Property Ratings at Lakeshore Apartments
0/10. Hands down the worst apartment we ever lived in. The day we moved in we had no AC, no hot water, and half of our outlets didn’t work. Plus the layout of the apartment was not what we were told we’d be getting. We were supposed to have a whole laundry room and we did not. Took them a few days to get the AC fixed in JULY. plus our dishwasher was not screwed in and they never came and fixed that ever. It fell out of the counter constantly. Fast forward a few months and the ceiling in our bathroom collapsed. Like a giant gaping hole. It should’ve been a day or two max to fix it and the person they had fix it was just unprofessional and did not know what he was doing. It took him like 5 days to drywall the ceiling… that is not a 5 day job. It looked like crap when it was finished. Fast forward a few months and our upstairs neighbor shot and killed someone 20 feet from us. Nobody offered to lower our rent after my balcony had crime scene tape on it. Nobody offered us and type of support. This place is ran down, management is iffy, maintenance is iffy, and the complex is not safe. Cars get broken into or stolen constantly. There has been multiple shots fired and then a murder 20 feet away from me. Awful. For the insane rent prices this place is not worth it
Property Manager at Lakeshore Apartments, Responded To This Review
We’d like to apologize for the negative experience you had with us. We’ve taken your feedback and will work hard to implement needed changes. We'd love to make things right! Please reach out to us at your earliest convenience.
I have lived here through management change. The current manager does not care about your living experience. Multiple drug and noise complaints have been filed and police have been called, yet management refuses to address concerns. Advertising should read “Warm bodies needed to fill units.”
From the amazing community activities, local food discounts for residents only, and HEATED pools, we love love love living here. The facilities, staff, and neighbors are A+. The apartments are upgraded, very on trend and the grounds are kept immaculate. I live here with my teenage daughter and find it very safe and friendly and QUIET.
Chase is the best leasing associate I have come to meet through apartment searching a few times over the last 4 years - approximately 60 apartment complexes including another state. Rent is very reasonable for the best quality I have seen in an apartment (granite counter tops sold me). Chase and the property manager were both understanding and accommodating when I needed to move my move-in date due to unexpected military orders including letting me keep the same rent. Chase was very open when I brought up the negative reviews I had read and didn't seem to cover anything up. I know I make final decisions based on critical-read reviews so I will update once I become an official resident.
Multiple cars with smashed windows on two separate nights in the last two months. In front of my building alone more than 7 car windows smashed and the cars ransacked. I started looking for a new place. Before I could get out I had my bedroom window smashed in and my apartment ransacked. Despite all this management has done nothing but send emails and “request additional patrols”. Based on what I’ve been told there have been as many as 50 cars broken into at this apartment in the last two months. If you want to feel safe in your next home, avoid at all cost. Despite not feeling safe in my own home the manager Corey told me that this “did not consitute letting me out of my lease”.
This comment will probably be deleted since that seems to be how it works when you don't say what management wants you to. I would never recommend living here. I was understanding and supportive for the entirety of my lease, followed all rules, paid rent every month on the first, etc. There were times I had to park a full mile away from my apartment after coming home late at night because of their construction trucks. It took 7 days for them to reply to an emergency toilet issue to where I had to leave my apartment and go to Marsh to use the bathroom. This happened 3 or 4 times before the maintenance guy finally figured out what was going on. Some office staff is great and friendly but the manager has been very difficult to work with and seemed to just want to get every cent he could. DO NOT LIVE HERE! Creating an apartments.com account purely to prevent people from living in this place that only wants your money and doesn't care at all about you!
While the apartments are not bad themselves, the fact that the complex is going through a major renovation, a poorly managed one, takes away all the good things I had to say. If you like to live in the construction zone with noise, dust, heavy machinery and blocked parking spaces, this is the place to move in. Btw, the construction will not be done until August 2017. and the material is left outside in the rain and snow. Good case for mold down the road...
I lived at Lakeshore for about a year doing 6 month leases at a time. Lakeshore is very affordable and in a nice neighborhood. The apartments are reasonable, and in an area with lots of shopping. Rent varies depending on locations/appliances in apartment. Work orders took a while to get filled with appliances going bad during my lease but they gave me a MARSH gift card for my troubles and replaced my washer and dryer with brand new equipment. The people in the office were very pleasant to work with. Only area that needs improvement are hallways inside actual apartments. Very unkept common space, management seems to disregard this and does look ugly. At the same time, price is extremely affordable!
