Property Ratings at Lake Castleton
2 months no ac. The manager of the property is a horrible condescending person. Whole windows are shattered on the property. They pay their friends to write 5 star reviews. This place is not friendly once you sign a lease
It’s so beautiful, love how it gots a lot of appliances also I love how the apartment was so clean when I viewed it also I love how they got events for the residence
It was a nice a pleasant experience to look at the nicely renovated apartments. Affordable and comfortable with good pricing. Stacy was very helpful and informative on our decision.
Professional and friendly staff who were prompt in answering questions and commodating special concerns.
Had a very good tour with Rafael! Would recommend checking them out with all the new renovations.
Although the cost of rent is cheap, you get what you pay for! Their website advertises 2 beautiful pools, in which are not open for residents to use. When asked about it, residents are given differing answers; “They’re under maintenance.” or “We‘re just waiting to hire a life guard.”. In addition to that, my AC has been broken since July 2 and nobody has been out to repair it yet.. it’s July 12. There is zero communication from maintenance/property manager on when to expect repairs. When asked about this they told me “expect delays” and “buy a window unit”. I was also told they only have 1 technician to repair AC units, and they are not outsourcing work. If you are considering living at Lake Castleton, sometimes the cheaper option isn’t the best. Look elsewhere!
I have lived her for two years. I just signed a new lease. Yes, the crime is high. But it is everywhere. If you would have asked me a few months ago or even a few weeks ago I would have told you I loved living here. It is close to where I work, close to shopping and everything you need is close by. However, things have changed. After I signed my new lease with the increase. I received a text from the property advising me to come sign a new lease without the increase. I went into the office and was told that they would honor the text, but the person that needed to write up the new lease was at lunch and asked that I come back tomorrow, I said sure or that they could email it to me. Well, I did not get an email or to sign a new lease with the discount. They said it did not apply to me. I have called I have asked for the manager Justin to call me back and have never received a call back, Very disappointed!!! Marla
I have lived here since March of 2021. They sell you what you want to hear. I am leaving here this July. As nice as they are in the office, maintenance is not even present. My AC has been broke since November of 2021, nothing has been done. Crime is through the roof, daily car break ins, car fires, murders, horrible living conditions. You are just a number to them. I hope they turn this place around, but believe me, do not move here.
I have been here for a year and just transferred to a bigger unit!!!!!! I absolutely love it here!!!! I finally don’t feel like I am being extorted by the apartment complex…..It’s homey and quiet and I have a fabulous view of the lake!!! If your looking for a new home Lake Castleton is the place to call your new home.
Constant crime, people being murdered and robbed and the office couldn’t care less. Maintenance sucks despite a few of them doing their actual best. If you value your life don’t move here.
Poor tenant treatment. I've had mold in my apartment for a month from a leak that I had for 2 months. This is the worst experience I've had especially during ccovid . Don't waste your time
Poor resident service. So many reasons. 1. App doesn’t work properly so you will get charged a late fee even though you pay on time. 2. Bathtub was painted when we moved in. Was never addressed. 3. They never return phone calls so you have to take the time to go in to deal with issues. 4. Residential staff were rarely friendly. 5. Maintenance staff would show up unannounced and just walk in. No knock and no phone calls for a heads up. I’d give them no stars if I could. Pay a little more to a company who actually cares.
This is by far the worst management, worst maintenance (probably not their fault definitely the managements fault, and overall worst community to live in. Every single person I’ve spoken to cannot wait to get out of the apartments. I recently had a fire in my apartment and they never deemed it uninhabitable when they left co2/smoke smell in there for 4 days, moldy/damp carpet that I eventually had to rip out MYSELF after 10 days, and for 2ish days I had to crawl in and out of my window because I couldn’t access my front door. No communication whatsoever, and I can never get through to anyone. They’ll say they’ll call you back and they don’t. Please do yourself a favor and do not rent here.

They don’t pick the phone nor take the time to call you back and try to discuss things with you. I called they answered my questions once. I been calling for the past week to schedule a tour and put in my deposit, no one answered or called back. Even tried to email them. Very unprofessional.

Bad maintenance my ac broke down and have been calling for someone to come look at it. it’s been 4 days counting today and no one has shown up around here I have a new born at home and with this heat I can’t live like this anymore. Mind you it has broken down 5 times before once almost causing a fire. There was smoke everywhere in my apartment it took them 2 days to come and look at it. The first guy came and looked at it couldn’t fix it, left for a smoke break that took an hour came back and said he was going to come tomorrow because he didn’t know how to fix it.... WHAT??

This place was good for the first month then our A/C started to leak. We reached out and told us they would get back to us, never did, we reached out again and until we told them we would move out if it was not fixed they came. We thought they fixed it and started to leak again after a couple of weeks. We reached out again they came and we thought it was fixed and once again, leaking. Told us they were going to install a window unit and turn off our A/C. It was mid-summer. Now we are moving out.

