Property Ratings at Independence Place I
Since January either one or both of the elevators have been down. People are getting stuck in them and when they ARE down we have to call the fire department to get people between 1 to 10 floors up the stairs. They look like they're getting really pissed having to come here all the time. Then another issue is that we never know if we'll have hot water or not. January started a 20% increase in rents and things are falling apart right and left. There's absolutely no excuse for their blatant disregard for the tenants and not spending some of that $12000-15,000 or more increase to get basic needs taken care of in this SENIOR building. Be aware (beware) of what you'll be getting into if you're thinking about renting here. Unbelievable. August 24, 2023. We have no hot water AGAIN tonight. We called the 24 hr. maint. line and he said he's not going to bother tonight and he'll look at it in the morning. So in the meantime, all the 200 units will go without hot water in the morning and it usually takes 5 hours for it all to heat up. DON'T MOVE HERE. They are callous ignorant nasty people who could care less about you - they get your cash and you're stuck for a whole year without reliable basic services.
I truly like living at Independence Place and appreciate the professionalism of its staff.
Just a great place to live. Very Friendly.
Clean, quiet, office employees as well as maintenance are cordial, polite and caring...property is meticulous..and the office always provides and answer to any given issue..they also provide entertainment by groups to come in as well as educational meeting for residence regarding health, food assistance and all around generosity, providing tenants pay thier rent on time and follow guidelines mandated by the signed lease..
Excellent value for the money. Clean and quiet compared to other properties.

The friendliest place to live! I've found so much peace since I moved to Independence Place. The building and the grounds are well maintained. The staff is great! And the residents have really formed a community here!
Independence Place is a great place to live. I have been here for five years. The staff is great along with the maintenance people. The housekeeping team does a wonderful job keeping the laundry room, the main floors and the elevators clean.
I am very happy living here
Having the senior bus to use is a plus. The grounds are well kept, snow removal in the winter months was good. I paid attention to that, because I had a car until the last few months. The people on my floor, are all nice, good neighbors.
Independence Place is a great place to live. It's in a good location, kept up very well and has friendly tenants.
Independence Place 1 is affordable and conveniently located near shopping, auto repair shop, grocery stores, etc. The maintenance crew is EXCELLENT! They are professional and have expertise in their area of service. They respond in a timely manner and are courteous, professional and clean up if necessary. I appreciate the maintenance crew and am grateful for their expertise. Thanks Lori for submitting the request to maintenance. They were very prompt and prepared to do the job. He did and now the problem is resolved. I am completely satisfied with the service provided.
Independence Place 1 Convenience to Shopping and Medical facilities
The staff is great. Everything is always clean. The residents have been very nice and helpful!

Independence Place is affordable, clean, grounds kept up beautifully spring, summer and fall..they take care of snow removal as promptly and efficiently as possible..The staff is courteous, friendly and will help any way they can..to provide a pleasant environtment
I love living at Independence Place. Not only the staff in our building but the staff at the Corporate office care about what happens at our buildings. They visited personally and I've never seen that happen anywhere else before.
Too much of an increase annually, parking is an issue
In my approximate two and half years here, I have been pleased. Service calls taken care of quickly. Office staff and maintenance are always professional, but friendly. Months back washers replaced, a real plus. Activities planned by staff, when able. Safety always a priority, due to what's going on in the community at this time. Have to give them credit also.
My only issue is that I didn't know about this place sooner! I absolutely love it here! Both staff and maintenance are wonderful! The apartments are very well maintained. So much thought was put into covering all bases for a safe and happy atmosphere for us seniors!
The staff and residents are caring kind and considerate. The staff is patient and generous with their time.
Independence Place is home..I feel comfort as well as safety in this complex..it is quiet, clean and again..I call it home..
I enjoy living here..office personnel are great..kind, and thorough...maintenance is efficient, knowledgeable and kind
Property Manager at Independence Place I, Responded To This Review
Hi there, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience and will strive to for many years to come.
For the price we pay and the people I have come to know, Independence Place is as much a "home" as just an apartment. People complain, -that is life-but here on the 7th floor we seem to all still BE here! :). There is good and bad everywhere-but here at least, the good outweighs the bad! I am on my 11th year and have no plans to move. Its' a good place! I will say Brookfield has made a lot of better changes since taking over.
