Property Ratings at Island Club
I recently had an unfortunate experience at Island Club apartments while house-sitting for my son, who had recently become a resident. Initially, I was impressed by the scenic views and the quality of his apartment. However, my positive impression was marred on Tuesday morning when my vehicle was unexpectedly towed from the property due to an expired tag. As I am currently in the process of relocating from North Carolina to Ohio and updating my vehicle registration, this oversight occurred during my transitional period. Upon visiting the office to inquire about my vehicle, which I learned had been impounded and was informed by the police about its status, I hoped for understanding given the circumstances. While I recognize the importance of adhering to rules and regulations, I believe a warning or notice placed on my vehicle would have been more appropriate, particularly since it was parked with its tag facing away from view against the sidewalk. I am concerned that the decision to tow my vehicle may have been directed from the office, as it would have required a physical inspection to verify my tag status. Regrettably, my interaction with the office staff was disappointing. Despite explaining my situation, I felt disregarded and received no assistance in facilitating the release of my vehicle from impound, despite there being no cost to the community. This incident resulted in personal expenses totaling $175, in addition to travel fees incurred to retrieve my vehicle. In conclusion, my experience with Island Club apartments was marked by a lack of empathy and proactive communication, which are essential in fostering a respectful and tenant-friendly living environment. I caution anyone considering relocation or anticipating changes in vehicle registration against choosing Island Club apartments. The management's handling of this situation reflects poorly on their professionalism and consideration for residents' circumstances.

We were so pleased with the leasing office. They went out of their way to help us and found the best property for our friends. It's a very nice complex and we know our friends will be happy! Nesha is great to work with!

Thanks for taking a moment to rate us, Marisa! Nothing brightens our day like positive feedback.
They failed us repeatedly in less than two months of living here. We were told we had one apartment then 3 weeks before move in, that unit was no longer available, but we could have a "unrenovated unit" the unit was not even ready when we moved in. When maintenance was going to happen to our apartment we received no notice. Under one instance we were told we needed to vacate the apartment for the day as they re-glazed the tub. We did not know this was going to happen until they contractor was already at our door. Finally, we needed to break our lease early. We went in to talk to the management office about the process and the fees/penalties associated with it. Three weeks after this discussion they told us that it was actually going to cost us $1000 more than we were originally told because they informed us wrong initially... I would be very cautious working with this property management and always get things in writing. There should have been red flags for us when they wouldn't issue a lease to sign until 10days before your move in date and the lease was 50+ pages.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. Please give us a call directly so we can address your concerns and clear up any misunderstandings. We hope to speak with you soon!
We didn't have pet nor baby. They simply added all the mess in the final receipt and charged me so much. I took this apartments even after few acquaintances warned me. Do not go there.

The place is poorly maintained with cheap, quick fixes. Had a clogged sink the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and was told the issue couldn’t be fixed until Friday and there was nothing they could do even though the company they claim to use has a 24/7 guarantee.

Feeling like we made a horrible mistake! I was surprised at the condition of the units that we were shown, especially at this price point. But we rented the updated version and had decent communication with Jamie for the week before our daughter moved in. The day we picked up the keys, Jamie wasn't working. Upon walking into the apartment there were some glaring things that made us quite concerned, but what to do...the uhaul was on the way! No fresh paint and dirty carpets greeted us. On the bedroom carpet, we found a pair of dried out contact lenses laying on the carpeting...DISGUSTING. We made a call to the front desk and of course, they didn't answer which is par for the course when calling this complex and you have to drive to the office. (really fun to deal with them from 2 hours away and the reason for a trip this weekend) as our daughter is beginning her 3rd week living there and the maintenance still haven't shown up for carpets, even though she was told they would be there a week after she moved and she waited all day for them. Maintenance has been in to paint a front door that we were told was being replaced bc it is absolutely destroyed...nothing like putting perfume on a pig, but I am convinced this is how this apartment management rolls :( A toilet paper holder was installed, a badly broken blind replaced but with a different kind than the one immediately beside it. A laundry room closet with mold/mildew spots all over the walls was slapped over with a coat of KILZ (maybe?) baseboards are disgusting with nicked paint and mold around the washing machine area too. The window that we were told was broken by them is still not replaced. We went in to talk to the assistant manager(another 2 hour trip bc our daughter has long hours) The weekend help got nasty with my husband and I and threw her co-worker Jamie, under the bus taking no responsibility or quite honestly even offering to help. I have never been so frustrated about something. These residents deserve better for the rent money they are spending. Our daughter lived in a Westerville community that was run amazingly for 2 years and she was proud to live in, didn't have mold and dirty conditions that were affecting her allergies, and when a situation did arise were handled quickly and efficiently and WITHOUT attitude. Shame on you Island Club. Time to step up!! You should be embarrassed.

