Property Ratings at Lakes at North Port
After calling twice with no answer, I was able to set up an appointment online. Upon walking in, the desk attendant just stared at me without saying a word. I told her that I was here for a tour, but she told me that the apartment that I had applied for was already taken. It seems like the courteous thing to do would be to alert someone before they drive out to your location for a tour that there is no availability. Truly unbelievable. But I guess it showed me that I dodged a bullet with this management staff.
Before doing a tour with the office, get a chance to meet the residents by walking around. Multiple buildings will have roach infestations and the office will claim it's being worked on. Most of us have been home going on two years with Covid, we can say for sure that many visits didn't happen. So, who's not being honest, the pest control company, or are the requests only ‘documented’? I recall being told once that the pest control plan for roach infestation was waiting on budget approval. Residents keep paying a pest control fee for nothing. I know that neighbors who moved in after me left within months due to the infestation and I can't blame them. Forget about a deposit coming back. I had the place cleaned, baseboards repaired (which were noted as damaged at move-in) at my expense when they weren't from existing water damage prior to move-in, maintenance requests showing leaking windows from rain, which happens a lot in Florida, among other things. Always reported on time. Instead of a call or email, received a letter about collections due to damages, yet was inspected prior to move out and told everything was fine. Have a feeling the office administration felt they could place charges outside of what maintenance reported. Maybe send an email if there are charges, even if they are illegitimate. Property management had no problem sending a survey and request for a recommendation after move out but no contact otherwise? Definitely no phone calls - call records would prove that. Paying rent online, you'll get a nice fee, minimum 35 but up to 100! So much for convenience. As for the amenities, you won't be using the clubhouse, it was a storage room the entire time I lived there, and the pool was constantly closed for various issues unrelated to covid. The more recent Maintenance staff are actually decent people who do a good job, as long as they are approved to use resources, it's out of their control. The problem becomes the property manager. Corporate offices should really interview the majority of residents, without notifying the property manager ahead of time, and they will hear the same. Costs are cheap but expect your rent to raise at a minimum of $200 a month each year. Apparently, they justify it by claiming it's their ‘market value'. While new locations are built nearby, they aren’t infested with roaches yet, new appliances and not falling apart cabinetry such as what I and many other residents at lakes of north port experienced.
I saw the bad reviews when I moved here but gave it a chance anyway. WORST MISTAKE IVE EVER MADE. There literally is not enough space to write all that is wrong here. The ONLY reason they have ANY positive reviews is that they bribe people with winning a free months rent from a drawing if they post a good review. Trust me as a single mom I could use a free months rent but I still never posted a fake review! Mold, roaches, constant maintenance issues that either take forever to get fixed or not fixed properly at all, no parking at night (unless you walk across the whole complex) it just goes on and on. PLEASE don't make the same mistake I did. I cannot wait til my lease is up!!!
Moved from CT, due to COVID, wasn’t able to home shop. This being our first time living in an apartment we were expecting the worse, instead have had no issues. When we first got here the AC stopped working, and it to a week to get approval and unit installed. Rent does include water and trash pickup, no bug issues, except did get some wolf spiders in the beginning, found out if you live near the woods down here your going to get them. Electric bill for size of the apartment is very low. Pets allowed is nice. We have nice neighbors, it’s quiet. Bad side not much storage, no patio or deck.
Not enough storage, single pane windows, reoccurring mold issues, the rent price they list is Not the real price, they add on water, trash, sewer, and a convenience fee if you live on the 1st floor
Management lousy, no updates, cheap, charging $90 for water and $20 for garbage on the top of the rent.
DO NOT MOVE HERE UNLESS YOURE OK WITH BEING INFESTED WITH ROACHES. If you’re considering moving here I STRONGLY urge you not to. Someone had warned us not to move here when we told them we were looking here because of their “cockroach infestation” and I ignored them, thinking that there is “no way we could get roaches.. we’re clean!!!”. We keep our apartment SPOTLESS but have had an ongoing german cockroach infestation for almost 8 months now. Pest control comes every single week and there’s nothing that can really be done because roaches TRAVEL AND LIVE IN THE WALLS. My neighbors will agree that the whole building is infested. Staff refuses to solve issues and are so RUDE as if we want to be harassing them about having german cockroaches. It is absolutely DISGUSTING how we have been treated over a problem we did not cause. The staff will argue with us saying “pest control is saying one thing and you’re saying another” as if we are lying to them about having an infestation. We go into the office once a week to complain and the issue has yet to be resolved. I have gone as far as calling a private pest control company and paying $200 out of pocket to hire a private pest control company, just to them to say there’s nothing they can do when the roaches travel through the apartment walls. We are killing 5 every single day and apartment complex management REFUSES to move us to another unit or let us out of our lease. Will be calling an attorney. Please take this seriously if you are EVER considering moving here! I have a small child (1 year old) and this apartment is one of the worst mistakes of my life!

We appreciate you reaching out, though we're disheartened by your review. We work hard to provide a clean and comfortable home for our residents, and we apologize if you've felt like that has not been the case. We feel it would be best to speak with you directly, and we ask that you give us a call at (941) 429-9799 when you have the time. Thank you.
Staff: Turnover of staff this includes maintance workers and managers alike is incredible. Every month there is a different receptionist. Plus maintance people are lazy and do the bare minimum. Maintenance overall can be decribed as poor. There are so many little things breaking constantly & even major things that should & can be avoided. My personal experince was the fridge and dishwasher breaking down within the first month of our lease. Then shortly after the a/c unit (which is old) they said we over worked it by turning it low...its Florida and the middle of summer. In december when i made the mistake of turning the heat on the apartment was smokey and smelled of burnt rubber. They adiviced me not to turn the heat on and said it was working"properly". Community: Every Sunday without fail there are full on parties at the pool thrown by people that don't even lease here. They get pretty loud. Laundry and "gym" are in the same general area so there is no missing it. Those people take up all availble parking spots next to the 3 front buildings. Stair cases and walkways are filthy. Dog poop is everywhere you walk. They threathen you with a $100 fee if you don't clean up after your animals but that is clearly not effective. The smoking rate of those who live here is outrageous. It wouldn't be such a problem but the "smoker perch" anywhere they please. They assign smoking areas but its's not enforced. this means if you have to walk to your car or walk your dog you are forced to inhale those toxins unless you cover your face with your shirt. Constantly having to yell excuse me because they sit in the middle of the stairway.

My husband and I moved to Florida from MA and moved into Lakes At North Port Apartments. Bonus was they are pet friendly. We found the apartment very clean, the entire staff from receptionist, maintenance, ground keepers and management have be completely friendly, available, and always there to help. The grounds where cleaned daily. Recommended!! Thank you from Building 1021..
when you first go to lakes at north port, its a friendly setting. once you sign your lease everyone changes. they have poor maintenance overall. there are so many little things breaking constantly & even major things that should & can be avoided. water heaters have been going out all last month. major water damaged & causing people to move around. its crazy. staff is rude & always threatening to evict people. if you call & ask questions they say they will call back & never do. problem with bugs lately because of new season. said they would stop in on wednesdays & spray, over a month ago & still no spraying for bugs. they over charge & under deliver. i pay $1000 a month for 900 square feet.
Usually pretty nice. Lived here for a year and is small but comfortable. Needs updating.
