Streeterville is an urban neighborhood just north of downtown Chicago with tourist attractions, incredible lake views, and a picturesque city scape. Streeterville houses Northwestern University and is known for its welcoming community. The neighborhood’s main attraction is the Navy Pier, a former Navy training center, that’s been transformed into a tourism haven. Carnival rides, gift shops, eateries, lakefront views, beer garden, and evening fireworks in the summer months make for an incredible one-stop-shop for fun. There’s a wide variety of dining options in town, from four-star French cuisine to casual pub fare.
Downtown’s Museum of Contemporary Art is a big hit with locals and tourists, as is 360 Chicago that offers views from the 94th floor of the John Hancock Building complete with a tilting glass overlooking the city. The Ohio Street Beach is a popular public sandy spot on the lake with a beachside eatery, Caffe Olivia.

Property Ratings at Lake Shore Plaza
I have lived at Lake Shore Plaza for 2 years and have loved it. Great care is taken to make sure that all common areas are clean, and maintenance is super responsive. The front desk staff is amazing as well, I feel very safe and cared for! I have outgrown my current unit, but instead of moving out of LSP I am moving into a larger unit within the building since I have had such a great experience. It is clear that management cares about investing in our building, since I have been here they have updated the laundry room, updated the package receiving process to use Amazon boxes, and have a ton of common area updates coming next month. Looking forward to more years to come!

Hallways full of trash, elevators are so slow, the package room is a full on disaster with hours from 8:30-6:30, so if you have any commute for work - good luck getting your mail until the weekend when the package room is open 8:30-3:30 and closed on Sunday. Horrible management even though they’ll tell you they’re in a transitional period. Hallways always smell like weed which isn’t a big deal but they send emails constantly threatening to terminate your lease due to smoking on your floor, while not doing anything about it. Hot tub hasn’t been open for over a year - “amenities” are honestly so underwhelming. If I hadn’t moved here from out of state sight unseen, I would have NEVER moved into this building.
Wish I could put 0 stars. Would never recommend living here for many reasons. One example is their staff are not equipped for emergency situations, such as a water leakage. If you put in a service request, you’ll be lucky if someone contacts you/ tries to help within 24 hours. Furthermore, it didn’t matter if we had elected “do not enter” if we weren’t home because janitorial staff entered regardless. Lastly, their staff is very rude. Don’t believe me? Try calling to speak with the front desk or management. LOOK ELSEWHERE!
Simona, one of the leasing managers, has made my experience here terrible. She is not only incompetent and caused us headache with anything lease-related, but also would lie straight in your face to keep her job. 1) She wrongfully sent a direct email to me and my roommate with a lease cancellation contract including our names and apartment number, as well as the move out date and a $4,300 lease cancellation fee. When I confronted her because we never communicated anything about cancelling our lease, she claimed she already apologized even though she never sent the email and blamed it on us for reading her emails "too personally." 2) As our annual contract is up, she sent us an email saying our renewal rent would only have a 3% increase. However, when I was almost done signing the new contract she sent over, she said my new renewal rate went up to 14% (few thousand dollars difference), and that the 3% was just a generic mass email sent to all everyone to remind them of lease renewal. What a massive bait and switch! I'd be more understanding if she's acts even a tidbit accountable toward her mistakes/false communications which has caused us tons of stress and thousands of dollars on rent. However, what frustrates me the most is that not only is she unapologetic, but also blames us for every mistake she ever makes, which is utterly immature and unprofessional. I might as well say: Simona, this is just a generic review, not to be taken too personally!
I have had the pleasure of living at Lake Shore Plaza for more than ten years. I have a beautiful apartment that I can truly call home. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Repairs are handled immediately. The building is clean and quiet. Everybody delivers to my door and this IS where the good food is! Easy transportation around the city and super close to fantastic shopping. And there is my view.....the lake, The Planetarium and The Sears Tower from my window. I have been very happy here for ten years and plan on being here from now on!