We do regret your daughter had a hard time. Hopefully our new friendly & attentive office staff has been able to help you resolve all the issues in your daughters new home. Island Club has many new exciting things in the works and we hope all of our current and future residents know we are here to make sure your home with us at Island Club Apartments.
We scheduled a meeting about a week in advance to see the property and see what the property had to offer. Long story short is that we were never greeted (I don’t think we ever even learned her name), were told repeatedly that we need to provide paystubs on the application, (not an issue, we make plenty of money), and we’re handed an application. We didn’t get to see any of the property and left about 3 minutes after our appointment was scheduled. It was a complete waste of time and we were just baffled by the lack of interest. I’m not sure what the issue was. Overall a huge disappointment in a property that we were really excited to visit. Luckily we were not treated this way in any of the other 4 properties that we visited in the area. I wouldn’t waste your time if this is how they treat interested tenants.
I lived there for a year. Moving in there was a weird smell that was hidden by the overuse of air fresheners during the walk through. It took us 3 months and taking the oven out to clean it before the curry smell went away. In the summer there is a really nice pool, and the apartment stays cool. The people in the area are polite and safe. Winter was very cold and the apartment was poorly insulated. The money saved for AC in the summer was made up for with the high cost to heat the apartment in the winter. Often times the sidewalk was not shoveled. We also sometimes had problems with the autopay system which was annoying because it would undercharge and then we would be technically late. The staff are for the most part friendly. Two of the maintainence people were good, but one was when our toilet was clogged it took him two days to get back to us and then he wanted more details and he didn’t fix the problem. I ended up paying some guy in my church to fix it for me. Over all I feel very meh about the place for the price I paid.
I strongly encourage that you look elsewhere for a place to live. You would think that what you pay to rent these rundown apartments would get you better service, but that is not the case here. When we first moved in, the carpet inside was gross and smelly. Half of the outlets don't work, and the outdoor lights strobe throughout the night. Due to the ponds throughout the community there are geese year round. Pest control is included in rent, but why? There's goose poop all over the sidewalks throughout the community and there's currently a group of 20 geese roaming around. Due to the rainfall/snow during the winter, the parking lot outside our complex flooded because the main pond overflowed. I had called 3 times wondering when something was going to be done about it, but the leasing office didn't seem to take it seriously. It turns out it was happening all throughout the community. There were numerous posts on the online community portal, and the flooding was actually happening on all sides of the lake. It got so bad that it started flooding the garages that people pay to rent, and management FINALLY lowered the water level in the pond. During the winter the potholes in the parking lot got worse, and after calling about it, the leasing office told us to call the city. Last I checked apartment complexes were considered private property? It shouldn't be the tenants' job to make sure potholes are filled. Kids in the community aren't supervised. They ride their bikes in the middle of the street and stand in the middle of the road when people are trying to drive through. I think there are one or two dog clean up stations throughout the neighborhood that are never stocked, so people don't clean up after their dogs, and people walking through the grass between complexes are subject to stepping in dog poop. Management does a great job of never answering the phones, and making sure their office isn't staffed enough to do so. They could benefit to hire someone full time just to answer phones. In the peak of summer our air conditioning went out and can't be replaced. We were told it would take a week and were given a portable unit that blew our electric bill up $100 more than it normally is. A week later and it has yet to be fixed. I called when a week had passed inquiring when it would be finished, and no one got back to me until two days later. On the voicemail the agent left for me, she said our air conditioning would be fixed that day. It still didn't happen.
So I just want to leave an amazing review for this community. I was out searching with my brother for apartments, and we stumbled upon this one because of how nice the community looked, along with the super sweet pool ?? I had made an appointment with a lady named Jamie who was very polite on the phone. When I came in she kindly told me she would be right with me as she seemed to be finishing up with a different set of clients. As we sat to wait the manager named Lauren came out and assisted us so we didn’t have to wait! We were mainly looking for info and Lauren definitely got us what we needed along with took us on a tour of the apartment we were looking for! She also showed us some of the features about the community and while doing this several people who already reside there said hello to her which was amazing to me! ( I feel like most communities aren’t so friendly, the one I am at now definitely isn’t) The community is so nice and so are the ladies that work there! Thank you so much for giving me all the details and making me fall in love! I’m so excited to become a part of this community and move in, in a few weeks!

Everyone here has been great, from the maintenance team to the girls in the front office. The people in the complex are nice too. I think my only complaint would be the cardio equipment in the gym. They just need more treadmills and upgraded equipment. Pool is pretty nice though!
