Property Ratings at Lake+House Apartments
We have been here since July 22. The apartment itself is wonderful but the management is awful. Elevator in our building has been broken for 2 months and all they keep saying is waiting for parts. The certificate in the elevator currently says it passed inspection in 2019, that is a long time - I question… is management really concerned about its resident’s safety. The indoor pool was vandalized between the holidays Christmas and New Years. We noticed all the patio furniture including glass was thrown into the pool. My husband and I pulled out most of the furniture from the water but could not clean out the 2 foot pile of toilet paper that was stuck in the drain in the deep water. We called emergency security and he called back 3 hours later to state he will take a look at it on Tuesday, this happened on a Friday. Back in January we asked why aren’t there security servailance cameras in the pool area? The manager said not her decision, well fast forward to March and the pool has been vandalized numerous times. No security cameras. The last time it was vandalized was early April and the MENS locker room was damaged so the pool is STILL CLOSED and it is May 10. I have asked management numerous times and the same response waiting for materials and we have installed cameras. Here is a funny coincidence the cameras have been removed from our indoor garage. I’m assuming they are using them at the pool- really… spend some money and maintain these amazing amenities that you advertise. The indoor pool looks amazing and we walk by the doors every day to the same under construction. Nothing is happening, nobody in management cares all they are concerned with is filling up the apartments and not maintaining these beautiful amenities. They are Baiting people in to rent the units but don’t care to maintain the amenities. I would not recommend these apartments only because of the “pass the buck” “not my responsibility “ attitude of the unpleasant manager.
When I first moved in, I would've rated this apartment 4 stars. A little pricey, but still a great deal for the amenities provided. As I've stayed here though, it became clear that the owners do very little to maintain the property. When I originally toured the apartment, I was told that the hot tub doesn't work, but they're actively working on fixing it. After a year here, they still haven't fixed it, and I also came to find that the sauna boxes in the pool don't work, and the pool and gym showers don't have any hot water. Thanks to the poor management, any concerns or criticism is met with unpleasantness as the manager seems to take things personally and is quick to become defensive and hostile. The Apartment: The apartment itself I have the best things to say about. I've read other's concerns about thin walls, and they're definitely accurate. I've come to hold a lot of spite for our neighbors crashing things in their apartment and playing loud music. Inside the apartment is very nice though. Very modern appliances and a small, but very nice kitchen. We had some issues with the closets and shelves, but we were able to get that fixed through maintenance. The balcony is very small, but it's nice to own a little outdoor space. The Lake: Walking around the lake really breaks my heart. It is in need of a lot of maintenance. The water has overrun the gravel that surrounds it and the lake is now eroding the soil around it. One of the fountains is broken which caused half of the lake to fill with algae and some sort of seaweed that stank in the sun. I noticed it was removed, but without the fountain it's only going to happen again. There are paths around the lake into some of the forestland, but these aren't maintained either. You can see the top of stones that were once a gravel path, but now is just mud. The path is littered with fallen trees, and many of the trees are dying from unchecked Japanese beetles and parasitic vines. Whenever it rains a majority of the path floods and is unwalkable. There is one freshly asphalted path around the lake, but with the rate the lake is eroding just from my one year here, it will be gone soon Out of characters so the rest is bullets - The manager send notices in all caps about people breaking rules - The apartment uses Amazon Hub for all 6 buildings which leads to a mountain of packages in the gym - After receiving criticism about the hub, management told tenants to just order their mail to somewhere else
I lived here for 3 years and had a horrible experience here. The people living above me were into illegal drugs and would throw their lit cigarettes down at me. The staff didn’t care about this and neither did the police. I got locked out of the clubhouse so I could not reload my laundry card which meant I had to do my laundry elsewhere. Also, people would leave their clothes in the community laundry machines without any regard for other people. The on-site staff might be nice but they will lie to your face. I was told several times that my wall would be fixed but it took over 4 weeks for them to do a 10 to 15 minute job and only after my wall caved out. There were a couple of times I could not get my car out of the garage because of their poor snow removal which resulted in me not being able to go in for my regular shifts at the Red Cross. The garage ended up with only one working heater, only to be told by the property manager that there was money in the budget to fix the problem but nothing happened. None of the staff lives here and the property manager even moved out of this place. I guess this place is not good enough for her and/or her family even though she and her staff will tell you how wonderful this place is. The guy across the hall told me that he witnessed another tenant urinate off a second or third floor balcony and even had a lit cigarette land on his head. Last week, this business owner responded to a review on another site saying they can’t do anything now because I don’t live there anymore even though they had 3 years worth of chances and decided not to do anything when I did live there.
