Property Ratings at Inlet Bay at Gateway
Multiple maintenance issues. The water has been shut off multiple times. Very noisy, windows and doors are old so the seals are non existent so my apartment is essentially whatever temp it is outside. Multiple additional fees so listed price does not reflect the actual rent.

Even though I live at this location and have a parking permit, my vehicles been towed twice. It’s ridiculous. How the tow truck drivers make money on the residence at this location? I was going to get a two bedroom instead of my one bedroom and re-sign a lease but this morning my van was missing again, how do you have multiple paid parking places that aren’t properly listed please be aware of the parking situation and find another place to live just like I am
Property Manager at Inlet Bay at Gateway, Responded To This Review
Hello, We are saddened to hear that you have been dissatisfied with your experience in our community. As outlined in the lease agreement, vehicles may be towed for various reasons, including obstructing personal garages, impeding resident parking access, occupying another resident's designated spot, displaying expired registration or plates, or lacking a visible valid permit. We are unable to locate the specifics of why your vehicle was towed without your name. Our towing vendor is entrusted to uphold our parking policies and tow any vehicle in violation. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your feedback. Kind Regards, Madison WeCare@udr.com
As far as apartments go this place is just okay. Office response was very fast and friendly but the property itself is a long shot from the photos. We’re very clean individuals, we would mop and clean our apartment on a regular basis but that wouldn’t stop the bugs from getting in. We mostly dealt with ants and were no ordinary ants. We would call for assistance with pests and they would come at timely manner but that wouldn’t stop these pests. These ants would appear where you would least expect them to. In closets, on clothes, on furniture, hell even in the microwave. After we had noticed them taking over our apartment we stopped eating anywhere but the kitchen and these ants would still find something to infest themselves in. We tried everything to suppress them but they still overcame our apartment. We would’ve renewed our lease but these ants won all the battles, all the other bugs were minimal but these ants were an absolute nightmare. There were other things that also fed into our hatred of living here such as the extremely limited parking, not only for guests but for residents too. If you’re coming home late for any reason don’t expect to park anywhere close to your apartment. The floors where very thin, I understand that that’s something you deal with in apartments but man it was exceptionally awful here. You’ll be happy if you decide on anywhere at all besides this place.
If I could give this place NEGATIVE 5 stars, I would. It has been a nightmare since I moved in in October. From my very first day we were fighting wasps just to move in, people entering my home without knocking, my door knob falling off in the middle of the night, overall my apartment was nowhere near ready for move in. My stove has been broken since October. Every month I put in a service request and someone fixes it temporarily. I now have a BAT situation, where I have found 2 bats on my patio and 3rd one was recently flying around in my house on the 2nd of July. I let it out my front door, again now tonight on the 3rd, I woke up at 3am and found a 4th bat on my ceiling. Which caused me to now leave my home, because I do not feel safe sleeping with a bat flying around my apartment. When I looked outside on my patio today, I find a ton of bat droppings. I do not feel safe living here and I am told the only way to terminate my lease are the normal procedures. I am asking for contact information to speak to someone higher up and I am told by the Manager McKenzie, that she is my best recourse to resolve this issue. As a tenant I do have rights, and feeling safe in my own home is one of them. I WOULD HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND LIVING IN THESE APARTMENTS.

Hello there, We apologize for the negative experience you've had in our community. We understand the importance of feeling comfortable in your apartment, and we strive to address any issues promptly. We encourage residents to notify our team whenever they require repairs or pest control services in their unit. Our dedicated team is here to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have throughout your residency. Regarding the bats, we regret any frustration this situation has caused. It's important to note that bats are protected by state laws during their nesting season, which spans from April 15 to August 15. Consequently, we are unable to remove the bats from the property during this time period as we are committed to abiding by state regulations. We genuinely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our team if you have any remaining concerns. We are more than willing to assist you in any way we can. Kind Regards, Callie, WeCare@udr.com
Let me start by saying, avoid this place. The landscaping as a whole is nice but that’s about it. The staff could careless about any issue that you bring to their attention and will tell you what you want to hear in order for you to go away/leave them alone. There are 3 maintenance personnel for a 500-600 unit complex. Literally to the point that it takes weeks for anything to get done. For example, our washer/dryer died..it took them 2.5 to 3 weeks to replace it and then they did not hook it up correctly…which took another 2 weeks for them to come and fix. We had to use a local laundromat in the meantime, which gets expensive as you know. The quality of the appliances, cabinets, countertops, etc. is a joke. IKEA makes a better product. They claim they enforce the “getting fined if you don’t pick up after your dog”, but they don’t. There is dog crap everywhere. Parking here is a nightmare. I rarely ever get to park near my building…maybe 600-800 yards away/across the complex. They essentially force you into purchasing permit parking in order to park remotely close. In almost 3 years of living here, I have called the leasing office which is maybe 200 yards away from my building, about 200 times. I have spoken with someone maybe twice. Mind you, I can see if there are vehicles over there other than theirs so I’d call when they weren’t busy, yet no one ever answers. The gym AC has been broken for weeks now to the point where it is like working out in a literally sauna, yet they don’t care. The area near the garbage compactor is always crawling with rodents and stinks to high heavens almost all of the time. Instead of spending money to upgrade/fix our apartments, they’d rather waste money and paint the buildings when it wasn’t even needed (ugly coloration, by the way..nice going). Can honestly say I can’t wait for my lease to be over with so we can get the hèll out of here. Would never recommend this complex to anyone.
