Property Ratings at Knollwood Towers West Apartments
This building is a wreck! You will always be dealing with water shut offs due to leaks, elevators constantly down, and unhelpful management. Utility bills are outrageously expensive. Apartments are not cleaned between tenants. I was overcharged on rent and took management weeks to fix it. Everyone you talk to wants to move out as soon as their lease ends or wants to break lease due to issues in the building and with management.
My experience is ...no garage update for a while..they are supposedly working on it but heard nothing for a while. Security is a joke...still afraid....don't really see the security they said was coming around much if at all. Mostly saw them sitting in lobby instead of walking the halls. Rent increases but nasty and dirty laundry washers...people can't seem to figure out how to put the detergent in not on the washers...make sure you tour the laundry room if you tour the building. One good thing is the work out room...but its not enough to make up for the lousy office service. Office staff is not consistantly in office.
They hired security but I am not sure it will help. All around just poor management. Place if full of people who leave garbage on floors. Leave laundry in machines for hours, nasty tennants. Office staff is not good and my guess is corporate is not either, no idea how to contact them.
This is a much nicer apartment than my super cheap apartment that I used to live in which was located in an old converted farmhouse in Loretto right down by the railroad tracks with extremely loud trains passing by at all hours of the day or night. For many months, us residents had or some of us still had to or still have to find our own parking outside even if it's off the property. The reason for this situation to structural repairs that needed to be made. This is so that the structural section of the stacked garage system does not collapse on any of the residents or their vehicles. I live in a Studio apartment on the 2nd Floor so I and others on the lower levels were allowed to return to the First Level Garage for several months now. Sadly, renters on the upper levels are still unable to park in their stalls in the upper part of the garage. Instead of a wrought iron deck barrier mine is a Very Thick concrete barrier, Have 1 Sink/Disposal, and the shower spigot is mounted way too low for a man as tall as me and the bathroom and kitchen are super tiny. As far as maintenance, it can take a long time for responses. But, I received a surprise air conditioner unit upgrade when mine was no longer blowing as cold as it should. My Picture Window Gap is unrepairable and my storage unit in the garage is unstenciled but they did a great job cleaning the rock debris out of it. I have 1 broken cable outlet but at least there are 2 cable outlets and the other one works fine. I plan on moving out early next year when my lease is up as I will be moving in with a very good friend into a much newer property. I chose this place because it offered full utilities. Sadly, on my latest lease, water and sewage was removed. The extra cost is probably less than the typical apartment lease price hike. If you're looking for a nice, cheap apartment to live in, This is one of the better apartment complexes located here in Hopkins. Unfortunately, safety is an issue because there was a police shooting in the lobby downstairs recently. However, I have enjoyed living very much.
Management incompetant... Corporate does not seem to care at all about Knollwood Towers West. Loud residents, law enforcement here way to often. Hard to know if corporate office is awfull or office personal, very hard to get a hold of any management. They get back to you when they feel like, keep the door closed...they could leave it open but don't. Noisy people in parking lot, and noisy cars. Shooting in buidling next to us...area going down hill.
Worst place to live at. No management on site, they respond to maintenance issues after a month and even after that nothing gets fixed. Toilets are constantly leaking, there’s a mold everywhere and it’s really disgusting and dangerous especially if you have kids. No available parking and the garage is broken. the trash is always overfilled and disgusting. No good laundry and the list goes on and on. They have bugs and tenants smoke inside the apartment. On top of that they keep increasing the rent!!!worst place.!! I could have rated 0 but unfortunately that option is not available.!
Its been a while, still no new update on garage. Trash room piled to the ceiling and all over the floor. Noisy, fighting, loud music. Garbage left in the elevator. Poor management, they have excuses but it all starts with them. They do the renting and its up to them to make sure they do a good job filling the building with people who don't trash it. Look and notice nobody is bragging about how great the place is.
Worst apartment ever. First off no parking. Been here for almost a year the garage isn’t fix yet . The office never pick up calls. Have missing package list go on and on , Do not accept any room near the street all you here is loud people and loud music . Apartment smells with smoke I pay almost 80 dollars for water. I live alone and I stay at my boyfriend apartment most of the time so I don’t know why it is so high. The best part about me living here, is me moving out . I HATE THIS PLACE
Residents show little respect for place..leave trash in halls and elevater. Management does not act quickly and has really made this place almost unliveable. Upper garage is out..no idea when or if being fixed. Police seem to be at building alot. Laundry room is a mess, machines not working...residents leave clothes in machines for hours...days...
