Lafayette Park is an up-and-coming neighborhood in Downtown Detroit. This revitalized neighborhood is known for its postwar modernist houses and other historical architectural styles, while more developments are being added each year. Rentals in this area include upscale high-rise apartments and condos, but there are affordable and mid-range options available as well. This urban neighborhood has several green spaces for residents to enjoy a breath of fresh air. Lafayette Plaisance Park in the center of the neighborhood has tennis courts and a playground, while the Dequindre Cut on the eastern edge boasts vibrant street art along a greenway perfect for jogging, biking, and skating. There are few restaurants and other businesses in Lafayette Park but living in this neighborhood places you minutes away from the city’s best shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

Property Ratings at Lafayette Towers
Do not move here! The people in the leasing office do not care about residents. My car broken into along with several other resident cars and they do not care. They take zero action. Whenever I have guests their car has been broken into as well. The leasing staff is very rude and careless. Snobby if you will. Unless you want your car window busted or your car stolen do not move here!

15Dec2022 update....nothing has changed. I feel like a moron living here as long as I have. The property was having work done and cut the internet lines to apartments ending in a 7 or 8 in the east building....it's now been over 3 days without any internet and the leasing office does not have a ETA!!! This along with the fact that they've allowed 1 of the 2 treadmills for the entire building to be broken for A YEAR is proof they don't care!!! I stopped in a couple months back and begged them to fix is before the winter because if the one good treadmill is in use, the alternative to waiting is to walk across to other building in the freezing cold. Oh, they also overcharged me rent for Dec 2022...two weeks later and still no reimbursement. Only good thing is the maintenance staff.

Applied & paid the most expensive application fees I’ve ever heard of. It took their staff 2-3 weeks to get back to me. $50 application fee plus $175 refundable application fee. I was denied who knows why cause I applied to 3 other places all approved based on me bringing in 4 times the rent. This was one of the least expensive places I applied to. Well then they tell me it can take 30 days to get my $175 refundable fee back. Well it been 30 days & all their incompetent staff can continue telling me is the check is in the mail. I still haven’t received it. Do not give them your $ you may never see it back. This is bad business 101. I am now looking to higher entities to expose this place.

Where to begin, I’ve had my bike stolen from the rack which is supposedly monitored. I’ve had visitors cars broken into in the visitor lot, which is a hike from the west tower. Much of the staff has been consistently disrespectful to myself as a tenant and my guests.

They are not responsible for anything stolen off of your car in their lot that costs $55 a month to park at (someone stole my catalytic converter). You are better off parking on the street and using that money to pay for a repair if someone steals your stuff. Overall, I like living here but management is not pleasant to work with. Downtown is close and there is a nearby park (tennis/ playground/ hammocking) and the Dequindre Cut. If you like nature and being active, the location is wonderful. Security- Nice but don’t actually guard anything. They ask if you are a resident almost every time you try to walk by and that’s it. Gym- always very clean Package pick up- has always been safe and smooth for me. Room- love my room but it is hard to regulate temperature Elevators- break down occasionally. Has not been a huge inconvenience for me. Cleanliness- vacuuming frequently, outside widow cleaning yearly, and painting kept up in the halls. Building is clean Laundry- machines sometimes stain your clothes if someone used bleach or something before you which is very inconvenient. Safety- I have always felt safe inside the apartment and walking around but there are huge problems with stealing parts off of cars in the lot. The structure is more expensive and there is always a waitlist but that might be more secure. Maintenance- Every time I have submitted a request they have helped me within a day. Very prompt. Bike racks- they need more in the structure because the racks are full. I am a medical student, love the location and my apartment, and I would recommend it. Realize that you are dealing with a corporate building that could care less about you.