UDR and Inlet Bay are the worst place you could rent from. They leave residents without air conditioning for weeks, causing indoor temperatures to rise above 82°. The “help” team is completely useless and rude. If you are considering renting from any UDR community, take this as a warning and RUN!!! This company is horrible. Please don’t make the same mistake the rest of us did.
They charged us $700 for "damages" upon leaving. This charge came after we paid everything off including all our fees and 3.5K to break lease. There is no disputing any charges they would like to toss your way.
Property Manager at Inlet Bay at Gateway, Responded To This Review
Hi, We sincerely apologize for your disappointment and frustrations regarding your move out charges. To ensure the apartment is in move-in condition for the new resident, certain repairs may be required. Charges will be assessed for anything outside of normal wear and tear. Our billing department handles any concerns with move-out charges; Please reach out to them at billing@udr.com if you wish to dispute your Final Account Statement and they will be happy to research the charges and assist. Kind regards, Rachel C.
No issues with the neighborhood or neighbors, enjoy living here. But, if you need anything from maintenance or the office it goes from good to terrible. At one point was without A/C for 2 days and couldn't get someone to come by, was up to 85 degrees in apartment, maintenance "completed" my request to get it off their list even though they never came by, had to submit another request and wait. Bathroom light broke, submitted request and waited over a week for someone to come check on it, was forced to shower and use bathroom in the dark for a week. Anytime issues are brought to the attention of management you get defensive responses/excuses rather than trying to take care of their residents. To top it off, the renewal offer was a 15% rent increase in a single year (usually 3-5% at all other neighborhoods I've lived in), so if you're moving in, plan ahead to year 2 and a substantial rent increase once they already have you.
Everytime family comes down one of them gets their car gets towed. No information about it anywhere. 24/7 services is non existing. Very poor year here. Hate it
The apartment itself is fine but management is awful. Their own app that they tell residents to use is a waste of time and doesn’t work. The contact info is outdated and the management blames the residents for not being able to contact them. Roommates rental car got towed because the number we texted for the office was outdated and even though it’s the number they provide on their OWN app they did not care at all and would not compensate him for the tow. Tried to submit a notice to vacate on their OWN app and was told it’s not a valid way to submit the notice? So why have it on the app then? Can’t wait to see how I get penalized for a late notice to vacate which wasn’t actually late. Don’t move here unless you’re fully prepared to deal with incompetent management team. Overall subpar standard of living. Closing the pool in the beginning of summer?? Are you serious?
These apartments are horrible and the way they treat you is disgusting they don’t care about you or your safety. Just days ago my neighbor shot a rifle through my home the bullet went through the wall, freezer and the then my other neighbors home. Maintenance came to check out the bullet hole and thought it was funny, this was not a joking matter i could have been seriously injured or dead. They wouldn’t move me or him so now I am scared everyday just walking into the kitchen thinking this may happen again the police were called and there is a police report. But the way they handled this situation was very poorly and you wouldn’t expect that from “luxury apartments” they wouldn’t even let me break my lease. I just want to feel safe but again they don’t care about you just your money. Looking at the reviews that are left by residents here at inlet bay are all true (do not live here) but of course you have the comments that inlet bay post in the reviews like this is amazing apartments to live at (not) . Along with this incident and the poor management you have to pay for parking monthly... but past 6pm there are not parking spots they are basically conning people for extra money and the raccoons here are infested they will come to you house and rip through your trash leaving you to pick up the mess all because the garbage men “forget” your trash or don’t come at all some day (you also have to pay for trash disposal). I can not wait to move from here. Take these reviews seriously and watch out for the reviews that make it seem like these are loving secure apartments. Yes somethings are inevitable and could happen anywhere but it’s all about how you handle situations and ones safety while they are living in your apartment homes and it’s safe to say they do NOT care about anyone or anything but money $$$ !!!
