Right on the northeast corner of Madison and less than half an hour from downtown, Sun Prairie is an idyllic suburb with a unique personality all its own. Large recreation areas like Sheehan Park, North-East Greenspace, and Token Creek Preserve offer apartment residents lots of opportunities for outdoor fun. Sun Prairie is primarily residential, but it maintains a fairly robust downtown area along Main Street on the east side of the city.
The crime rate is well below the state and national averages, and parents will appreciate the abundance of high-performing schools all across town. Sun Prairie is very much in touch with its Midwestern agricultural roots—the Sweet Corn Festival is arguably the biggest event of the year, drawing upwards of 100,000 people from all across the region every summer.

Property Ratings at Iron Gate Apartments
I have and will continually recommend this apartment complex for those living in the sun Prairie area. The company went above and beyond rental expectations. Management/Whitney were easy to work with and the maintenance department consistently remedied any request in a professional and timely manner same or next day service dependent on request. Check out was a seamless process. I was able to schedule my check out with the property manager a few days in advance before my keys were due. The pool, fitness center, and grilling patios were an added bonus and we’re always well-maintained and added a sense of community. This, as well as monthly events, added to the experience and gave the place a comfortable and cozy vibe. All tenants were pleasant, easy to get along with, and from what I gathered enjoyed staying at Irongate as much as I had. Again, would highly recommend and loved my time staying at iron gate.
Kiss your security deposit goodbye. The move-out experience was terrible and painful. They treat you well when you live there but when it comes to moving out, they treat you like dirt. I took good care of my unit and cleaned 99% of it and they still charged me for things that I cleaned 100% spotless. They decided to replace blinds on my dime even though they were in perfect condition. They also decided to charge me to replace the counter tops that were in great condition and in no need of replacing. These people will do anything to take your security deposit, even if it means fabricating "damage" from thin air. Lived there for a year and it was a really nice place. Everything is pretty new. While I was living there I experienced no problems and was treated well. HOWEVER, my move out experience has irreparably tarnished the name of Goldleaf Development and I will be avoiding renting from them in the future. Disappointing.
While living in this apartment complex, my concerns and complaints mirror those who have already written reviews. Noise level seems a bit excessive, especially for an almost brand-new building (I rented from the newest building of the three). My main issue to checking out. As quoted from another review: "Make sure your move in check in list is very complete as they are eager to charge for any flaw when you move out." I would highly recommend taking photos. When moving out, there was no notice that the office would be closed and no instructions on how to proceed with checking out. Afterwards, they claimed to have found damage but their only proof is photos taken days after the check-out sheet was completed. I was told they were "too busy" to contact me or respond to my emails. Long story short: I would only recommend this renting here if you have absolutely no other options.
Great location in Sun Prairie and only a short drive to the east side of Madison. The gym and the pool are awesome perks.
Rented a 1 bedroom for 2 years. Onsite management is very responsive to any issues. Rate building manager a 5. The hallways are not air conditioned so they are hot in the summer and moving in the summer is steamy. The exercise area is also not air conditioned. Rate common areas a 2. This is a wood framed 4 story building so sound travels between apartments. Rate noise a 3. The builders did not seem to include any sound dampening between apartments. Underground parking is great. Rate parking a 5. Underground parking is not included with all apartments, so ask. Many families with children in the building. Some issues with noisey children. Quality of appliances, carpeting and fixtures is average. Rate appliances and fixtures a 3. The good news is if the appliances fail the management will respond quickly. Make sure your move in check in list is very complete as they are eager to charge for any flaw when you move out. The bathroom drains clog up easily. Overall better than most rentals in Madison area.
I have lived here since the summer and I really like it. I live in a studio and it has a really great layout (there are a few choices for layouts on studios and they are all really nice and spacious!). I have not had to call maintenance yet so I did not give them a rating, but I have heard from neighbors that they are always really great! I have only communicated with Corey, who is always really helpful and friendly. I believe we have a new assistant property manager, but I have not communicated with her yet. I'm sure she will be just as helpful and friendly :D So far, the apartments seem well insulated from the cold air this winter. It is in a great location, near shopping, auto shop, gas, food, bike paths, etc. The only thing I can really complain about are my neighbors above who stomp around (sometimes it sounds like they are jumping around) and slam their cupboards and doors without regard to others. My neighbors on both sides of me are really nice and I never hear any loud noises so I don't think it's the building that isn't sound proof. I really think it's the neighbors who are overly loud (especially since I didn't hear anything above until the end of August after having been there for over a month).
An okay building for over-priced rent. I have 2br/2ba unit. Can hear people above me stomping around as if there is no noise-proofing between the floors. Appliances are cheap, as is the flooring (not to mention installed poorly and some is delaminating already). Maintenance staff is either lazy or incompetent. I have needed to call upon them repeatedly for the same issue on a few occasions. Direct supervision required to get issues solved.
If you want to be in the perfect location and rent a new apartment with great amenities, Iron Gate is it. I have lived there for a year and a half and enjoyed every minute. They have a fitness center, pool and gas grills for everyone to use and the quality of those is high. I rented a 1 bedroom and only paid for rent and electricity. Sun Prairie Utilities has fiber optic internet in the apartments so my internet bill went right onto my electricity bill. The maintenance is fast and makes no mess and all the other residents are great and very respectful. If it wasn't for using our Home buyers clause and purchasing a house, i'd still be living here. Thanks!
The apartments are located near to all the basic necessities, to include a grocery store, gas station, hair cutters, and pet store. The rooms are spacious and well lit, with new furniture and quality air conditioning. The workout room rivals a local gym. The parking in the basement is a little tight, but is also well illuminated. I love my apartment. The only problem is that the office staff can be hard to get in touch with by phone. However, stopping by the office works fine. They are all very helpful and very eager to help out with any problem.
Amanda @ Iron Gate was professional and amazing fast with response time. Application approval was done in record time. I wish I didn't have to wait 2 months for my other lease to expire before I can move it. A co-worker of mine lives there and recommended I do the same. I really look forward to trying out the amazing fitness center! If TVs on each machine doesn't get me moving...I don't know what will. At the very least, I will utilize the pool. But with the homemade cookies they put out daily, I will need the fitness center:)
The Office Staff doesn't care if a piece of information provided in the Rental Application is not convincing to them. They don't like to give a call/callback or respond to your e-mails, you will be ignored though you paid your deposit much in advance.We had to make several trips to the Rental Office almost twice a day but they still like you to be waited for couple more days to know status of the Rental Application. Finally after 15 days I get a Rental Application Denied Mail that too when I already made arrangements to move with no less than 14 days left for me to get into another Apartment.

I am sorry if you felt ignored however there was not much I could do until I heard back from your employers as well as your landlord for references. It states right on our rental application that Goldleaf Development, LLC shall have up to 21 calendar days from acceptance of the earnest money to approve or deny the rental application. Things were looking fine until the 9th day when we received two landlord references stating one of you were never on the leases even though you put on your application that you were. I was disappointed that your applications proved to be inaccurate and thus we were forced to deny you. I mailed the denial letter along with your security deposit immediately after finding out this information.