If I could give this apartment complex negative 5 stars I would. They are overpriced and horribly managed. I don't even live here, but my boyfriend does, and the issues he has had with them for the last 2 years have been ugly. They lost his security deposit and threated eviction if it was not repaid. Does that even make sense? Clearly he would not have be able to move in if he didn't have the security deposit in the first place, but some how it became his fault. They have a horrible bug infestation, but don't call them looking for help, because they will tell you it's not their fault. AND if you do call in needing maientenance, there's a 50/50 chance they will even put the work order in. He has gone without hot water twice, each time was for a total of 2 days and the office treated it as if it was nothing. To make matters worse, the water heater is in the bedroom closet behind the wall, so each time he has had to have someone come out to look at it he has had to completely remove everything from his closet, which is a huge inconveience. The first time his water heater went out he was told that it caught on fire. Luckily it put itself out, however if it hadn't it could have been a very dangerous situation as the fire started behind the wall in the closet. The faucests drip constantly. The toilet has overflown flooding the entire bathroom, and do you think Lake Castlton has done anthing to help fix and or compensate for the troubles? Abosultely not. Take it from me, if you have a choice, DO NOT choose Lake Castleton, there are cheaper apartments to live in if you want bugs as roommates.

While the apartments look great and the staff "seem" to be helpful if you have a maintenance issue they are slow to respond...if they do at all. I have had an air conditioning issue since move in. I was told it would be addressed quickly. Their own maintenance staff has determined that the air conditioning unit needs replaced in writing. That was 3 weeks ago and I've been told that they know nothing about a new unit and will fix it if possible, 24 hours after I was left the formal Sterling Management repair notice. I cannot get a call back from the complex maintenance manager and no one in the office knows anything or is saying. It's going on a month and the height of summer is coming and Lake Castleton CAN'T be bothered to address the issue or even provide an update. Stay away if you want responsive support and customer service!
Property Manager at Lake Castleton, Responded To This Review
Dale, no one deserves to go without air conditioning, and we want to make it up to you. Please give our Regional Director, Nikki, a call at (866) 259-8877.
I have been here since the summer and I am not impressed with anything but the clubhouse because of the 24hr gym and the new fresh look. They have no grace period for when rent is due, it is the 1st and no later than the 1st. My apartment does not have any new appliances like the pictures suggest. The lock on my mailbox recently broke off in my hand because it was so old. Its in the rent that I pay for pest control but I have killed GIANT brown wolf spiders and ants in my bathroom (not the kitchen where the food is) but the bathroom. When I first moved I realized I had to be paying for the location but the sound of sirens from the hospital next to the complex drives me crazy. There is easy access to the highway and it is close to the mall and other stores but for the condition of my apartment I am not impressed. I paid less when I stayed further out and everything was newer and bigger so again, not impressed.

Good luck ever getting a response from them for maintanence requests, emails, or when voicing a complaint in person. They told me to purchase my own internet prior to move in to which they stated that it was internet ready. I tried everything to get it started on my own and with help of a representative. I submitted a maintanence request to ensure that cables were indeed internet ready. No response, nobody showed up to check connection for days, and because I am a graduate student and need internet for my assignments etc., I scheduled to have a technician come out and figure out what was going on. Before then I had also gone in myself to get an answer or to rush them on the situation so I wouldn’t be charged and he told me the apartment was internet accessible, the fact that they painted over the outlets for the coax cable had nothing to do with bad connection, and a bunch of other false information. My apartment was indeed not internet accessible, there was one cable that was completely cut from one outlet and it in fact had not had internet in years! When bringing it to the attention and arguing with them and them trying to give me a run-around, they said they would reimburse me for the 70$ I had to pay to have someone from the internet service to figure out what was going on so long as I brought them proof and a statement when posted on my account. When I went to bring it to their attention again with proper documentation the manager tried to tell me how it wasn’t their fault at all and I would be responsible of the payment. They had no documentation of this incident, AND he stated he would reach out to their “representative”, but ultimately it’s my fault and you always need a technician to come to set-up WiFi. It has been 5 days and I still haven’t heard nothing from them. Worst apartment complex staff I have ever had to deal with, and thinks only one specific example of why.