This place has the absolute worst and most obnoxious management. They are rude and so unreliable. They continuously were difficult about the terms of my lease and made me so frustrated. They continued to add fees and costs throughout discussion of rent, to add up to twice more than initially discussed. I have never had anyone be so rude and disrespectful to their tenants. They will say one thing to you and do another. The security is horrible, and there were multiple issues with parking break ins. The apartments are not even that great for the price. It is not a clean space and there is always smells in the building. Do not recommend to anyone.

10-16-18 at around 7:00PM. Gate house makes no call to residents when a guest arrives. Guest just show up in building creating a very unsafe environment for both residents and guests. Gate house security extremely rude and unhelpful. They did not seem able to operate gate or communicate. Did not return license and could not seem to operate gate to allow guests to leave property. Very strange experience. If all guests are met with this confusion I can not recommend this rental. Can not imagine anyone living in those unsafe conditions.

PROS: Walking distance to Eastern Market and right next to the Dequindre Cut (great for walks to the Riverfront). Beautiful views. CONS: Management is not kind or helpful. Apartments and hallways often smell like smoke. When it was anything above 30 degrees outside and sunny, my apartment was unbearably hot (even with the blinds closed). At least one elevator is usually broken. Security is usually on their phone or just not at the desk and during my time at the Towers, multiple cars in the guest parking lot were broken into (which is alarming since security sits in that lot). Overall, I would not recommend living here to anyone.

They don't have good security. I've only been living there for a year and I've already had 2 friends who's cars have been broken into in the guest lot. While I understand that crime can happen anywhere there's no reason that break-ins should be so frequent. If they just had a security guard posted at night there's no way anyone would break-into cars so this is totally preventable but management doesn't care.
I love this place it’s so clean neat and was ready for me unfortunately I couldn’t bring my dog and he had to stay with my sister in her apartment but other than that it’s great
Great view, very secure and safe, friendly staff. Although most amenities are included in the rent, you have to pay additional for parking, electrical and Wi-fi (even though they offer internet - the signal is poor)
I love my place and the people I stay with, however, there comes a time for loving a place all your own...I love my space, especially the closet space, tall, wide, and deep just right. There are two cabinets above that fits all of my art supplies and a drawer beneath for personal care products. Now what I love even more about this place is the second closet that helps organize all my colors. Now the bathroom is nice. It has a slender old fashioned sink and nice size tub. My kitchen has all the space and dark carameled cabinets you could want. I just sit down sometimes and ease into a book that's usually cheesy and romantic. I could go on and on about my place but the important note to take copy and paste to memory is to no matter where you go or who you live with. Make your space your place, Make it your home.
This place is just a walk from Greektown! I've been living downtown for 4 years now and this area is definitely a contender for the hottest spot in Detroit. The place itself was built in the 60's and designed by world renowned modern architect Mies van der Rohe. My first two years there were slightly less than satisfactory, with the heating during the winter not working all the time. But the buildings were bought by new developers and in the last few months there have been many great improvements such as pool, elevators, and lobby refurbishments and geo-thermal heating. A couple of the negatives that I have for Lafayette Towers is that my AC unit is hilariously outdated and loud and that after 3 years there they are still increasing my rent when I renew my lease. It's one of the best places in the area, I would recommend it for someone who is taking their first step of moving into the area.
Overlooking the great city of Detroit. Great staff, and security. I feel safer than ever. The updated kitchen, fitness center and laundry room sold me. Great place to live. I would recommend it to anyone looking to live downtown.
Staff is nice until you get in. Then you'll need to HOUND them to fix anything that goes wrong (which won't happen all the time, but does happen occasionally). View is absolutely spectacular, location is fantastic, building and area is well-kept. Pool is phenomenal. Kitchen is very small (and we are in a larger unit). Overall, it's great for about a year, but then you'll be ready to move.
I live on the thirteenth floor in a corner apartment.I enjoy peace and tranquility daily. My visitors enjoy visiting me. Everyone is extremely friendly.
I'm thinking about moving in soon so I visited the area and the apt couple of times and it was not as bas as i thought it would be for Detroit. Great place, worth checking out!
