Extending along Roxboro Road from Stanley Road to Braggtown, Weaver is a terrific neighborhood that provides fast access to the entire Triangle region. The north end of the neighborhood follows the Eno River. On the western edge of the neighborhood, West Point on the Eno, a large historic park, covers 404 acres and includes a reconstructed mill, hiking trails, and picnic areas. The McCown-Mangum House Museum and the Schoolhouse of Wonder are also on the west side of Weaver.
While Weaver is a residential neighborhood, you'll find a variety of shops and restaurants along Roxboro Road. On the southern end of Weaver, there's additional shopping and Duke Regional Hospital. This section is also home to the Durham County Stadium, the Edison Johnson Aquatics Center, and Rock Quarry Park. This popular park includes a rec center, a splash pad, and ball fields.

Property Ratings at Independence Park
Original Move-in Date: Sept. 02, 2024 on Unit A - Received a call on Aug. 20, 2024 that move in date will be moved to Sept. 11, 2024 and that we'll be moved to a different Unit due to "Unit A will not be ready by that date". So, from the initial signed lease of Unit A, we will be moved to Unit B on Sept. 02, 2024. Agreed and Signed new lease. Call received from Latoya. Visited the office: Sept. 04, 2024 or Sept. 05, 2024 - Visited office to confirm the readiness of the Unit B. I received a confirmation that "everything looks good for the move next week", spoked with Latoya. 2nd Scheduled Move-in Date: September 11, 2024 on Unit B - Received another call on Sept. 10, 2024 around 04:30pm that Unit B is not ready yet for the next day's move, as per Joseph it will be available by Sept. 13, 2024 by 10am. It has been a very inconvenient experience and we haven't moved in yet. Hotel is expensive for the extensions. I have toddlers, a student and I just started work and relocated from another state. I just want for them to work efficiently. I hope I will not get the same statement "What can we do if it's not yet done" like my other relocated friend got. We have the same experience by the way. Done filing a complaint and if this review will make them speed up, so be it. Left a star for them to improve.

I have lived at Independence Park Apts for the last 4 years. I have truly enjoyed living here and this is why I am still here. Maintenance response has always been quick and 100%. I met Tony who had to service my apartment. Very nice and polite. The Office Squad is absolutely amazing another plus. Last week I locked my keys in my car, it was pouring down rain that day. Heather put on her rain gear got in her car and came to me to let me in my place (which is at the very end of the complex) to get my extra key. I trust them and they all are like family. The upkeep of the apartments and Complex is on point. On a Saturday Tony was working picking the trash up outside my complex. Thank You all. It is appreciated. Always a inviting and warm greeting in the office no matter day or time. Would I recommend living here? Yes!!
I have lived here for 3 years, and have enjoyed it. The community is quiet, neighbors are friendly, and front office staff are helpful and responsive.
Great staff (10/10) and nice amenities. The price is better than we could find anywhere else and our apartment is pretty nice. Internet and cable included in the rent! Maintenance is responsive and friendly.
We found bedbugs when we moved in. Saw negative reviews previously; however their cost and location were hard to pass up. Plus the office staff were so nice. Later had a different experience. They were not helpful by far. They must know the conditions of the units, but agree to keep it hidden and pass costs to tenants. They will blame you for things that you didn’t do (like bring bed bugs). We never had bedbugs prior to this move. If you’ve never had bedbugs, do your research. Life changing.
If I could give no stars I would. Unless you are desperate Do Not Move here. Jamie is a liar! They make up things to keep your deposit so you have to spend money to get a lawyer and file a complaint with BBB. It took us 12 months the time of my lease to get a new refrigerator ( which we had problems with every month). Carpets are stained when you move in and yet they try and charge you to replace them when they should of been replaced before you move in. We to spray for fleas and roaches as soon as we moved in. Find somewhere else to live this headache is not worth it!
ALOT of kids, if your looking for a quiet place to relax this is not it. There is duck/dog poop everywhere and you will have insects regardless if they actually spray in your apartment or not. I have also experienced roaches outside my apartment that was written off to be "water bugs". Next, If your okay with going to sleep to gunshots on most nights, I wouldnt consider this area safe. Place is very convenient in terms of schools, parks and public transit but in my opinion and im sure lots of others, i would rather commute to this area then stay at independence park again. The maintnance team are great people but at times they have an inability to get things done in a timely manner. Staff...HORRIBLE! The manager, All she wants is your money and could care less about your living conditions, please dont let her fool you she is deceiving

