Property Ratings at Lake Cove Village
It’s safe, clean, quiet and my neighbors are friendly. This September will be my 4th year and all I can say is the office people are amazing and and make sure they follow up the work if was done correctly. Their maintenance guys are amazing and professional specially Tim.. they will show up same day and finish their job. It’s reasonable rent compared to other apartments closer by. It’s very convenient to lots of places and highways. I call this place home. Yasmin ????
I have lived here for a few years now. I would not recommend. Entire building smells of weed and is dirty. The people who work in the office are very rude and will talk down to you any time you interact with them. The maintenance guys don't know what they are doing the work is never a permanent fix. They are terrible about plowing in the winter, even during the heaviest of snow storms it takes a minimum of 2-4 days for the parking lot to be plowed.
This place is pretty trash. The only thing positive about this place is it's one of the more 'affordable' places to rent. Otherwise it sucks. They care more about squirrels and bird feeders than the inside of the units. My AC doesn't work at all in the summer and maintenance said that the 80 degree air it blows out (i temped it myself) means that it's working. The fridge has leaked since we've moved in and despite multiple requests to get it fixed and multiple times they say they fixed it, it still leaks. Sooo if you make a maintenance request they'll come pretty quick but they'll poke around for 20 minutes and not actually fix anything. They raise the rent every year while cutting out the 'amenities'. Some of the neighbors are so loud you can hear them 4 units away. The whole complex smells like weed 24/7 which might be a plus for some people tho lol. I'll also bet my life that they'll try and charge us for cleaning when the place was dirty when we moved in. Annd finally most of the staff are incredibly rude and go on power trips to be as unhelpful and unpleasant as possible.
Spacious apartments with lots of light. Dated finishes and plenty of noise from the neighbors, which is not unusual for a 40+ year old apartment complex. Maintenance requests are handled quickly and efficiently, office staff communicate well and are very organized. I never had reason to feel unsafe or regret living here (for almost 3 years!) If you have realistic expectations of what you will be getting for the price point, you should be very happy!
This is a very long review but please take the time to read this, it will be worth it. I have lived at Lake Cove for almost a year now and as soon as my lease is up, I am out of here!!! It looks nice on the photos and whatnot but in reality, it is a very run down and not safe place. I will give you a few examples of why it is run down in my opinion in my apartment. During the summer, my air conditioning went out and it took maintenance about a week to come fix it. The lock on my door to my apt was basically falling off and I had to take a screwdriver to tighten it. Now during the winter, literal snow flies in under my patio door and freezes along the inside of the door. I called maintenance and had them come fix it. They did something to it, but it did not fix the fact that there is still cold air blowing into my living room. Also, my patio door doesn't lock. Thankfully I am not on the first floor so I manage. Now my reasonings for stating it is not safe... I had a friend over one night during the week and he left around 11pm and called me from the parking lot saying that someone smashed one of his windows and stole some things from his car. We called the police to see if they could help. Come to find out, there are no cameras ANYWHERE! Not in the parking lots or in the apt buildings, no where. Another incident happened a few months after that. My cousin and his girlfriend lived on the first floor of one of the buildings. My cousin was out of town so his girlfriend and their cat were in the apt alone. It was around midnight and she decided the crack her bedroom window open a bit to let some fresh air in while she got ready for bed in the bathroom. She had heard something in the bedroom and thought the cat was messing around. Come to find out, the door knob started to turn and she had thought to herself, "cats cannot open doors..." so she just started screaming and after a while grabbed something to defend herself from her bedroom. Some man had climbed in through her bedroom window, took my cousin's handgun out of their nightstand and most likely tried to do something to his girlfriend. They moved out the next day thankfully. One day I was leaving my building and saw 3 cop cars parked outside the building next to mine. I am not sure what was going on at 11 in the morning but it still concerns me. So if you are looking for a safe place for you or your kid to live or somewhere to raise your kids, etc do NOT live here.
I've lived there 4 years. The only thing okay about this place is the location right near Highway 52. Entire buildings just went through a roach infestation, no warning/advice from staff. Staff is rude and doesn’t care about tenants!! Every request is an inconvenience. I asked that roach droppings be cleaned from my floor's common laundry room since walls still showed damage after 4 months, the response was I needed to put in a work order for maintenance to paint the laundry room walls. Car got broken into once. Place is old and needs updating but rent is outrageous/not worth the amenities. Finding parking nearby your apartment is almost impossible. Find somewhere else to live if possible!!
