Property Ratings at La Collina
Negatives: The climate control breaks frequently. Heating in our apartment was broken (off) the entire winter. We were given a plug in heating unit for the main area. The air conditioning has broken several times, often on very hot days and for many days in a row. Climate control is shared across apartments, so in order to change the temperature when it is working you have to change it to the lowest (or highest) setting and hope that will turn on the heating/cooling. Dishwasher, washing machine and water dispenser have broken once each, but maintenance was very responsive. Also, the fire alarm in the kitchen is too close to the stove/oven, so we can't use the oven or else we risk setting off the fire alarm. Positive aspects include large bedrooms, large windows, nice views (depending on unit), plenty of closet space, lots of common area space and a balcony (depending on unit). Bathrooms are nice. Really nice internal soundproofing between rooms. The staff is very friendly. It is located in an excellent location, right in the middle of little Italy, and there are a ton of different shops on the same block. There is an option for one paid parking spot per unit(for like 170 a month) but you can generally find free parking on the side streets (with permit from city around 10 dollars per half year). Overall for the price I would expect functioning climate control and to be able to use the oven, but it is in a very nice area and the management is nice. I would however recommend a cheaper place with working climate control.