Resident pays for water, sewer, and trash...but apt is not individually metered so if you are in a studio you will be paying around $70 per month and more for 1 berms and even more for 2 berms. Packages are stolen because they are left out on the ledge NOT secured in a room for the Resident. Although an underground garage stall is supposed to come with the unit, it isn't part of the rent so, half the building has been without a stall since Aug 2020 because the floor was falling apart and crumbling through to the lower level parking. No rent abatement given to those residents. They won't do regular maintenance claiming it's due to the pandemic but according to lawyers they HAVE TO as there is and was no mandate. There is a lease addendum saying no dish satellite antennas are allowed however if you want to fight it there is an order from FCC that protects renters to have one. The lease is 37 pages long due to mold and bed bugs addendum for example. The water is shut off at least 2 times per month because the pipes are bad. In the winter there is ice on the sidewalks and I have know ppl that have fallen. Not enough parking. When they say "we will look into it and call you back" that is code for we will ignore your request. So many moving out because we are fed up with Sage. Lease says you can't smoke, vape...not even CBD- NOTHING!! the only good thing and I mean only is the walls are thicker than your average apt. Caveat...Don't rent from an apt that faces the parking lot unless you want to hear constant loud music and honking from cars. BTW...manager does not live on site nor does maintenance.
This place was fantastic, with people all backgrounds. Wonderfull people from India and many other places. People were respectfull, felt safe, and it was quiet here. Management company was great. Maintanance team was fantastic..so was office personal. Sage is the new owner and if you see they own other places your looking at take note of their reviews. If you tour this place look at the carpet in the halls they were nice before, now been trashed. Smell the halls, supposed to be nonsmoking. Watching cars park every which way in the parking lot and in the fire lane often. Garage is out of order for half the building. People loud in the halls late at night. Office people here are not able to do what needs to be done.
The walls are super thick and yet you can hear some people who live here making noise. Should be a quiet building but its not due to some loud people. The building has done little since it keeps happening. I think its really become bad since Sage became the Manager. They own other buildings in the area so be carefull. People seem to be moving out lately.
Snow is here and if you drive by the building you can see that some of the tennants have been plowed into parking spots. Also, some tennants have to dig out their cars from street parking. The problem has to do with the parking garage being out of order. Also laundry room is not checked regularly and if it is its still a mess with machines not working. Place smells like people are smoking, and not a safe feeling like it was. Hard to reach office staff most of the time. Once Sage took over you could see this place turn awfull almost immediately. Was great before and the corporate does not seem to be able to keep competent people around long in the office.
Garage is out of order..no news on when it will be back. Better just to say I can not say they are anymore the poor...they just don't run this place like it should be. Non smokers like no smoke....and it smells like smoking is going on here.
I’m very disappointed. I booked a tour of this property online on their website directly. I showed up at the time and place and no one was aware that I was scheduled for a tour. Property seemed poorly managed. The interim receptionist tried to help but mentioned this seems to happen often, as their website is not managed by the same company. Not impressed that they didn’t even offer to reschedule me, just said “I’ll write a note.”
This will be my 3rd year w/ Ginkel Properties and they are a treat to work with. They have been so helpful and personally supportive, Linda is an amazing landlord and has been an absolute treat. Highly recommend living here.
The Knollwood Towers West apartments are incredibly overpriced, the office staff is very rude, and it's very outdated. They recently renovated the lobby, yet leave the elevators broken and don't bother to fix the rest of the building that actually needs it. The apartments themselves are made for very short people, as everything is placed very very low (including the toilet paper holder). They have ridiculous rules for package pickups, and are very rude if you ask to pick up your package. The location isn't great, although they do have two parks nearby which is helpful for children. The neighbors can be very rude as well, and don't take into account that they do in fact have neighbors. I would not recommend Knollwood Towers West unless you want to pay more than what it's worth, and are a midget.
