Property Ratings at Lakeside Apartments
These apts are great. I had a maintenance request. Maintenance responded in less than 24 hrs. He came in. Identified the problem immediately. Resolved it. He also fixed a couple other things before leaving. He was amazing. In addition to maintenance, I'd like to add that no drugs, vaping or smoking is allowed. It's not a 55+ community but there are a lot of us here. Maintenance and the manager live on the property and they do a great job keeping the place maintained, quiet and safe. It's a lovely place to live.
The management is absolutely despicable. Both of the managers are sad people who bully others. They change and add rules to the lease at least every 6 months. They tack on extra fees and lie blatantly on their website. This complex has a MAJOR drug problem. I have watched actual drug deals happen in front of the A Building. Police actively drive around the complex parking lot. This complex is frequented by the homeless and those under the influence of drugs. This is not by any means good place to live. The whole area smells like trash because the dumpsters aren't emptied often enough. 7 months ago, I worried that one of the tenants below me had died because the smell so bad. The landlords decided to put several cheap plug ins in each hallway, each at full blast, and each a different smell. This complex is an asthmatics nightmare. When I moved in, the stove was broken. After saying that he would be back to repair it in 3 days, he decided to enter my apartment without notifying both signers on the lease. The landlord of this building entered my apartment without my permission; only notifying my roommate. There are geese that will chase you in the parking lot. There is heavy traffic outside this building almost all hours of the day. There is no assigned parking. If you where to put every nightmare quality into one complex, this would be it. Please, dear god, do not move here. I have so many regrets and so much wasted money.

I am the property manager at lakeside, while yes we do have geese which we can’t do anything about, and yes we do have traffic that we also can’t do anything else about, we strive for perfection here at lakeside. We do not change the rules without notice, we do however post the rules frequently to remind all tenants and new tenants of the rules, as these rules are in your lease and most people do not read their lease. We do background checks and we do not see any drug problems in this complex. If you contact the local Lexington police department, they will tell you we have the best apartment complex in town and they drive through our complex as a courtesy. We have never seen a homeless person, nor have we seen any in the Lexington area period. The trash gets dumped twice a week per dumpster. I personally lived below this person making this statement and I can assure you I’m not dead and a very clean person, so yes I like the smell of an air freshener to walk into the building. There is no assigned parking because we feel that we do not need it. People can come and go as they please. Yes her stove had a bad Burner and I can assure you that we replaced it the same day. As for coming into the apartment, we have a work order that states we had permission to enter the apartment. We wish we could please every tenant but unfortunately there are some tenants we cannot always please. If we can help anyone in anyway , please let us know. We are open to any and all suggestions to keep bettering lakeside apartments.
Very clean apartments, onsite manager and maintenance. Property manager is very clean and works hard. They have very high standards here and expect the same from everyone !!! Other people who haven’t been happy must have not gotten their deposit back because they were dirty people. I got all my deposit back because I cleaned very well and they told me exactly what to clean. Never had a problem at all. Always got my maintenance requests done the next day or same day. Great place to live, I bought a home or I would have stayed even longer. Love this place and would recommend it to anyone .
Clean Apartment, except I always had flies on the inside near one of my bedroom windows. I would clear them away by opening the window and in couple days they would be back. Tried telling the management, response was one of the windows may have been left open. No onsite maintenence. I had signed month to month lease. Was initially told I would get my rent prorated for the month I move out, which was not the case when I got my deposit refund check. The manager forgot that when you do month to month, you still get charged the whole month, even if you stay only 2 days in the month. That is fine only if I was told, so I could have moved to my new apartment later. Also beware of the charges they apply after you move out for cleaning. I have never seen such extensive list for cleaning the apartment for moving out anywhere. And I have stayed in several different cities all over US. I was only here for 4 months, did not have any furniture and used just one bedroom. Minimal use really, and me and My girlfriend cleaned up the apartment like new before we left. They still charged us all this random stuff like clean vents, clean globes, wash windows etc. Total of $161. Not too much I know, but still have not seen this anywhere. My apartment barely needed cleaning. I have never paid any charges from my deposit anywhere else.
We lived at Lakeside Apartments for over 9 years. When we first moved there, they were clean, well kept, quiet and a great place to live. Mejola Properties bought them a couple of years ago, and management of the apartments has been on a steady decline since. We were promised an adult only building, when we left there were at least 5 children in two of the apartments. Three children and two adults in a 2-bedroom apartment. The quiet time is not enforced, parking now is always a problem and within the last month drugs have been too. Mejolia charges for water that they can't prove you use. In our building, the water bill rose $400.00 in the month of October. I found out from the manager that most of it was due to faulty equipment on their part - yet they still charged everyone for it. Garbage dumpsters are almost always a mess, as well as common areas. One guy trashed his apartment so bad, it smelled up the whole building, we thought someone had died in one of the apartments. Garbage was spilled on the wall outside of our apartment, and was dried there for over 6 weeks. When we left, it still hadn't been cleaned off the wall. Mejolia Properties also TWICE charged tenants for ceiling problems in our building because they had leaks in an upstairs apartment. Who ever rents here should look-up and know tenants rights, because you'll need to know them! My only regret on this review, is that I had to give them a one star rating to write it. That is more credit than they should get.
If you would have asked me a year ago I would have said there was no place better in the area. However as time went on, rent has increased and increased with the same aging amenities. Owners are stingy. They are very strict when you move out including $99 carpet cleaning subtracted from your deposit that is non-negotiable. No matter how hard you clean you will also have some form of a cleaning fee assessed. Don't be surprised if you get a repair charge too without explanation. (I guess you could call but they should go over all that with you at move out). I never met the owners once in the few years I lived there. I was also told if we moved out before the end of the month and the apartment was leased that we'd receive a credit. Moved out 3 weeks early and never saw a dime. I no longer recommend this complex to anyone.

