Located about eight miles north of Downtown Seattle, the area of Lake City was once a railroad stop. It was named in 1906 and quickly developed into a suburb of Seattle. During Prohibition, the area was unincorporated. So when Seattle joined Prohibition, Lake City supplied the roadhouses and speakeasies barred from the nearby city. Lake City became a Seattle neighborhood in the mid-1950s. With Lake Washington as the neighborhood’s sparkling gem, residents are rediscovering this northern neighborhood.
Lake City stretches from the lake to roughly 15th Avenue in North Seattle. While the speakeasies are long gone, there are several popular destinations along Lake City Way, including HellBent Brewing Company Elliott Bay Public House & Brewery, Brother Barrel, and 2C Thai. If you are moving to Lake City with a pet, you’ll appreciate Dogwood Play Park, an indoor dog park and bar complete with a treat bar and birthday cakes for pet parties.

Property Ratings at King Arthurs Court
I moved to King Arthur's Court nearly a year ago, wanting to get closer to the city but still staying in a relatively inexpensive area. Honestly you can't beat having quiet neighbors, a huge living room and all updated appliances! It even has full size W/D in unit which was hard to come across in Seattle for the price! The maintenance team has always been super quick and the community within is clean! The manager there; Carlin is AMAZING! He is so helpful and is so responsive to any questions or concerns I have! He even hosted a Breakfast event so I was able to grab a quick bite before work! Oh and another great value is the one free parking spot in the garage! Many places I looked at we upwards of $100-$200 per month, but here it is FREE with the apartment which was a lifesaver for me! If you don't drive its also a short distance to the bus line as well. The neighborhood is great and you are minutes from shopping and a short lyft ride to the airport or downtown. Honestly this is the best apartment I have lived at in Seattle and hope to stay here for a long time!
First few years was nice, with as our manager. After the change in the management, getting a new manager, it start to go downhill. Problems kept piling up, 2015 was bad. There’s too many things to list, I’ll try to keep it short and sweet. We had issues with our major appliances, they was getting old. This includes the dish washer (doesn’t clean, you have to hand washing before using it, plus after washing everything is over soaked, weird - see photo), oven (takes too long to cook anything), and refrigerator (humidity was too high). We did talk to her about those issues repeatedly and she didn’t do anything that fixed the problem. She just tested the temperate in the refrigerator, humidity is a different thing, our food rot or go bad faster than it should. With dish washer, she just had the hot water turned up, to the point where it could burn our hands when washing our hands. We complained about this for 2 years or so. Things was done sloppy in the first place such as the blinds bolted to the wall, not snapped in the place as it should, fixtures accidentally painted over, so on. Twice there was leak from upstairs, they accused us of causing it but found out it came from upstairs. They did ripped apart ceiling and floor to find it, then patching it up horribly. They tend to patch not fix in our experience. Once one of our window got broken, they didn’t fix it for 3 months, it hot at the time, during the summer. Toilet seat was so old, you can see the paint wearing off,. Parking got worse over time, sometime i get my assigned parking spot, inside the garage gets taken by someone else. The manager didn't care when I told her. We saw a lot of nice neighbors move out. Trash bin gets overloaded often, people there starting to care less. The location is great, everything is close by, a lot of drunks and bums hanging out nearby tho. Don’t expect them to fix anything and the rent shooting up every year.
Most apartment complexes have the basic "Aggressive Breed" list that bans certain dogs. This place however does not list the fact the manager disliked a hound breed howling at her as she walked by its owners door and now all hounds are banned (Beagles etc). I had asked her what about chihuahuas or small dogs breeds that tend to do the same thing and she didn't seem to care, it was just this one apartment that she didn't like. This was very disappointing and definitely a surprise since our dog is a beagle mix and we generally never have to worry about his size or breed restrictions. As far as I've been able to see, it hasn't been easily listed to see online before you go in. So if you have a breed that is even partially mixed with hound it is banned from this place. Be Aware.
This apartment was in a great location in Lake City, right off of Lake City Way. The administration was helpful in assisting our move in August, but they did not notify us of the construction to re-panel the entire outside of the apartment until November without an offer of a prorate. Therefore, every weekday morning beginning at 8am sharp construction, music, and worker conversation and singing has begun. This can be distracting for most, but I have learned to tolerate it since they usually operate during business hours. The major concern I had as a result of the construction was there is no sunlight entering my apartment at any time of the day due to the tarps covering my window, and my balcony was boarded shut. One day they even taped the windows shut with plastic wrap, so that no ventilation could occur (especially in the event that my oven was smoking due to cleaning solution left in from the cleaning lady which filled our apartment and caused the fire alarms to go off; also, there are no air conditioning vents). Additionally, because the walls are so very thin, my downstairs neighbor hears the music from my adjacent neighbor on the same floor and emails our landlady every single morning to complain about noise that we did not make (or were even awake to make). As you can see it is very frustrating, but people keep telling me its the less expensive area to live in in Seattle, so I manage to deal with it. I just wish the old man would stop giving noise complaints about us, and I want to see time of day in my apartment. Considering both of these variables, some times have been very annoying and gloomy.
I have lived here for several years as of now the complex is covered in a black plastic mesh and my exterior door is nailed shut. this condition points to poor ventilation, its still 77 in the kitchen at 5:30 am.we did finally ran the broiler last night(we cant afford to eat out every night) took several hours to cool down enough to sleep. The sounds of construction stick with you for awhile i would swear they were cutting the same piece of siding for 45 minutes. Not a happy camper after just signing the lease 30 days before four months of construction began.
Two years ago we lived through the roof install.right after signing our new one year lease they began a four month exterior remodel.after cutting down most of the trees on the property they installed scaffolding on which they hung a black plastic mesh(during the hottest august in recent history) we lost the use of the common areas (BBQ) and deck was off limits and now they nailed the sliding glass door it shut. These are temporary discomforts but ones i did not need to live though. The long term . i have never used heat in our apt. i live on the 4th floor, during the summer in the late afternoon and early evening is when this building really heats up its been 80 in the kitchen, with the mesh we have seen 88 (at 7:00 am)there is a Hugh fan but it only seems to make noise. even after losing 50 pounds , I still cant walk across the floors with out major creaking.it seemed to be a newer building but after living here i have doubts.even with Seattle housing i am now looking else where.