We moved into the unit and soon discovered bedbugs. However, because Independence Park has a clause in the lease that says that once the lease is signed, any bedbug infestation is the tenant's expense. We knew nothing about bedbugs so didn't know what to look for during the showing/inspection of the apt. I later saw faintly painted over bedbug spotting and in hindsight recall this strong odor that never left the unit. They may had previously treated the unit for bedbugs, though the bugs continued to dwell. So it became our headache. I would not recommend this property. To this very day I am paranoid that any itch indicates bedbugs, no matter where I go.
The area the apartment complex is located is not a good area. Multiple car break-ins even during the day considering the apartments have "Security guards". I would consider this very seriously before deciding to move into this apartments.
I would just like to take a few moments to Thank our Manager Jamie, and the Staff of Independence Park Town Apartment located @ 215 William Penn Plaza, Durham NC for their continued professionalism and concern for me, and my Family, since I have been living here at Independence Park.I have been a residence here probably longer than any other resident. I moved here on May 20, 2009. At first it was an adjustment, because I had never lived in an apartment complex. I bought my first house, after graduating from Nursing School at the age of 19 years old. Now that I am 41 years older, I am very satisfied with living @ Independence Park, and not having all the responsibilities that come being a homeowner, as it relates to maintenance and repairs of property. I have no current plans on ever moving from here, but I can Never say Never. Thanks To The Maintenance Staff For Your Very Prompt Responses, and taking Care Of Any Repairs of Maintenance I May Need. Keep Up the Great Work Leonard. I give you an "A " Sincerely, Lynda C. Riggsbee
They misled me about the deposit information, and then upon moving out misled me again about how to deal with my deposit concerning charges that I do not believe were valid. The current manager is very rude and will gladly cut you off when you explain your issues to tell you that they aren't her problem. I would avoid this apartment unless you want to get jammed on your way out.
I recently relocated to North Carolina from out-of-state upon receiving a job offer. My new employer gave me a two week suspense in which I was to begin work. Given the suspense, I quickly began searching for a new place. I must have looked at about 10 different apartment communities. The search was exhausting and frustrating to say the least. A friend told me about a website (www.apartments.com) that could be useful in my search. I visited the site and found Independence Park Apartments to be reasonably priced place and it was well within my budget. I scheduled an appointment and went to take a look. The management staff were phenomenal! They listened to my concerns and most importantly reassured me that I was making the right decision by coming in for a visit. They made this entire transition less stressful. I now know that I made the right decision. The staff is exceptional and very professional. When something goes wrong with the apartment which is rare, the maintenance team has a speedy turnaround time for service requests. The staff always welcomes residents with a smile! Banks, restaurants, and the Downtown area are in close proximity to the community. Management has shown and proven to be a remarkable apartment community! I would recommend this place to anyone!
We moved from the South Square area of Durham almost a year ago to the north side for my wife's job. We were not excited about the prospect of moving to this area of Durham. However Independence Park is the oasis in the north side. The apartments are priced great for their large size. It is tucked away two blocks off of Roxboro st. Easy access to the Eno, and hwy 85 is not far at all. The apartments include a security alarm on the front door. We love the layout of our apartment. We don't know our neighbors very well, but everyone is friendly and says "hi". It is pet friendly, and our dog loves all of the grass. I would recommend getting an apartment near the office because it is close to the pool, gym and dumpster. One bad thing is there is only one dumpster so people who live further away will put their garbage on their car hoods and drive across the property. Overall very happy with the staff, grounds and location. I would recommend if looking on the North Side!
This is a great place to live for those who maybe looking for a fresh start in apartment living. My apartment is an one bed with reasonable size walk-in closet, sun room and kitchen. I think the best fixture about the complex is it's location. I am generally located in walking distance of banks, grocery stores, strip center, gas stations and other accommodations. There's also a park with tennis courts and soccer field for those that participate in those sports, as well as a private high school, mid school and elementary.
The apartment is very clean and quieter than i thought it woukd be. Stores, banks and restaurants are very close. Onsite laundry, mail, pool and fitness center.
