I love my apartment, and the community around it. There has been a problem with staffing - too much turnover. Just as we get to know the office folk, they move on. And service requests are not handled in a timely manner these days.

Safe, friendly, comfortable . We downsized to a two-bedroom and are very happy here. The amenities make it almost resort-like, and proximity to stores and services makes for easy living.

Nice location. Close to shops and the metro. Peaceful with all of the trees. Close bus stop location. Near supermarket and restaurants also a gas station.
I love living here! The community is awesome, the area is lovely, and its so reasonably priced for Reston. One of my favourite places I have lived in, and I look forward to staying!
Have lived here nine months so far. Love the neighborhood and the neighbors are quiet. Just enough space for my needs without being too big for a one bedroom.

Apartment is wonderful. Great location in Reston, great maintenance, only problem is noise. Can actually walk to a wonderful shopping center if your car is being worked on, or just to get the exercise.

Repeated turnover of management is a worry because residents are never informed that of changes. Those in the front office , however, have been consistently professional and pleasant.

J Harbor is a great place to live. The community is very wooded and kept clean. Service requests are resolved quickly and the staff are polite and responsive.

The office staff is unhelpful, rude, and nonexistent. The mail room is unorganized also, when a package is delivered to the office, anyone can walk right in and take it. They are not locked up and nobody checks to see if the package belongs to the person picking it up.

Apartment is acceptable, starting to get a little more expensive than I think it should be for everything included. Management could be better and maintenance could be faster and more effective.

So far so good. nice and quiet. feels cozy. nice high ceilings. overall not too bad :). Wish the pool was deeper but luckily there a pool not too far up the street. I hope to ustilize that over the summer.

Resident events have essentially been discontinued while still being charged an amenity fee. It is borderline insulting that the only resident event is a biannual coffee and donuts in the front office well into work hours on a weekday. The flyers that discuss this event are only posted days in advance on the boards by the mailboxes and then left up for months (only to be taken down when corporate officials tour the property). Next, the maintenance has become a joke. The previously routine preventative pest control and gutter and dryer vent cleaning have been discontinued. These need to resume. Additionally, the time to complete submitted maintenance tickets should not be measured in anything but days at the most. Taking weeks to months to complete simple requests is outrageous. Finally, the trash pick-up needs to be more frequent. It is not only malodorous, but the broken glass that litters these areas is a hazard created by the weekly pile-ups.

This property does not have enough maintenance staff for the upkeep it requires. Maintenance around the property needs to be done: the gutters on the front 1421 are completely blocked, creating lakes of water up to the foundation. The current freeze on ordering maintenance supplies is ridiculous after not attending to broken appliance requests for months. Communication is still nonexistent, I personally am tired of all the “sorry”s, it’s time to do better. I would also love to see real resident events come back (“donuts in the office” for half an hour during the work week twice a year isn’t an event, it’s breakfast for the office ??) we used to have everts at least once a month like painting, holiday parties, etc

Since the building was sold and management changed, they have stopped being responsive to tenant issues. Items have gone months without repair, and management has indicated they have no intention to address concerns raised in any meaningful way.

Pro: I love where I live - the apartment is the perfect size, the little patio brings in nature, the windows give us great sunlight. The local grounds are kept well. Con: There have been changes at the management office that were never explained to the residents, and the communication needs to be improved. The email that comes in on some days is generic and uninformative.

Staff is nice and the apartment is well designed, but there are a number of issues upon moving in that I did not anticipate including 2 of the appliances not working appropriately. I submitted a maintenance request and haven’t heard back from anyone.

The people, apartment, and location is very nice; however, prior to move in, the apartment wasn’t completely cleaned and some items were not fixed.

Changes in Management have lead to a lot miscommunication. The old manager Tommy was great. He did the best with what he had. Corporate is to blame because they didn’t provide him with the support he needs. This complex used to be amazing and looked amazing. But now the back of the complex is like landfill, full of garbage. Lots of residents with dogs who don’t pick up after them. Then you have residents who just don’t care about the property itself. I give it 3 stars cause I know Tommy tried but he could only do so much.

Most people are nice and mostly around our age. There is a large friendly dog community and we love walking our dogs in the area. I would recommend this community to anyone.

A very nice, quiet community in North Reston, close to North Point and easy to get to Reston town center. Buildings are solid, quiet, and well insulated. Staff is very friendly.

I've lived here for 3 years now and I don't plan on moving anytime soon. I love the location and apartment size/layout. When I moved in, there was new carpet and everything was very clean. I'm on the top floor and so there's lots of light. Maintenance services is very responsive and helpful. I also love having the optional garage for my car and extra storage. It's near the car washing area so that's a plus! The dumpster areas can get messy when the residents don't put their trash in the bins or dumpster and then the animals get to it, but I don't know how to fix that (other than pick up what I can).