For over 26 years I have lived at Knollwood Towers West, and call it my home. I love it here at Knollwood Towers West! The staff is absolutely wonderful to deal with (office and maintenance). The building is very sturdy, clean and safe. If I ever have any issue, maintenance is working to resolve it immediately. I have to shake my head at the negative review(s) that I have read; they appear to come from people who are not being totally truthful. I know that when I first came to Knollwood Towers West, I was given a list of rules of what was acceptable vs. not acceptable so that everyone could co-exist peacefully and have a comfortable living environment. I appreciate there being rules, so I know what to expect. Unfortunately many people just need to learn that the world does not revolve around them, and when they break a rule there are consequences!
I have lived here for one and a half years and love it! The two managers are very friendly, and it is obvious that they care about the people they serve. Every time I see them, they are hard at work, but they still find time to have real conversations with the tenants. I would also describe the general environment as quiet and family friendly. Almost everyone I have met is kind, humble, and respectful. On any given day, the people who live here can be seen getting together at the park, and enjoying each other's company in a peaceful manner. The rent also includes all utilities and underground parking. For what it costs to live here, I consider myself lucky to have found it!
Dirty old building with smelly broody units. Everything breaks and stays broken for weeks. Rude management, will keep your deposit no matter what. The only redeeming factor is the city park right by it. You will be fined $100 if you set your thermostat above 70F (mine was at 72!). Rent is cheap and is full of immigrants (who dont mind being fleeced by landlords). Very quite though, you're sure to get a warning if you have kids making any noise. You get what you pay for. Better apartments available for almost the same rent just a few miles away.
I've lived at Knollwood Towers West for over a year and have no complaints! The best thing about living there is that the building is concrete and therefore you rarely, if ever, hear your neighbors. It is right next to a park, which is super convenient for families with kids. I also think the price is very reasonable considering all that's included (rent, heat, A/C, water, and covered parking). Highly recommend for anybody that is considering living in Hopkins or St. Louis Park.
I've lived at Knollwood Towers West for quite a few years and have been very happy with it. The facilities are quiet and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, maintenance is prompt and reliable. The owner obviously cares a lot about keeping it in great shape. Very much recommended.
This is a good place to live. The managers very friendly and very helpful. The located is near shopping areas. The building is solid and very clean and quiet, the rent is reasonable and well worth the cost with underground parking and utilities included in the rent, secured building
This apartment building is situated in a nice neighborhood near a park. It is a secured building and is very quiet. The apartments are spacious and include a balcony. The garage and most of the utilities are covered in the monthly rent. The on site building managers are helpful and friendly. The maintenance staff are responsive in a timely manner. It is conveniently located near places of worship and shopping areas.
Location: Good location. A mall, Target, Cub foods and several restaurants are all within walking distance. The building is close to the bicycle path and on the bus route. Noise: Very quiet. The building is concrete and I hear little noise, except for out in the halls from time to time, but that doesn't last long. Maintenance: The maintenance staff has always been polite and prompt in my experience. I haven't had many issues in five years. They replaced my air conditioner with a bran new one this summer. Office staff: I've gotten along well with the office staff. Quality of Amenities: I like that the utilities (electric and water) are included in the rent as well as a parking space in the attached garage. Overall value: I think it is a great value. Over my time here I have seen a number of improvements done to the building, it's older (built in the 70's I think) and showing it's age, but management keeps doing things to fix it up. They've had new washers/dryers put in the laundry room that use cards instead of coins to make it easier for people (instead of making a trip to the bank for rolls of quarters). They've fixed up the balconies (which are a large size), repainted the building and done landscaping to improve the grounds. Over all much effort is being put in to make this a nice place to live.
I have lived here for over 23 years and have everything I need close and convenient. The staff is very nice and I enjoy living here.
I have lived here for just under a year now and i had 0 credit to my name. The biggest problem is making enough they require a strick rent to salary ratio. The building is solid and i have only heard noises from other appartments once or twice and only because they have 3 kids. It is less then a mile from a mall, target cub foods and only a couple miles from down town minneapolis. The staff is always on call in case of emergencies and i have seen great work with their maintenance staff. It is difficult to get into i had just moved out here and it took me about a month to contact and get all the required paper work in the mail. Rent is relativly cheap for a large suburban area and is well worth the cost with a covered garage utilities included.