We are so honored to have had you as our fantastic resident for more than ten years! It’s true, Lake Shore Plaza’s ideal neighborhood has everything you can ever ask for. To add, we are so grateful that you’ve acknowledged or quality service as we strive to offer unsurpassable amenities to our residents. We’re looking forward to continuing to exceed your expectations!
The elevators never work 30 floors and only 1 in 4 work! Pool deck is nice but the building could use better management they never respond. We love being close to river north, LSD and Navy pier. Watch fireworks from the pool deck. Apartment is nice nothing fancy convertibles with very large walk in closet.
Great place to live! The only downside is the elevators are slow to work or broke down
First, the location and price for this apartment are AMAZING. I work at a nearby hospital, so being able to walk to work in Chicago is a plus. Great access to the beach/Navy Pier and other Chicago attractions. View is awesome on almost any side of the building. Leasing staff was great to deal with when I first signed as well. Amenities are also up to Chicago standard (It is nice to not have to pay for a gym membership). The only problems with these apartments has to do with management. I hear many tenants complain although I have only run into one problem with them. The elevators here have become a HUGE problem. I think I spend more time waiting for an elevator than I do brushing my teeth. And I have a GREAT smile... We are all hoping the next managing company that takes over will get these fixed.
I have just wrapped up my first month living at Lake Shore Plaza and have found the experience to be remarkably... neutral. Here's your pros: 1) Location, location, location. Lake Shore Plaza is well located in the south part of Streeterville, and is a comfortable walk from Michigan Ave., the loop, and about 2 minutes from Ohio St. Beach and Lake Michigan. 2) Easy leasing experience. My leasing agent, Cody, was very helpful and a definite 5/5. Took me less than 30 minutes to apply online and was approved quickly. Nice if you need a fast move like I did. 3) The views are great, particularly if you get a north, east, or south facing view and live on the eastern side of the building. Now the cons: 1) The elevators. What is an elevator to a great living experience? Everything. LSP's elevators are 30+ years old and completely dysfunctional. The rattle, jump, shake, and take forever to get to you. I have actually written much of this review waiting for an elevator. Living on the 40th floor the elevators are the bain of my existence at LSP. 2) Things start crumbling. When I toured my convertible, all seemed well--and largely still is--but some maintainence issues surfaced quickly after moving in. Closet rods sheared off, my dishwasher consistently suds over and fills with water, and the space had been less than well cleaned upon my move in. Maintainence is generally quick to fix these issues as they arise, but should I have to fill out a work order every week? 3) Things operate for weird hours. Management office generally closes at 5, except Tuesday and Thursday when it stays open until 7, but if you work a sporadically scheduled job like me it can be difficult to make it in with much ease. The dry cleaner in the building takes delivery of your packages and you have to get back by the time they close to get your things which can also be irritating if you're expecting the most incredible package ever only to realize you arrived five minutes late. Also laundry isn't quite 24 hour... Why not? These sort of things just get on people's nerves and could be easily resolved if management tried. Again, LSP is fine--it is relatovely cheap compared to other nearby options, well located, and has a friendly enough staff to keep you pleased.
The location is great, in the middle of the lively city center with tons of restaurants, bars and entertainment. The building itself however is very outdated and not well maintained. Management is not putting any money in updating the building so there is no progress there. Doormen and other staff is great though.
I just moved in at the beginning of the month, and I feel like I'm getting a pretty good value for a building in Streeterville. My unit has a gorgeous view of the lake and river, I'm a block away from Navy Pier and the Lakefront Trail, and I'm just a quick walk from the Mag Mile, lots of great food, and the Grand Red Line. Besides a great view and location, all the building staff I've interacted with have been friendly and helpful. My neighbors aren't too loud (luck of the draw!) and there are some pretty decent amenities (pool, jacuzzi, grills, fitness center, sauna, laundry & in-house dry cleaning). My only issue is with the elevators. With just four elevators for forty floors, plan accordingly when leaving for work. As long as you can have a little patience waiting for your elevator (or really build some leg strength taking the stairs), this building is perfect for anyone who wants to be near the heart of the city without dealing out big cash for a luxury apartment/condo.
This building is steps from everything important in a buzzing city like Chicago. Walking distance from the glorious sights of Navy Pier (yes I can see fireworks from my apartment!), shops on Magnificent Mile and a variety of restaurants. The property has friendly staff, dry cleaners on site, package receiving, a gym and a pool with lounge chairs and a grilling area! Personally, I like waking up to beautiful views of Lake Michigan with plenty of sunlight throughout the day. Bonus points for my window not staring into someone else's apartment!
I love living here because the building is good and I am close to navy pier and I have a multiuted of way to get around and here is a grocery store in two blocks on on Fairbanks and one on lake shore drive at huron. and I also two blocks from the hospital
