A vibrant gem in the heart of the prairie, Des Moines is named for the river that snakes through the city. This is Iowa's capital (and the county seat of Polk County), and it is filled with things to do. From concerts at the historic Salisbury House to the collections at Des Moines Art Center, and from the 81 miles of hiking and biking trails to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Gardens, Des Moines offers so much that it was named one of the top 10 cities in which to live by US News.
Home to such companies as Meredith Corporation, Wells Fargo, Voya Financial, and Principal Financial Group, Des Moines is considered one of the nation's wealthiest cities. But you'll also have fun after moving to your Des Moines apartment -- the city offers amazing shops and restaurants in East Village, the nearby Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, the family-friendly Adventureland Park, and the fascinating Living History Farms.

Property Ratings at Ingersoll Square Lofts
Very disappointed with the total quality of living since we moved in. We toured after the Holidays and signed our lease in February and were told several times the pool and hot tub were getting some maintenance but would be up in plenty of time. Conveniently one week after we moved in in March, we got an email that it wouldn’t open this year and they hoped it would be ready in 14 months? Several other residents have confirmed they have just chosen to not pay for it to be fixed. It’s such a shame they weren’t honest about this when we were considering, and they haven’t responded to several requests about a possible rent reduction. This was a major reason we moved in, and they lied and are still charging us as if this amenity is available. Residents are all nice, the apartment space is fine and the balcony views are great. Inside the apartment, doors don’t work great, appliances need to often run more than once to work, plumbing smells awful. Apartment could be excellent, but they choose to prioritize the rent and not providing what they promise.
Highly recommend you look elsewhere for an apartment. Management was so helpful to get us into the complex, but they could not careless about your resident experience. When we toured here everything looked great. They told us the hot tub and pool were don’t for maintenance, but that they’d be repaired prior to summer. (If they tell you the same- don’t believe them.) A week after we moved in we got an email saying they wouldn’t be available all year. And the dog park will be closing later this year. (They did say they would try to have a handful of community events instead- because that’s the same thing somehow?) When we responded asking questions, they ignored us. Our apartment looked nice moving in, but it’s not functional. Doors get stuck, the bathroom frequently smells as if there’s a dead animal in the pipes, drains get clogged very easily, and our laundry machine has a terrible moldy smell to it. I’ve washed it several times now and no change. The balconies are very cute, however they’re burning hot when the sun is out (and there’s a birds nest sitting above mine so mine is constantly covered in bird poop). Now the gym we knew was small going into the place, but we didn’t know how unreliable it was. One of the two treadmills sound like it’s breaking with every step you take (I’m 125lbs) and also doesn’t stay at an incline. The other treadmill is now not turning on at all. Most likely from the pool that was in the gym yesterday because someone in management left the only window (it goes to the roof) open for the storm. Yesterday one of the lifting benches also smacked flat while someone was in the middle of doing their sets. (Management also didn’t respond to our concerns about the gym.) It also gets very difficult to breathe in the gym during a workout. There’s no circulation of air. As mentioned, the only window is to the roof and it’s typically locked. Out of the 2 ceiling fans in the gym, one hasn’t been operational since I moved in. I wish there were more reviews about this place before I moved in.
The pool will not be open in 2024 and they lied about it. The hot tub has been broken and we were assure it would be fixed and that the pool would be open in summer. I even gave an email stating that “despite rumors” they would not be closing it and the earliest would be fall 2024 but after that most likely. We then got an email from Aubri stating “as you know the pool has been out of commission and now the hot tub is.” You’ll notice that is the exact OPPOSITE of what of the order. They sent that after a ton of people just signed new leases. They are doing NOTHINT for the rent. They want to have “events.” I sent an email to aubri aksing for her to. Pretext her email since it was False. She never responded. They barely ever respond, they take forever, they don’t answer questions, and when you have the audacity to ask them to actually answer your questions for once they act like five year olds. I cannot stress how much this place has gone down hill. Don’t rent for them or Artisan.
In reference to locations this is the location resonates with both city inclusiveness and privacy. Nancy made my transition seamless to the point where I know if I have any issues these are to be heard and resolved quickly. Glad to have a very hygienic space and up to date amenities to come home to!
Jammie was such a fantastic presenter of the apartments, of everything that Ingersoll has to offer, and she was very professional, knowledgeable, and she smiled the whole time. It was the best tour we've had for any apartment complex that we've looked at. We could see calling this place home in the near future, thanks to Jammie. You are lucky to have her there! Thank you, Jammie, for treating us like family! Thank you, Ingersoll Leasing, we'll be in touch!
In the heart of Des Moines, IA. A stones throw away from downtown and valley junction. Quiet well maintained complex with excellent amenities. Brooke and staff will take great care of you. I would highly recommend.
First off the management here is fantastic. Something needs fixed? They make sure it's taken care of. When I first moved in there was a spot of paint on the ceiling that didn't quite match the rest of the paint. They tried like three or four times to match it before they finally did even after I told them I was okay with it. Part of their success is due to Brooke is a great manager and formerly Heather the assistant property manager. There are fun events each month for the tenats including some with the potential to win rent credit. Is this a perfect place? No. But some of the best management you'll find and some of the best value as far as proximity to downtown and square footage. Also, right off of 235 so convenient highway access. If you like downtown, rent HERE. :)
Me and my wife moved into ingersoll square about 8 months ago and we could not be happier here. From the amazing management staff to the beautiful units and scenery. My brother and his wife moved in, my wife and myself came over to see thier new place and just loved it so much we got a place here. The only other place I would move to is a place we have built for us, we love it here. Best place ever!
