Lived here for three years, the last year there was change in the staff and communication and service definitely suffered. Prior to that staff was attentive and took care of any issues promptly. Other than that I found the community to be quiet and neat. Just make sure you get everything in writing!
I got Very Lucky and got a pristine location. This place is beautiful and quiet. Management is Tops for me. I was in property management in San Diego, Ca. for 17 years. Worked for the best property management company on this earth. So far these managers are very on top of maintenance issues and a very friendly and caring staff. I hope to be here a long long time. If it's something I can work with I will. If it is something I can't and don't need to deal with I will submit a maintenance request. That's why I want to rent in an apartment complex, so I don't have the headache of contractors.

I had an issue with my apartment, and I emailed management and included a link to a video to help describe the situation. The next day, I got a call from the management and instead of being courteous and polite, she started the conversation with "I don't know what you're trying to do, blowing up my inbox, now my email is jammed!!" I was caught off guard by that, because well, I emailed her because she's the management and it is her job to attend to these issues. The management is unfriendly and unapproachable. It took a while of arguing with her to get her to send someone to come fix my unit's issue, which is just such a waste of time, given that it is her job to deal with things of this sort. And side note, they keep $80 of deposit for "carpet cleaning" no matter the condition or how long you lived there, so don't even bother to try to maintain the apartment, they will charge you regardless.

I moved into these apartments earlier this year and it was an easy process. I had been to a few other apartments but loved these ones when I saw them and it was close to everything. I had an upgraded apartment which was very nice but when I moved in I didn't have my cabinet doors on due to an order issue. For this the office staff gave me a credit towards my first months rent which they didn't have to because I understand they have a few hundred apartments and are busy but they did and they had them up as soon as they got them. The front office staff is awesome and maintenance was nice and responded to my maintenance requests in a good time. I wish I didn't have to move away from this apartment cause I loved them and the community but I would definitely recommend these aparmtents if you are looking for a family friendly and quite community.
We loved living in island palms. My kids loved the office staff (we will miss Kristi!) and maintenance was quick at replairs. I felt safe and comfortable living there. I loved the pool. We typically were the only ones swimming in it when we went during the day (on weekends that of course is different though). We moved because we needed more space and our rent continued to increase which we know is pretty typical but it is sad that good renters who have been there for a while aren't offered an incentive to stay. We saw two scorpions while living there (not bad for being there for 4 years) and as soon as I told the office they sent pest control over a few days later and maintenance checked the seals on our doors. I recommend living here, it's a great community and the office staff is the best. I'm glad we were able to spend 4 years there, I couldn't have asked for a better experience there.
Island Palms was our home for a year and a half. Overall it was a good living experience. We loved the area and the price. The first year we had little to no pest problems but then they started showing up. Over the last 6 months to the day we moved out, we found a total of 7 scorpions (4 living and 3 dead) and tons of crickets. We don’t know what caused the change. We were on the second floor too. If you do decide to make Island Palms your home, be sure to be proactive at requesting pest control, especially scorpion dusting. No one was hurt by any scorpions but be sure to be diligent about keeping them out. Also, be sure to take pictures of any prior damage or wear and tear on your apartment upon moving in so you are not charged for something you didn’t do when you move out. Lastly, If your apartment smells like smoke, staff won’t do anything about it so it is up to you to find a way to get the smell out and keep it out. Overall, it was good for the price, but you have to be really proactive about working with staff to get stuff done right.
