was hospitalized for about a week and would likely be discharged from the hospital in the next few days. The doctor asked if there was anything that could be done to offset any late charge fees as the patient was very concerned and worried about this. The leasing office said there was nothing they could to waive fees, but if my friend wanted to write a letter later for the leasing office to consider after the fees (to see if he could get reimbursed somehow after paying a late fee) then that would be all they could do. My friend was not in his home for almost a week. So he wasn’t even using their apartment because he was in the hospital and will get another bill (the hospital bill in addition to his rent with a late fee). This is not the place that will relate to you as a human. As I said, they will not empathize. They will not sympathize. However, they too may become ill one day and require a hospitalization. They may need assistance, and understanding as well one day. My friend had to make a decision to stay in the hospital so he could get better or to leave the hospital against the doctor’s advice so that he could make it home in time to pay his rent. No one should have to make that choice. A happy place to live should not be a life death decision. Think twice and think a third and fourth time and many more times before you consider moving here. Please take time to read all the reviews and don’t’ rush into a decision to move here. I would strongly urge you to move to a place that would care about you and your loved ones not only during the good times, but also the bad or hard times. Your health and life may very well depend on it.

Thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention. It is company policy to reimburse late fees after they are paid for extenuating circumstances. I'm sorry to hear that you disagree. Please give us a call to discuss your experience in more detail or if you have any suggestions for improvement at 410-683-7000. We truly appreciate your friend's residency and hope they are feeling much better. Roxie B. Community Liaison
This place literally try's to control everything you do. If you have toys or whatever in your back yard you get a letter. They do weekly lawn inspections, I cut my grass four days before inspection and still got a letter saying it's too high. Not to mention my home was broken into and when the maintenance man came he stuck a wooden board in my burst out window without nailing down or anything, lied and said he'd be right back after a few hours past me my wife and kids decided to sleep else where for the night. Don't trust them.
AS for a senior my husband they don't have an elevator. He has to climb steps and it is very hard on his knees. The kitchen needs to be up to date.
I've been living here for almost 2 years. Usually a quiet area, although kids in neighborhood can get rowdy at times (saw a group of school-aged kids smoking behind the apartment building..yikes!!) Staff in Leasing office are friendly and always willing to help. Maintenance are a bit slow at times, you may have to call them back 2-3 times before they actually fix it correctly. I love that they have people come and clean the buildings, because people can be jerks and leave trash. They have washer and dryers in each of the buildings which are convinient even though its almost 2 dollars a load. The amount of square footage you receive for the price is pretty impressive. The only thing I wished they had was a pool. But I would definitely recommend!
I have been living in Hyde Park for 2 years now and the staff are great. They are very friendly. Maintenance team are always addressing my concerns promptly and the property manager has always handled any issues I had professionally. I always feel like a priority with the staff. My only complaint are some of the neighborhood kids and their loitering on the property but the groundsmen do their best to keep things tidy.
My biggest concern when shopping around for a new apartment was making sure it has no bugs or rodent problems. Well April of this year has made 2 years and I haven't had a single bug or rodent in my apartment. I also like the spacious rooms. Maintenance is always available even after hours which is great. My only complaint is sometimes kids play in the hallway. But other than that it's a clean safe environment to live in.
My apartment has served it's purpose for the time that it has.
The apartments have mice. And other critters. The apartments are built in a way that when you move in, everything looks ok but then they slowly start to fall apart. The girls in the office are ok but the maintenance crew only kind of fixes things. I am def not going to renew my lease. There are always cops dtwn the street which idk if is good or bad.
I've been living here for almost 2 years now. I don't have any major complaints, I love my apartment only thing I can say is hopefully you don't need anything major repiared because maintenance tends to act afraid of big projects. But otherwise the neighborhood is awesome at an awesome price.
This apartment community is great for small families the apartments are a very large for an apartment they are more like a small condo the best part is the eat in kitchen there is so much cabinet storage and space I would recommend anyone to live here!