I have been living here for a year and the space is great! It can get noisy sometimes but what multi complex apartment doesn’t? The staff is amazing, kind, and thoughtful. Anytime I go to the office they know me and take time to say hello. Maintenance always has been out within a day or two to fix any issues. Parking is a pain as there are not many spots and I wish there were more garage stalls or at least another level to the parking ramp. Otherwise it’s great!
Only thing that makes these apartments okay is the price. Other than that, staff is rude and doesn’t care about tenants. We had our place broke into and a car part stolen while in the parking lot. Office people did NOT care at all. Noisy neighbors. Place is old & needs updating. Finding parking is almost impossible. If you can afford somewhere else, do so.
Living here as been the worst year. Bugs. Hallow walls. Slamming doors. No parking, at all. Washer and dryer are always busted. Live here if u cant afford anywhere else. The buildings are old. I'd reccomend changing a budget around or working more to afford something better if possible..
The staff in the office is rude every single time you walk In there and they lied about the price of the garage so after one month of having it they raised the price. They now have even raised the price of the laundry machines. They also never fix anything my husband has had to fix the problems in the apartment himself.
If you are looking for a simple place to live in a good location, Lake Cove Village is perfect. I've never had any problem with neighbors. Apartments aren't spectacular but they have what you need! If you need repairs maintenance is there in a timely matter and have been friendly with the experiences I've had with them. And the main office is easy to deal with. They give you the information you need and have never tried to scam me or my boyfriend or our roommates out of any money. And incase you need a couple more months to figure out what you plan on doing once your lease is up they let you live there without signing a lease and its only a little bit more a month to do that if you need a little more time! I would definitely recommend these apartments to someone who is looking for simple cheap living.
I have been living in Minnesota my whole life, and had multiple apartments. The place where I am currently at now is terrible. I moved in here September of last year and can't get nothing fixed. I live on the third floor and I have squirrels in the roof scratching all night. I have bats or something in my air conditioner. Every time I call the office to make a work order the office worker gives me an attitude. I am a struggling mother to 2 girls and sometimes I like to sit on my balcony, but I can't because the people under me smoke cigarettes and weed on there balcony all night, also my daughters window is on that side and this problem prevents me from opening her window at night when she sleeps. I complained multiple times but to no avail it keeps happening. I can't move because being a single mother struggling I can't move because of pricing. I hope something happens soon. I’ve lived at Lake Cove Village for over 2 years now and throughout those two years I will tell you what I have found to be the positives and the negatives of living here in a much unbiased list format! At the end I will give you my thoughts about my time spent here. Positives - Very affordable rent! o Hundreds of dollars cheaper than surrounding complexes o In over two years they have issues just 1 increase in rent for less than $50 - Great location! o I work north of Saint Paul with roommates that work in just about every part of the twin cities and the surrounding suburbs and the drives aren’t bad at all o Close to 52 and 494 o Right next to Robert Street and all the restaurants that Robert has to offer - My neighbors! o Even though this might not be the case for everybody my neighbors have all been long term, nice (holds the doors for everybody), quiet and courteous (if having people over we have always just let our neighbors know and they would come to us if we ever got too loud). - Outdoors! o Lake cover has grills for public use, a volleyball court, picnic tables and a viewing area of the lake! - Helpful employees! o Everyone I have every talked to has been very helpful with anything that I needed whether it be replacing a fridge or temporary extending my lease! o Office hours work for almost every work schedule - Fitness Room and Pool o Nothing crazy but I’ve used both and both do the trick Negatives - Parking o They will clean the parking lot one side at a time which will make finding a spot difficult for that night. - Apartments in need of updates o This is a catch 22, the low cost of rent is most likely due to this but if stainless steel kitchen appliances is a must have you might not get it here. - Layouts o The living room can be kind of hard to work with. However this allows them not to have the traditional hallway apartments which I actually like - Overhead lighting o There is none - Laundry o You don’t share the laundry room with a lot of people which is nice but there is only 1 washer and 1 dryer per floor (about 6 apts) o There are a lot of places nearby you can go and wash your clothes too. All that being said, if you are looking for a decent place that offers very affordable rent this is a must see!! There is a reason why I have lived here for so long and plan to stay!