Would not recommend this apartments. *One star to management and stuff (as I see they are significantly improved) *Second start to amenities. 2 outdoor swimming pools and 1 indoor with gym saunas and whirlpools are definitely cool. The only apartments who actually did hard inquiry for my credit report. Need to wait almost a month until they remove someone else stuff from storage that I suppose to occupy. Try to charge 600$ after lease for replacing stove top that was already spoiled by someone else(I mentioned it in moving preinspection so they can't), as I find out from the guy who was living in the same apartments before me - it was the same for him, so be careful and mention every single scratch and dent that you find. Air condition require constant recharging in 3 month they recharge it twice. Charge for water is a bit high(you will probably pay for someone else water)
The manager refused the referral bonus even after saying yes at the time of signing the lease. No terms and conditions were mentioned at the time of signing the lease. Later, they refused to give referral bonus because of the hidden terms and conditions.
Disgusting apartments - they have a real cockroach problem, and the worst part is that the management is apathetic towards getting anything done. We just moved into a 2 bd 2 ba apartment a couple of weeks ago, and within the first day saw multiple cockroaches in the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms - even the (gross) dishwasher! Multiple calls and office visits to get the management to do something were met with ONE visit from the "exterminators" - No improvement whatsoever. And when we complained further about it, they mentioned that the exterminators are completely booked up and can only come next week. Gee, no surprise there - because you guys can’t maintain the place for nuts. Story is basically the same for their touted amenities (indoor pool - the water is so dirty you can't see more than a few feet ahead of you). The upkeep of this place has taken a serious downturn. I was a happy resident from 2015 - 2017 which is why I came back. However, the experience has been complete rubbish.
NOT RECOMMENDED !! There are several issues while we stay there.... 1. From the day one, we had cockroaches in the apartment. After several reporting too nothing happened. later we find there are several apartments in the building where the same issues are there. 2. Security is another issue. There used to have cameras in each building for in recent time they removed all, don't know the reason! The maintenance code become public .... so any person can enter the building anytime 3. MOST IMPORTANT - while you move out ...they are the MONEY SUCKER. I had to break the lease(due to job change) and for I had to pay a huge amount. Which is fine because it is as per policy. But my move out was on Sunday and due to huge amount, I didn't get any money order from any where on that day and I had to wait for Monday morning to get the cashiers check. Though I handed over the keys on Sunday but I gave the cashiers check 1 day later(I paid more than 6000 bucks as penalty), and hence they charge me for that one night too....even though I didn't stay on that day! Worst experience ever with any apartment complex. BE AWARE of this apartment
I had 2-bed room apartment at Lake House ( previously named as Woodland Creek ) apartment for about a year. It's a nice apartment with decent amenities at a reasonable rate in that neighborhood. We had a good experience living there, and we liked the part that they have basement garage which is very helpful during winters. If you plan to RENT, keep in mind, you will have to pay very high move-out fees. In our case, they made lots of false claims and charged us for replacing carpet which was equivalent to 1 month's rent. Even my neighbor next to our apartment had a similar issue. So if they give you discount or free one month's rent at the time of leasing, you will eventually pay it back to them when you move out in form of move-out charges.
