Property Ratings at Kensington Preserve Apartments
Our experience at Kensington has been very positive. The complex is newer so the units and appliances are all updated. Each unit has a washer and dryer and free parking with a one-stall garage included. Wifi is required to be purchased through the complex, but it’s high-speed and secure and inexpensive. Water, sewer, and trash are included. Our utilities were around $60-70 per month for gas and electric together. We feel safe in our apartment with the separate building and unit entry. Close to everything in Standale and on Alpine and the office is great at answering questions quickly. Overall a great experience!
My husband and I moved into Kensington in 2019 and were here for 2 full years. Over the years we couldn't be happier with the experience we had at Kensington. We love the updated appliances, washer/dryer in our apartment, the size of the rooms/closets, covered garages, and much more! We honestly cannot say good things about this place! We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an apartment. The office staff is extremely responsive and they truly care. Its affordable with reasonable monthly prices, packages to include wifi/internet, etc. Check out what Kensington has to offer because I know you will love it too!
You need to live here! This is by far the friendliest community I have ever lived in! The people that live here are kind and considerate, the staff is absolutely amazing at responding timely and addressing any issues that may arise. The apartments are very cozy! I love the amount of space that is available. I live in the one bedroom unit and love the layout! I have never lived in an apartment that comfortably fits my King size bed and all of the furniture until now! I love having my own washer and dryer and garage! The garages are a space and a half so it fits my SUV and storage shelves. This is truly the hidden gem of the Westside! KP is tucked away from all the busy and is quite peaceful, but is also a short drive to shopping and many food choices! You seriously cannot go wrong living here! Hopefully you will consider joining our family community!
The management office is extremely friendly and oriented towards customer service. The maintenance department is efficient, timely, friendly and helpful. The apartment is comfortable and spacious. As a long time resident of almost 9 years I happily give Kensington Preserve Apartments a five star rating!
Apartments for a good price. The location isn’t the best if you want to live near the city. They management was great and getting things fixed was fast and easy. Overall a great place to live.
My husband and I have been living here for about 7 months now. We have a third floor, 2 bed 2 bath apartment. This place is huge! Because we are on the top floor, we have a cathedral ceiling in our living/dining room and a little nook area in the spare bedroom. LOVE having our own washer and dryer and a dishwasher. Both hardwood floors and carpet. The garage is super nice too and there isn't an added fee for it. However, we still hear our neighbors despite being told that this place was basically soundproof before we moved in. The appliances look nice but are just meh. With how much we pay to live here, you'd think things were better quality. They also don't do much for landscaping outside, there are weeds everywhere. Our neighbor on the bottom floor takes better care of the landscaping than the complex does (he plucks weeds and waters the grass lol). We plan to move when our lease is up as we want a house. Don't want to live across from a senior home either...
Our second floor 2 bed/2 bath apartment in building (I) was about 2-3 years old when we moved in around August of 2018 and we could not believe the great finishes that were afforded to us given the competitive market rate we paid. Here are the main reasons why we lived here for two years (recently relocated to SE MI); (1) beautiful and natural landscapes around the buildings with farmland and cornfields behind the building (great for walks and jogs), (2) less than 6 miles away from the Alpine retail corridor & 4 miles from the Lake Michigan Drive retail/restaurant corridor, (3) newer construction, (4) black or stainless steel appliances, (5) generous floor plans (SF) and outside balcony, (6) comfortable and responsive HVAC, (7) Anderson style windows (8) comfortably padded carpeted areas where there is not nice LVT or LVP flooring transitions, your own private garage (great for storage!) and last but not least (10) very good response time and customer service from Management and Maintenance. Many apartments around the greater Grand Rapids with similar $1k monthly rental ranges are older (60's to 70's vintage) but Kensington Preserve had the best quality apartment that we've leased over the past 10 years across SW and SE Michigan. Especially given that newly constructed apartments in GR are quoting market rates above $1,500. We also enjoyed the fact that were within 2 miles from two I-96 on/off ramps which allowed to us quickly travel to the Lakeshore for weekend getaways and get to and from work very easily!
I love my apartment. My neighbors are quiet. The complex is very clean. Highly recommend living here.
I’ve called Kensington Preserve and left messages 3 times including both a call back number as well as an email to contact me back and have yet to hear anything back since early last week. Apparently I will be moving to one of my other options.

We sincerely apologize for the delayed response. We hope you will consider our community in the future. We strive to be responsive and professional when speaking with prospective and existing residents. This busy season must have gotten the best of us....we won't let it happen again! :)
This complex is amazing... most of the time. I've lived here a few year and it has been heaven!! It was quiet, the neighbors were all really friendly. Maintenance is great and quick to respond. Its kind of out in the country but super close to restaurants and shopping, etc. The leasing office has always responded appropriately when things came up. The negatives are that it is mandatory to have cable and wifi (which increases your rent). Like I said, this place WAS heaven. Unfortunately several residents moved out and thats all it took to turn our lovely building into a frat house! The new residents are rude and unfriendly (not the complex's fault). There is one apt with 3 to 7 people living in it at any one time. The noise is CONSTANT! The management has tried to intervene but the main resident thinks he can do whatever he wants- parking his vehicle in front of my garage blocking me from getting out or parking inside. My experience living here at Kensington Preserve has gone from a dream to a nightmare! Last year I would have given this complex a 5 star rating.

We strive to provide a quiet and comfortable environment for all residents. We encourage residents to contact the office immediately if there are any noise complaints or matters related to other residents. Our hope is to achieve a resolution promptly and amicably. However, if the issues continue, we do enforce the terms of the lease and will take the appropriate action.
I simply love living here! Quiet, country setting. Wonderful neighbors and nice staff. Large apartments for the price!
Our 1 bedroom apartment is really great and we like it, other than the fact that everyone here is a smoker so expect to see tons of cigarette butts by the entryway to every building. Although the apartment is nice, the management here is enough to have us not renew our lease after a year. We have had multiple problems with them; double billing us for rent one month (which they kept and weren't supposed to bill us the following month, but did anyways), forgetting to charge us one month out of direct deposit (so we had to call to make sure we weren't given a late fee), and don't even get me started on the cable/internet bundle with Charter. There have been so many problems with it, and the internet is slower and constantly goes out, forcing us to call Charter at least twice a week to tell them the problem. They won't let us get out of the addendum we signed for the bundle, for no good reason. This place could have so many good things going for it, but the management ruins most of it.

We strive to provide a clean and comfortable community for all residents. We encourage all residents to notify the office of any issues so they can be immediately addressed.
Being recently married, we had a much smaller apartment with little space for storage. I serve in the Army Reserves and have to keep a lot of equipment on hand for when I get called up to serve. The wife supports me, but we really needed more room to not be so cluttered. The Kensington Preserve apartments opened up, and we quickly reserved a spot while the new building was still under construction. The staff was very helpful as we prepared to move in. Now with all our space, and deck to boot, my wife can decorate and focus on school while we enjoy the comforts of a new home.
Kensington Preserve is away from everything to be nice and quiet. You can be downtown Grand Rapids in 15 minutes. Rents better compared to the City. Excellent staff. Close to Highway and Standale shopping.
Kensington Preserve Apartments are great! They are a great value for your money! Newer apartments with new appliances. I always feel very safe there too! The office staff is always super helpful. Love living at Kensington!