Cozy apt, cozy area. Very quiet. Expensive but that comes with the area. Workers here are very polite and knowledgeable. Only thing I can say bad is that the repairs done in the apts are not the best and some may lack. But overall it’s a decent and cozy apt.

The staff is always attentive, the neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, and the maintenance crew is very responsive. I have been living here for almost two years now and I would gladly recommend this complex to friends and family.
Apart from slow ticket resolutions the community is nice, calm and convenient. It’s close to a shopping plaza and the state park. The apartment is spacious

For the most part, we have enjoyed staying at J Harbor Park. It's a beautiful, quiet neighborhood and is relatively clean. We have had no issues with pests or neighbors, and everyone is very friendly. We have had difficulties with timeliness of maintenance requests and communication around requests mostly related to air conditioning. Most of our frustration has come from a breakdown of communication where we would be told something would be fixed and we would have to continue following up constantly because it would not get resolved and no one could provide accurate updates. Other than the occasional nuisance that tends to only happen in the summer, we find ourselves with very little issues at the complex and appreciate the reasonable price (and reasonable annual increases) of the apartments. We are appreciative that we are able to live in a nice neighborhood tucked away with beautiful greenspace for such a great price point.

Do not move in here. The maintenance service is a nightmare. The AC does not work. It’s 78 degrees in my unit. The bathtub will not drain. The wired smoke detector was inoperable, taken away by maintenance and not replaced until 2 weeks later. The Fairfax County fire department told maintenance to fix it after I called the fire marshal’s office. I have no confidence it was fixed and question the fire safety risk to the entire community. A Washington Gas inspection on November 8th, 2022 revealed a gas leak around my water heater. It had been leaking for an undetermined amount of time. I don’t know if it was fixed. The windows do not open or operate properly. I have lived here for six months. My groceries and other packages were stolen. Theft is a problem. Safety is my main concern. The bottom line. They don’t care. The management, leasing office and maintenance are not responsive. Nabil the latest lease consultant in the office is probably very kind and responsive to potential tenants. Beware!!! This is a beautiful clubhouse and office fully maintained. Nothing behind or around it is safe or well maintained.

Toured this complex. Apartments were old and disgusting. I walked to 3 buildings and smelled weed at all 3. Heard a guy screaming at people. High rent price. Awful

We have been living here for 2 1/2 years and couldn't be happier. We love the apartment layout in our 2 bedroom, 2 bath. Its spacious and I love the fact I have a dining room. The management is great, they care, and will help you in anyway they can. I mean they know your name, you're not just a rent check. I like that!! The maintenance is top notch. Requests are handled quickly. It's not unusual to get hellos and waves from the people around you. The grounds always are taken care of as well. It is a well run, well kept community. and its in a great area of Reston. There a shopping center right up the road, that has shopping and food. It's just a hop skip and jump to the Town Center and the toll road. I highly recommend it here at Harbor Park.

Moved in a few days ago and could not be happier with the decision to move here! The surrounding area is beautiful and the apartments are only half a mile from a shopping center with Giant, a few banks, and many restaurants. On top of the amazing location the management here could not be better. From the second we stepped into the office when we were first touring apartments to through our move in, they have been nothing but helpful. Very nice and accommodating group. Highly recommend The Apartments at Harbor Park!!

Much turmoil here. New management during significant ongoing construction leaves much to be desired. The motto seems to be low budget - needed siding replacement in this aging community is crossing 6 months and there is no end in sight as of Sep. 2015 (seemingly from low quality construction company with inadequate staff and project management). Multiple water and HVAC outages show strain of age. No rent breaks offered to residents during lack of use/disruption to the property from siding, sidewalk and other repairs. Better value for the money and less disruption elsewhere.

Having lived at Harbor park for just over a year, we are incredibly happy to call it our home. The property is surrounded by trees, and adjacent to Baron Cameron Park, which provides plenty of open space (soccer fields, etc.). The property is quiet and the residents are respectful and friendly toward one another. The management helps cultivate this by sponsoring events such as poolside happy hours with live music and even their very own wine-and-canvas nights. There has been a bit of turnover among the office staff within the past year, however the staff routinely makes a point to connect with the residents, meet their needs, and know their names. We recently moved to a larger apartment within the property, and the management made the process quite seamless. They offer a reasonably priced smooth-move program which can take care of all the cleaning and painting needs upon moving out. Additionally, whenever we have encountered a maintenance issue, the work orders have been addressed quickly and thoroughly - always within two days. Harbor Park is located within walking distance of the grocery (Giant) and the Reston Farmers' Market from May to November (Lake Anne Plaza). With the recent completion of the first portion of Metro's Silver Line, Metro is not inconvenient as a means to travel to into DC.

This is a great apartment with a very responsive management company. However, it is extremely remote so be sure to have a car or be prepared to take Ubers or do a lot of waiting for the bus. The apartments are extremely spacious and clean. Great place to raise a family.