I regret every moment of living here. Below is a non-exhaustive list of my litany of bad experiences, but in sum DO NOT LIVE HERE. 1. When I contacted the building manager just days after I toured the apartment, she said the apartment I toured had been filled. She then said another apartment had opened up but that someone was in line to take it and pressured me into filling an application for the apartment. I was unable to see it first, and when I went to look at the apartment the day before move-in (which had been empty for a month) I immediately noticed that it smelled strongly of smoke. I have a huge smoke sensitivity. She admitted that it did smell like smoke and that if I wanted they could try to have it cleaned, though why they did not do this during the month the apartment was empty, I have no idea. Two miserable weeks later they came and cleaned. The smoke smell never truly went away. I asked if they would offer any kind of compensation, and never received a response. 2. A few months later, our hot water shut off unexpectedly. I religiously check both my email and spam folders, but I hadn't received any notice. I emailed the building manager who told me they had sent an email out and that I must have received it because they definitely sent it. They then shut off the water to the building completely. This was not the first time this had happened. I learned that when the building was constructed (which was not that long ago) they had put in faulty pipes that burst. The water was completely shut off for over 24 hours with very little advanced notice. The management said they may offer compensation for the inconvenience, and then never did. 3. When I first toured, I told the woman that I needed a 9 month lease. She told me they offer 6 month leases with 3 month extensions. I asked again over email and confirmed in writing that the building offered 6 month leases with 3 month extensions and the rent would not increase. When I went to renew, the management had changed and they said they would no longer offer this policy and would charge $150 extra a month. They eventually were talked down to $50 a month BUT - 4. Upon renewal, the apartment tried to make me sign a "Mutual non-disparagement clause." Under the terms I was not allowed to review or post anything on any site that may be considered disparaging or negative. I was astounded. I told them I wouldn't sign and I happily live somewhere else now.
My husband and I lived at Ingersoll Square for a year and a half and really enjoyed it. We lived in Phase I on the top floor. The management was very prompt in resolving maintenance issues, the building was always very clean, and it was surprisingly quiet despite being close to major roads. We LOVED the big balcony and the ability to have a gas grill (not always a given, even if a building does have balconies), and appreciated that the other tenants were very friendly, giving the whole building a nice neighborly vibe. We’ll definitely miss it and highly recommend living at Ingersoll Square.
While my stay was short, this is by the most wonderful apartment complex I have ever encountered. The management is personable, attentive and always on top of things. Heather and Brooke are an absolute joy to interact with. They both will go above and beyond to ensure their tenants are happy. The events they organize are such a blast and a fantastic way to create an inclusive and enjoyable community for everyone living at Ingersoll Square. I lived in both phase 3 and phase 1 and never had an issue that wasn't dealt with immediately. The maintenance man, Johnny, is incredibly efficient and lovely to chat with. All three phases are beautiful kept and are designed in such a visually pleasing manner. The quality and appearance of the kitchen and bathroom cabinetru, countertops, and wardrobes is top-notch. The variety in unit layouts will satisfy any picky prospective tenant. I can't say it enough but I absolutely love the industrial but inviting feel of the complex. And I haven't even mentioned the pool, fitness center and dog park yet! Needless to say, all are kept in exquisite condition and a pleasure to use. Throughout my time at Ingersoll Square, I never had a complaint. I don't think I'll ever find an apartment complex with the level and care, consideration and community. If I could give them infinite stars, I would. A million thanks to Heather and Brooke for an amazing experience!
Quality apartments at an affordable rate and an outstanding management team. I'd live here longer if I didn't have to move for work. Great place to call home!

Property Manager at Ingersoll Square Lofts, Responded To This Review
Thank You!! Ingersoll Square makes it our top priority to try and make sure it feels like a community.
This is a lovely little building. Maintenance requests are addressed promptly, communication with management is easy, and the new management is taking on little projects to improve a number of problems. Apparently there is a parking space shortage for those who don't elect to rent a space in the garage, but management is working to address that. My rent includes an assigned garage space so I haven't had to deal with this. They have fenced off a little area to serve as a mini "dog park", and it's nice to have a place to let my dog run around off-leash. My apartment is extremely spacious and has a great deal of closet space and high ceilings make it seem even more spacious. The polished concrete floors have radically improved my quality of life as a pet owner. The location is absolutely stellar; Gateway Market, Powerlife Yoga, and Reset are mere steps away. I've only had two minor issues: first, the large windows and glass door in the living room make it very difficult to maintain the indoor temperature; in the summer, if I turn up the a/c, the temperature in the living room gets up to 80 within 90 minutes, and it is viciously cold in the winter. The temperature in the bedrooms is maintained very well, though, and I haven't addressed this with management. Also a problem is the internet; it is unbearably slow, and we only have the ability to use one service. When our internet was installed, the provider told us the wiring in the building is inadequate and that the whole building would need to be rewired to improve the speed. All in all, I love this place. It's super cute.
