With great proximity to LA and everything that surrounds it, Canoga Park remains a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of big city living. Various restaurants and retailers reside around town, but Canoga Park is mainly residential.

Property Ratings at Independence 7255, LP
A tenant was just robbed in the parking lot. There are not enough lights to keep the non-covered parking area safe. Also, be careful of the overly positive reviews, they seem like they were written fraudulently. The apartment has cockroaches.
Was told the bldg. was a non smoking bldg.. Within a week found out that was a lie, people smoke outside their or in the hallway, which leaves the odor trap in the hallway. Quite bldg. but my door mat got stolen twice. and no matter how clean you are there will always be roaches coming out the outlets or vents. Horrible
I have lived in four apartments in the San Fernando Valley in the last 25 years and none has come close to this in visual appeal, well-planned architecture, spaciousness and comfort. It is quiet here, the neighbors are carefully vetted and end up being pleasant and friendly. The grounds are immaculately kept, including the lovely Japanese style asymmetrical rose garden in the courtyard and the crystal clear pool. The flourishing trees throughout the property make it feel like a vacation spot. The management is accessible and responsive and any minor issue I've had over the four-and-a-half years I have lived here has been dealt with quickly and effectively. The rent is very reasonable for the quality of the property.
If young and adventurous or been-around and adventurous, living in Canoga Park (CP) can be a worthy experience as it’s a mix and match of the surrounding SFV lifestyles. If looking for middle ground play-it-safe, CP may not appeal to you. Pros: Independence Court Apartments is a mix like the communities that surrounds it. The apartment building brags a beautiful gardened center court yard, pool, gated parking, large sweeping hallways, corner fireplaces and central air. One can only wonder what the view and community was like back in the days it was built. There’s a hearkening appeal to the building, as contrasted to today’s cookie cutter rabbit-hutch layout of square footage saving buildings. As for the apartment the make-ready move-in was good, new counter/sink, carpet, vinyl and ceiling fan. I’m a down to the grout type inspector so good is good while looking for exceptional. The rent is reasonable with interesting foods/shops nearby and malls in every driving direction. Cons: Yes, the neighborhood is run down and the kids and clowns tag and litter. The grit and grime of a rough neighborhood is punctuated by permanent sidewalk stains of gum. The maintenance of the building is maintained but not improving, when standing still isn’t an option you have to ask if entropy is going to win. Time and attrition will tell. Inside, the kitchen cupboard doors need replacing being painted once too often. I’ve never had roaches and I’ve found a few in the kitchen and bathroom classic plumbing areas. I haven’t completed my anti-bug-blitz but assume this is going to be a mute issue. I moved to Independence Court Apartments because the price point is in my comfort zone with ease of access for work, to friends, family and fun times.
the place is safe and clean but expensive, nice neighborhood, good parking.
