As one of the major economic centers of Alabama and one of the signature cities of the Southeast, Birmingham has done an impressive job of adapting to the new demands of the 21st century. The city that once built a reputation as the “Pittsburgh of the South” thanks to a robust steel manufacturing industry is now a hip community attracting entrepreneurs, artists, and innovative personalities. Birmingham remains one of the most active business hubs in the region, with headquarters for everything from banks to biotech firms operating in the city.
The dining, nightlife, and entertainment scenes have all grown rapidly in recent years, and just about everyone in town has an opinion about where to find the best brewery. Gorgeously preserved historic buildings and a pervasive attitude of down-home hospitality have kept Birmingham’s famous southern charm intact as well, creating a unique environment where the best elements of the traditional and the modern complement each other.

Property Ratings at Ion at the Ballpark
This place has gone way down hill in the last year, it is never clean and they apparently can't keep maintenance staff. The whole building is disgusting and the manager knows it, she doesn't "strive" for anything. Like I tell every prospective tenant that approaches me on the property, RUN!!!!

Hello, thank you for your feedback. We apologize that your time within our community has been less than ideal over this past year. Please email us at live@ion-ballpark.com or call us at (205) 203-4370. We would love to discuss your experience more in-depth and figure out a way to make it better!
Dogs poop and pee in the elevators. Trash cans by elevators in both garages are constantly overflowing, i can barely even get into the elevator. It’s disgusting. Also, the trash rooms on each floor are full of bags of trash all the time. Nevermind the weed smell that reeks through the hallways and seeps into your bedrooms.

Hi, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize that your experience has not lived up to the high standards we strive to set. Recently the Birmingham Waste Management staff went on strike which regrettably resulted in our trash not being picked up for two weeks. In the future if you encounter a questionable smell, please let our team know so that we may locate the smells source. Our team would like the opportunity to discuss your experience in more detail, please give us a call at (205) 203-4370, or email us at live@venueballpark.com.
The Venue at the Ballpark is a great place to live. It's close to campus, UAB, and it is walking distance from Railroad Park. They also have apartments that overlook Regions Field!! The maintenance staff is top-notch!! Whenever I have a work order they are there pretty quick to get it done. And lastly, the office staff is super nice and they are always having something fun going on on property even during this whole Covid-19 thing. Definitely give them a visit.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We use our reviews to improve ourselves, but love it when we get the 5 stars! And yes, our maintenance staff is "top notch"!
I love living here at the Venue. As a woman, feeling safe has always been of great importance to me. So I love that the facility is gated and has resident-only key fob access to everything: the stairwells, access to get in the building, and even to use the elevators. I love waking up every morning getting to view the field. It’s so refreshing. I also love how the staff at the Venue do monthly things to get residents involved. My most favorite has been the poolside Yoga lead by an instructor, the Thursday night trivia games, and the monthly food trucks. Oh and there are always opportunities to get free food delivered right to your door. The staff has had pizza, Chick-fil-A, and even cheeseburgers delivered right to our doorstep. Who doesn’t love free food? The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Maintenance requests are fulfilled in a timely manner. And I’ve never felt threatened by the maintenance crew. Also if you work downtown, your commute is a gift. I love being only 2 minutes from the hospital. I sometimes even walk to work, and it takes about 5 minutes. I would definitely recommend living here. You get what you pay for. Might as well treat yourself to the best. We only live and die once anyway!

Thanks for the kind words and great review. If you love the "free food" don't miss Breakfast on the Go Friday morning at the exit gate.
Great property, and kind staff! I've been here for a year and even minor inconveniences are handled promptly. Great location for UAB students, and good sized room.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. I am so glad you are enjoying your apartment, Please let us know if you need anything.
This isn’t the best place to live and it’s way overpriced for what you get. The only benefit was when I was student and the close proximity to campus . However, there are other apartments nearby that my friends live at that have better management and higher quality items in the unit. They didn’t treat me very well and ignored my issues for the most part. I had symptoms similar to COVID close to my move out date and they still forced me to leave the unit by shutting off my AC from the roof which was highly unethical. They’re honestly quite selfish and it’s clear they don’t care about their tenants, just the money. Also, I had a neighbor who’s dog peed/ pooped In front of my door all the time and it was just disgusting. The move out fees were almost as much as a months rent which is ridiculous. They charged me for weird things such as wall paint and cleaning when I cleaned the unit before I left ? This place is weird and not a regular apartment complex. It’s not very quiet either. I wouldn’t recommend living here.
Do not live here. The management did not respond or care about anything. They are ruining what is a great location and have no idea with is happening on their property.
Worst management ever. They will lie and steal from their residents. Highly suggest looking elsewhere.
I really tried to hold off from writing this review because I wanted to give management the chance to redeem itself, but the fact is, the problem lies at corporate. Living at The Venue has been the biggest headache of a living experience I've ever had. The building is new in age but made so cheaply that everything falls apart, including the parking garage gate which was broken 9 of the 12 months I was there (still charged the full amount for parking all 9 of those months). Communication is terrible and management puts more effort into sweeping problems under the rug instead of trying to fix things. The apartment is overpriced, unkept, and loaded with college students since the apartment was unable to fill units with young professionals as advertised. The Venue is now a glorified dormitory where the halls are one big trash can. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a living situation. The location is enticing but it is not worth the constant migraine or hole burned in your wallet.
I fully agree with the previous comment which I will attach below. The elevators are always broke! I've been trying to get a parking pass for 3months now. Every time I go to the rental office they say they're out of stock so you would think they would create a waiting list huh? Nope! The rental office is no help at all ! I wanted a one bedroom loft so a worker said they were making a waiting list and when I went to check, months later, I was told that that person was fired and they couldn't find the list. "Billed as "Premier Downtown Apartments," they're anything but. There are two "security gates" on the parking deck. One worked for about three weeks last summer. The other has been broken since January, which leads to a full parking deck, especially on game days, even though renters pay $40 a month to park there. The elevators are perpetually breaking down and take weeks to repair. The latest elevator outage has lasted three weeks. Repairs to your apartment take multiple requests and can go for weeks without being addressed. Security is about as lax as it can be. Weekends and holidays the place turns into an open party for what seems like every college student in Birmingham whether they know someone who lives at The Venue or not, making it next to impossible for actual paying residents to enjoy the amenities that the apartment complex does offer. The office staff is incompetent and fails to address even the most easily addressed concerns. In short--YOU DONT WANT TO LIVE HERE. They charge for the view but fail to keep the place livable."