Nicole, we are terribly sorry about the miscommunication on our end. We would love to make things right with you. Please give us a call so we can discuss your situation in more detail.
I have lived in this complex for 10 years and the last three years they have had nothing but problems opening the pools on time and keeping them open. In 2016 they opened almost 3 weeks later than Memorial day, last year they closed on 7/31 due to not hiring enough life guards, and this year they claim they are renovating the club houses and waiting on the bathrooms to be done. I've stopped in a few times and it appears little to no work is being done on them. Don't rent here if you love going to the pool in the summer.
Property Manager at Lake Castleton, Responded To This Review
Hello there. Thank you for the honest review. Your feedback is very important to us and helps us tailor our services to meet your needs. While we know we have been slow to open our pools, our residents' safety is our main priority. Our team strives to provide "plus one" service and chooses to open amenities once they are 100 % ready for resident use. We apologize for the inconvenience, but Lake Castleton has chosen to take precautionary measures during renovations and construction to promote the safety of our residents. In the meantime, please feel free to contact our staff about the status of our amenities. We will notify the community once our pools and clubhouse are completely renovated. Thank you for your patience!
I have lived here for four years and I never get tired of sitting on my patio and enjoying the lake. It’s so relaxing. I have a cat that likes to sit outside with me and watch the ducks. The landscaping is beautiful in the spring and summer. The staff is friendly and my neighbors are pretty nice.
Property Manager at Lake Castleton, Responded To This Review
Hello there. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are so glad you have enjoyed your stay with us. We are glad you enjoy the scenery as our maintenance team takes pride in their work maintaining the grounds. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you for choosing Lake Castleton.
I lived here for a year and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. The police were constantly being called on either my neighbors or other residents. The crime around the area isn't the greatest either. My neighbors apartment was infested with bed bugs and eventually gave them to me as well. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
I have asked to have ny ac fixed for 1 month now. The contractors were supposed to come to my apartment today and didnt. I even went to the office twice today and they assured me it would be fixed. I understand 1-2 weeks, but 4? They expect so highly from their tenants but cant do the same in return. I highly suggest you look elsewhere.
Drafty windows with forced air heat will give you a high electric bill and small water heaters were an issue. Cockroaches are bad if you move into an apt. that had filthy tenants before you.
Apartment is okay for what I'm paying for. not much space. No 2 brs when I applied, so I got the biggest 1br they had and i'm paying more than it costs for a 2 br! Took the staff over 13 days to replace a light bulb that is on the grounds in my back corridor, which lights up my porch balcony at night. My safety wasn't their concern. Also, had a water leak, from the air conditioner, which soaked thru the ceiling and dripped onto my carpet. I had called the 24 hr emergency staff and texted them about the problem. It took them over 27 hours to come to my apartment and fix it, which took them 15 min!! They didn't even replace the damaged ceiling tile or dry my wet floor. Last week, I had one of my tires slashed after I got home from work, between the hours of 9:30am-noon. They replied, "Parking is at your own risk!" Not enough security!!!
the maintenance here is awesome and comes to fix my issues really fast. I hate it when something is not working; but I love knowing that it will be fixed quickly.
I'm in Lake Castleton and I like it relatively well. It's a quiet area and they take pretty good care of their property. I've not had many problems since I've been here and they seem to repair things on time. It's an older building but provides plenty space for the price.
I've resided in Lake Castleton Apartments going on three years now. It's a beautiful and grand complex located in a prime location; with a variety of amenities. Established in a prime location you can get to just about anywhere you need to conveniently. I'm more than honored to call it home.
I've been a resident for 3 years! In addition to the area being nice, the staff and my neighbors have been the best! Maintenance and Business Office Staff are prompt and follow really good follow-up and follow-through. The walls are sound (believe me, I have two boys) and I really like my floor plan. My neighbors, both in my unit and complex, are friendly and courteous. It is a safe area for those with children. You're within walking distance or 5-8 minute driving distance of everything vital to living; grocery store, Walgreens, variety of fast foods, gas station, hospital, excellence school system, Dollar Store, near the Castleton Mall and AE Theatre, and Starbucks! This is a location well worth considering to make home. I am always telling someone about how pleased I am to be a resident of the Lake Castleton living area.
Lake Castleton apartments and townhouses are excellently located. I-465 is less than 5 minutes away and access to downtown Indianapolis, Broadripple, Carmel, and Fishers are just one turn down the road. Essentially you could be on your way to see everything around here in minutes. The apartments themselves are pretty good. They're a bit old as they were constructed in 1982, but they've been well maintained and I've never had any problems with pests. Units range from 1 Bdr apartments to townhouses and provide a good amount of space for the cost. The property management is very good. The staff is almost always on call during business hours, and if your call is missed they return it very shortly after leaving a message. Problems are handled quickly and professionally. The maintenance team is no different. Courteous and quick (even non-emergency maintenance!) responses to maintenance tickets. The policies here are straightforward and I've never had a problem receiving notices for inspections or any other reason to enter my unit. The property itself has a small problem with littering in the roadways. In heavier rainstorms the streets have problems with some flooding. Depending on what part of the property you're on you can get some noise at nights from the highway. I've never had a problem with any other tenants, noise or otherwise. All in all not a bad place to live to have the very convienent location. The price and good property management make life here easier than some places I've been in. However, if you're looking for something more modern or you don't really care about driving a bit then I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
This apartment is just ok, nothing great, nothing terrible. The rent is decent for the amount of space, could be better. The worst part is the staff. The don't listen to tenants concerns and don't follow directions.