One of the worst management I have ever seen in my life. Just stay away from these ppl...they will squeeze every penny from your pocket
Spacious apartments. Clean outside premises. Rent is very expensive and increases each year without fail. Poor wall insulation, you can hear neighbors flush. Landlord spending money to build new rental office but will not upgrade rusted and old kids play area. Laundry breaks down several times a month.
Woodland Creek Apartments is a nice complex on the edge of Wheeling, which makes it closer to multiple suburbs and well connected. The amenities are nice, apartments are in good shape, the kitchen has all stainless steel appliances, however the rent is on the higher side. Have been here for around 6 months and don't have much complaints... They have lease specials, like the one going on now when you sign a 12 month lease, you get one month free and an apple watch. Too bad they didn't have any special when I moved in. They also have underground garage which is kind of rare in chicago suburbs but is an absolute must for winters. Other facilities, 1. New leasing office being built 2. One indoor pool, 2 outdoor pools 3. Lake in the complex itself 4. 4 tennis courts Cons, 1. Laundry and Drier are not in unit and are to be shared on each floor 2. The corridors etc are a bit dated 3. As I mentioned earlier, rent is a bit on the higher side, if you consider utilities etc.
LOVE the apartment itself but the staff there are not the best. Extremely slow in responding. I wouldn't even hear back from them unless I follow up with multiple emails and calls (my questions were not even complicated.) And If I call to follow up, I was alwasy rushed with "what do you need, what is your question" kind of stressed voice - makes me feel like I shouldn't have even called. Never really felt welcome either. I'm happy with the apartment but not very excited about the future services I will get from the staff here.
Community is very good, well maintained. Amazing part is lake and woods. never felt bored in this community. GYM,Swimming pool, Sauna, everything is good. when compared to neighbor hood, it's bit costly but worth of it.
This apartment complex is in a perfect location, close to both major roads/ highways and public transportation. The complex's family - oriented atmosphere, gym, tennis courts, pools, free storage and prompt maintenance crew keep me signing to re-lease this place. Another great advantage is the free parking along with options for paid covered parking, great for those with friends/family constantly visiting. A new management team is transitioning to mange this complex, but so far, they seem to be pretty efficient and friendly.
I HAVE A WONDERFUL 1200sq.ft. APARTMENT, TWO BATH W/ TERRACE OVER LOOKING A BEAUTIFUL LAKE.
Woodland Creek in a fairly decent placepartics a number of good amenities; attentive staff and maintenance crew, and the apartment themselves look nice. Additionally, the complex is quiet and well kept. The downside to Woodland Creek is the rent. It is pretty high to start with but you should also expect an annual increase- this will not be shared with you when you sign your original lease. The rent is supposedly based on current market values, which in the world of Woodland Creek, never decreases. Tenants are responsible to secure their own electric and cable providers however; gas, water and sewer are rolled into one bill and is based on the the number of people that will reside in the home. Summary: if you can afford it, this is a nice place to live! Taking off two stars for rental price and annual rent increases.
Lived here twice now. Definitely one of the better options in the area if you are considering the price vs. sq feet vs. location. The apartments have all been redone on the inside, particularly in the kitchen which is very appreciated. The only downside is that the walls are a little thin, not terribly so, but if you're neighbors have huge sound system like mine does it can be a little obnoxious. On the outside, Its nice that there are 3 pools, 3 tennis courts, a large lake to walk/run around, and a basketball court. Overall, it's not a bad combination of what you get for the price you pay. It's in a nice location between a couple neighborhoods and a church, so it feels safe to walk around. The location is conveniently located roughly a mile from Randhurst Mall and about 2 miles from the brand new Mariano's and LA Fitness.
Apartments are fairly large and well maintain. New management is taking interest and fixing things up. New roofs. New business center / rental office is being build. Pools have been clean and lake adds a nice touch. Quite in the area I live in and neighbors are not too bad. Great view.