Trash building up. Compactor broken for months with giant bins in place of it. (NOISY AND LOTS OF DUMP TRUCKS) Noisy neighbors, loud music, domestic disputes that go on past 12am and wake you up at 7am Barking dogs Bad insulation
When we moved in they were under a different management company. The current management is a dumpster fire. Good luck getting a maintenance request responded to within a week of requesting it. Was without AC for 4 days last July and they gave us a window unit when one of the bedrooms doesn't even have a window only a sliding glass door, requests we put in when we moved in were never completed and we gave up, we had cardboard pieces in the kitchen in place of wood trim, requested multiple times for this to be fixed. It never was. Trash was often not collected, the company is a joke that handles trash so prepare to walk it to the compactor yourself or have raccoons get into it. Costs are ridiculously high, there are plenty of other complexes that are in that area that are nicer and way less expensive. Some you can get a 2 bedroom for the price of a 1 bedroom here. I have toured most of them up 4th and 9th street once I decided to move out of this hole. We paid $30 a month for 2 pets for 2.2 years and at moveout they charged us almost $800 to replace the carpet, after telling us we needed to pay a carpet cleaning fee at moveout. So not only did they not clean the carpet, but then charged us the full amount to replace it. Never have had this type of experience with a leasing agency and have lived in numerous apartment complexes in my life. I wish I could give 0 stars. The only reason I stayed there after 1 year was because it was so close to work and moving is a hassle, but after 2 years we had enough.
Property Manager at Inlet Bay at Gateway, Responded To This Review
Hello, Inlet Bay has not undergone any change in the management company in many years. the property is still owned and operated by UDR. Our maintenance team changed leadership in October 2018. Since then, changes have been made to complete service requests in a more timely and effective manner. I apologize that you had issues prior to this improvement. We have had trouble with the valet trash company and are working toward a better solution. In the meantime, we ask that all residents notify us when their trash is not picked up, so we may correct the mistake. Upon move out every apartment is inspected and compared to the condition it was in at the time of move in. If you have any questions regarding billing, you may reach out to billing@udr.com or call 727-579-9054 ext 3. Thank you for review. Best regards, Jody Conley 720-348-7620 WeCare@udr.com
Anything to do with the management company has been a struggle: When looking for an apartment we were told we would get a discount on the rental rate per month for my GF being an RN and that they had a special that would waive our SD. Sounds good, they send over the lease, it shows we owe an SD deposit, we ask them why and they say "no you don't owe the SD", but sign it anyway. We made them change the lease to say we do not owe the SD and we signed it online. Then the day before we move in we get an email, from the leasing agent to say oh there was a mistake you do owe the SD. A fun way to move into a place arrive with the U-haul and be bullied into paying extra money. We did not fight it, as the money is refundable, and we were too busy to deal with that as it would take too much time and effort to recoup that amount of money. However, do not get me wrong it was awful customer experience and the worst way to start off living somewhere. We had a couple more issues with the leasing agent as she forgot to have use sign addendum's and rather than let us come into the office to sign them she badgered us to stop by our unit and have us sign them. We set up our online account to pay rent and we are charged a late fee because they cashed our check late, we had to go to the district manager before they would remove it and apologized. We bought a parking spot because if you are in any units by the 9th st (MLK St.) good luck getting a parking spot. Not enough spaces. The maintenance department is by far the worst as they are severely understaffed. We have had multiple issues take weeks before anyone comes out to look at them. Management emailed us over the holidays they hired a new supervisor and said thanks for being patient. Well the only thing that changed was our old work order requests we had outstanding were closed out without being fixed so we had to input them again and still no action. They are friendly, but nothing gets done and their customer service is horrible. I am a local and would advise anyone looking in this area to avoid this place, there are literally so many big apartment complexes in this area. Inlet Bay tells you what you want to hear, or how busy they are, but no action.
Before my boyfriend and I moved in, we were promised brand new appliances. In less than two months of living here, the dishwasher and microwave have broken. The dishwasher took weeks to be replaced after submitting a service request and it will probably take just as long to replace the microwave. On our move in day, the paint on the patio was still wet and I slipped when I went outside to check it out. There were also dead bees on the kitchen floor. We will definitely be moving after our lease is up, not worth the price or the 'glamorous lifestyle' that the association tries to portray.
I'm relocating from out of state. Don't know the area. I have been in contact with no less than 18 properties in the St Petersburg area. I will say that the staff, Caity and Selma have been very gracious, hospitable and extremely polite. They are the main reason I decided to lease with Inlet. The other complexes could learn a lot from these two. Thank you.
I have lived here for a little over two years now, and wow just amazing service! I'm somewhat disabled and have a hard time doing some tasks. and I must say that if I need something, Je'an, Jessica, Selma, and Katie can make it happen!! I have had some maintenance issues but who doesn't, well I have work with both Juan the supervisor and Thomas the assistant supervisor, they have helped in more ways than one... very professional, and on time and extremely courteous.... no issues or complaints...its a very clean, safe decent community and I would so recommended this to anyone...
I have lived in 5 apartment communities over the last 6 years and by far the two top properties were UDR properties. Inlet Bay at Gateway easily topped my list. Their staff is very courteous, always helpful and knowledgeable. They go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of, even when they don't have to. The property is well maintained, the residents are well mannered, and you feel as though you are "home". I would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonable community that isn't going to blind you with the flashy amenities but will provide a nice place to live.