I have lived in these apartments for 3 years. They are clean, quiet and well maintained. The manager is efficient and solves problems quickly and efficiently. The reputation in town is that these are the safest and nicest in the area.

We believe any changes have been for the better! Our rent is still the lowest in the area for comparable units. And when it comes to cleanliness, we plead guilty to having high standards! Management consistently and promptly refunds to the previous tenant any overlapping rents when a new tenant moves into the same unit.
When I was looking for an apartment last year, I was told by long-time residents of Lexington that Lakeside is the safest apartment complex in the area. And it is true! It is quiet and clean. We have no pets here and no smoking is allowed. Repairs are taken care of quickly and the manager is very friendly and helpful. I can submit maintenance requests and pay my rent on-line which is very convenient.
I have lived in this apartment for two years and keep a good maintenance of my apartment. When I move out they charged me $820 to repair everything. IT IS CRAZY. There two lower side of the walls in the one of the bedroom has some molding problem which is not caused by me. They charge me $520 to wash the molding and paint the wall which cannot be that expensive. They are just trying to take advantage of me. It is the worst experience I have ever meet. Bad Landlord.

Since most tenants make an effort to leave their apartment as clean as it was on move-in, we rarely hold the entire deposit to pay for clean-up and repairs. Occasionally, as in this case, the damage is so severe that the cost of clean up is greater than the deposit.
1. the drink water there is terrible to drink. Even though I use water filter, my filter is always clotted because of the hard water. 2. the apartment is close to a pond, which some quite few snakes in the pond. I saw the snake couple of times in my patio, which scares me a lot! 3.the manager only at the office just two-three days a week. it is hard to find the manager when I need him
Lived here for about a year in 2013 and it was a very nice and quiet place to live in. The rent is extremely cheap and you can add a garage (a must for winter) for around fifty bux a month. The lady who manages the property is extremely friendly and always available. She is very understanding and flexible. I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and definitely would recommend this place to my friends.
Apartments are newer and clean. Recently under new ownership no longer has management on site or maintenance on site. Repairs are not completed in a timely fashion. Garages are 18' deep not 20 as advertised. Rooms are only painted where repairs were made from previous renters, many paint lines. Aside from that, very nice location, extremely quiet and pleasant at night, competitive pricing and friendly tenants.
