West Des Moines is located in three Iowa counties. Residents of this area enjoy perusing the local shops at Valley Junction, which began in 1893. Today it serves as the city’s business district, flavored by undeniable community tradition. With more than 100 specialty shops, art galleries, and restaurants, there’s always something new to discover.
On the other side of West Des Moines, Jordan Creek Town Center occupies a large fashion space that includes a 3.5-acre lake and boardwalk. Many apartments are just minutes from the mall’s stores, movie theater, and lakeside restaurants. The city is located in America’s heartland and has cherished quilting since its existence. Quilt-making goes back to the 18th century in West Des Moines, and many people proudly display their creations at city craft expos.
In addition to quilting, residents of West Des Moines enjoy the local productions at Tallgrass Theatre Company on Vine Street.

Property Ratings at Eastwood on Grand
Currently it's 11:30 pm and they are running a vacuum downstairs because the water line is broken. Pros: mostly it's quite and they are good at enforcing noise issues. It's clean and the stove and refrigerator work. Cons: to many to mention. Constant water emergencies throughout the whole complex that shut the water off with or without notice. In my building alone the record was five times in one month. Price gouging. The only thing I had to pay for when I first moved in was electricity. Now they pay for nothing. They even charge you for sewage and trash. On top of that they have a mysterious four dollar billing fee. You can't drop your rent payment in the lockbox anymore so you are forced to pay online with a four dollar fee. Towing: when they do work on the parking lots they give little notice and will tow your car. I had to pay,300.00 to get my car. Security: they have locks on the building doors but don't issue keys anymore. Get a lockbox. They don't accept packages in the office anymore so packages are constantly getting stolen by kid and random people that roam the buildings. They charge you for literally everything. I got a Text that said they were going to do a blind inspection and it would be 70.00 to replace them. If you have bad batteries in your fire alarm they charge you a 35.00 fine. The neighborhood is seedy. I heard gunshots in the parking lot a couple of years ago. Just stay away this place sucks since the new company took over.

I cannot stress it enough: anywhere else is better than Eastwood on Grand. I lived there for 1 year, and it was the worst year of my life. I was constantly anxious, scared, and uncomfortable living in my apartment. The biggest incident here was an apartment fire. The fire was in the unit below mine, and I was NEVER notified that the fire occurred. I came back from my vacation, and my front door to my apartment was unlocked. Anyone could have walked right in and stollen all of my belongings. All my windows were open as well. There was fire and smoke damage across every inch of my apartment. I called the apartment manager, and asked when they were going to clean my unit. Soot stained every single surface, all of my personal property, the walls, the floors, EVERYTHING. I had to move in to a hotel for 10 nights. And throughout those 10 days, I fought tooth and nail to get the apartment manager to agree to clean my unit. They came to "inspect" it, and claimed that I was overreacting and no other tenant was "complaining" about the smoke. She said she did not smell any smoke and did not see any damage. She also said she had no idea why I was even calling to "complain" about it. My apartment was completely unlivable. I demanded they get a professional to come look at it after being treated like absolute garbage. The professional confirmed the need for the entire unit to be cleaned by a fire and restoration service. I had to continue to call each day to ask when they were cleaning it. It took me days before they finally got United in to clean my apartment. There was also a flood in the unit directly above mine. Half of the ceiling tiles fell through the ceiling. I called each day for 7 days to get them to come replace the tiles. Spiders were infiltrating my bathroom during these 7 days. I rented a garage from December through April. The first key they gave me was to a garage that was filled all the way to the door with garbage and junk. I sent a picture to the apartment manager and asked for a different garage. She said that tenants leave their items after they end their garage lease and that I should just throw out the items. The garage was PACKED with garbage. I said that it was not my job to clean their garages. She gave me a key to a different garage that has a motorcycle in it and some other items. Please, please, please, do not rent from Eastwood on Grand or any other Artisan Apartments. I wish someone had warned me before.

Most buildings have a hard time giving you reliable water. You might wake up without. They gave me the keys to a nonfunctional unit (sewage coming up into my tub and toilet on a regular basis in the beginning) and still made me pay full rent. Had to use my bf’s bathroom across town. Mold in the walls. Put warped rained on cabinets in my unit. Can’t store bikes on balconies. One of the strictest fine happy landlords I’ve had, but good luck getting ahold of them.
You do not know if you will have water. It could be a Friday at 9:00am or a Sunday at 4:00pm doesn't matter as they will shut the water off and if you are lucky you'll get "notified". The notification is a text before they shut it off or they will just shut it off without notice. If the office is closed I guess tenants don't get notified. It will be off for 20mins to a couple hours best of luck knowing which one it will be. Its listed as an "emergency" every time and they apologize for the inconvenience but turn around and turn it off again the next day.

Dear Valued Resident- Thank you for your review. We have taken your feedback and have implemented a strategy which counteracts your previous experience positively. We thank you for being a valued resident here at Eastwood on Grand.
It's fine on the location. Price isn't worth it though apartments aren't updated and the concrete for the roads here are torn up. Even on the third floor the walls and floors are so thin I can hear neighbors and people in the hallway. You can hear everything and feel movement from anywhere the hallway, the bathroom and even hear/feel any openings of the sliding doors. Dogs barking, kids screaming and running you name it you hear it/feel it. Been here 3 weeks and I want to off myself. Could hear the neighbor beneath me coughing....it's 10pm and someone is running around the halls. Just don't live here. They also want to up the rent...for what? They've done nothing to this crap hole.