The location on 82nd street is terrific in regards to places to eat and shop. Everything from fast food to 5-star steak and seafood restaurants to quality sports bars are within a 5 minute drive. Two high quality grocery stores (Marsh and Fresh Thyme) within a 1 minute drive of the complex. My actual single unit itself is well maintained. I opted for the older appliances to save money, and they all work just fine, despite their older looks. I did have to supply my own microwave, which I found odd. There is a washer and dryer in the unit contained within it's own wash room. In my experiences with apartment living, having a washer and dryer in the unit is fantastic. The bathroom is huge for a single apartment. It has a large sink area, towel closet with multiple shelves, a medicine cabinet, the tub is a nice size and the faucets are more than decent. There is storage under the sink as well. The bedroom isn't huge, but it's cozy with a few pieces of medium sized furniture and a queen size bed. Still enough room for two people to move around, but you wouldn't want to have a party in there. The bedroom does have nice sized walk-in closet with shelving. I was able to fit my dresser in my closer and still have plenty of room to hang clothes and store shoes along with a few other bags and items. My bedroom has a bookshelf, a medium sized coffee table with TV, a queen size bed, a dog bed and there is still room to walk around, even lay down, on the ground. I opted for the larger of the two single bedroom floor plans, so I have an area for a small dining table adjacent to the kitchen and living space. The kitchen itself is an ok size with some counter space, but if you have any appliances like I do, more than 2 and you'll be eating up a bunch of counter space. The fridge is a decent box fridge with an ice maker in the freezer. Could use some more cabinet space, but it's ok for one person. The dual well sink is nice, and the older dishwasher works just fine. The dining area is small and barely fits my small, round 4 person table, but it works. The living area is considerably smaller than similar apartment complexes in the area typically have. I have a 3 seat couch, an ottoman, a recliner with a small TV stand and it feels a bit tight at times. I also crammed my smaller sized desk behind the couch, but I didn't have much choice. Every unit has a patio or balcony. It's a nice size and fits two lawn chairs and a table nicely.
I have lived at Lakeshore Apartments for 10 months now, and have had a mostly positive experience. The office staff and maintenance are great and the property is very well maintained! And although turning left out of the apartment complex onto 82nd street can be a bit of a challenge, the location is almost perfect. My biggest issue has been a neighbor that moved in a few months ago. She likes to play loud music and turn up the bass, which is frustrating at times. My only other issue is the carpet, which can be a pro or con, depending on how you look at it. The positive side is the complex almost always replaces the carpet between tenants. The negative side is since they replace the carpet so often, they must buy the cheapest carpet on the market. My carpet was new when I moved in 10 months ago and it’s already matted down pretty bad in all the high traffic areas. All in all, however, I’ve been happy and would suggest Lakeshore Apartments to anyone checking out this part of town.
Lakeshore is the only apartment complex I've lived at since moving to Indy in the spring of 2013. I have obviously liked it enough to keep living here - there is a lot to do in the nearby areas. It's also very convenient to have 465 a couple blocks away, allows you to choose highway or Allisonville for the commute downtown. The apartment itself has treated me well and I really have no complaints about it. I've had a couple things need fixing or patching up (normal wear and tear), but the maintenance crew has taken care of it rather quickly. The only thing that might keep me from living here longer would be the fact that it can be a little expensive for a one bedroom apartment. It's a little pricey, but I understand for the quality of living around here it must be kept that way.
Maintenance request suck!! I have two broken feet and requested to be let out of my lease do to medical reasons so I can move in with family and they won't let me. So I requested to move to a down stairs unit and they won't let Me!!!
Great apartment a little expensive but worth it. Takes a while for them to fix things tho
I have lived at Lakeshore for 5 months and love it! The people here are all very friendly. The leasing office as well as the maintenance staff are all very friendly and helpful. The location is awesome..close to interstate access as well as all the shopping and restaurants. The work out room as well as the two pools are very well taken care of. I love living here!
I have been a resident of Lakeshore for nearly two years and it has been a pleasent experience! If there have been any maintenance issues the staff has been quick to respond.
I have been staying at the Lake Shore Apartments for about a year and I am happy to state that they have been great. The apartment sizes and location provide fast access to the highway in addition they size of the room is a coupled with the rent amounts provides a great value. The staff is attentive to my needs, I have had to have them replace a refrigerator that stopped working and which they did very promptly. I frequently purchase items online and they are always helpful in ensuring my items are available for me when I return from work. In the morning the grounds keeping staff is always working to maintain the grass and pathways they also do a good job of clearing the snow during the winter. All round great service and a value based price
