Located on Lake Erie’s western shore, Monroe sits on the Detroit-Toledo Expressway, just 17 miles north of Toledo and 35 miles south of Detroit. Michigan’s third oldest community, Monroe is one of the most historic cities in the state. Monroe was the site of the River Raisin Battlefield, the bloodiest battle of the War of 1812.
Aiming to balance the stewardship of historic preservation with the opportunities of economic development, Monroe is quickly becoming an arts and cultural hotspot. The River Raisin Jazz Festival draws tens of thousands every year in addition to the Monroe County Fair. Downtown Monroe is home to the Monroe County Historical Museum and the River Raisin Centre for the Arts as well as plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. Monroe’s Sterling State Park on the shores of Lake Erie offers residents and visitors access to boating, swimming, camping, wetlands exploration, hiking, and fishing.

Property Ratings at Landings at Cedar Creek
I have lived a few places in monroe and this is my favorite. It doesnt feel like an apartment which is nice. They are more modern and large in size. even though you have neighbors it still feels more private. I wish they had assigned parking but thats the only thing I would change.
Run away from this place. Everything about it is horrible.
I applied, and everything was moving smooth. My credit was fine and my background check was OK too. When came time to move in, they gave my townhouse away without any good explanation and left me in a bind. I was counting on them. I did nothing wrong.
The Townhouses are very spacious, high ceilings, pool, water free, great Staff and Maintenance repair. Great location. Within 1/2 mile I have Meijers, Walmart, Aldi's, GFS, Shopping Mall, and Movie Theater. Very Quiet Complex. Large closets, one walk in is in the master bedroom. Outside patio and a storage room.
to court, I was geting evicted!!! The reason for the eviction apparently was because the $729 was NOT for rent, but for all of the extra & unwarranted "legal" fees that have never once happened that way, PLUS $75 EACH MONTH SINCE for late fees. Now the total is over $1200 for 3 months of legal fees & 8 months of late fees that NONE OF WHICH would be valid if the first fees were never invalidly charged! They also said it was NOT the aparment's responsibility to notify me of ANY legal or late fees that were accumulating, but it was the job of the courts!! In MY opinion, they are CROOKS & will act nice & professional to get the sale & get you into their complex, but have absolutely NO LOYALTY for good tenants after your first yearly lease is up!! BTW, I absolutely DO have all proof of everything i have written here either IN WRITING, or even as saved recorded verbal conversations with management at the office AND even financial managers who were actually at the Van Rooy Headquarters in Indiana who were also spoken to about this & admitted ON TAPE that the circumstances to which I explained to them & also what they verified in the almost 4yr payment history did "in fact have something wrong with it"!!! Their words! But nothing came in the way of help to simply get the incorrect charges removed after proving that 100% of the rent amount was paid every month without fail. DO NOT APPLY HERE, as Eric & Angela are both Managers who IN MY OPINION will purposely sabbotage your livelyhood by taking away your home, & putting an undeserved eviction on your record making it nearly impossibly to move into anywhere decent again. Not to mention the now $1500 in incorrect charges that are on my credit record that I should NOT be forced to pay. The key sentence in EVERYONE'S lease after the 5th of the month, is that any addl fees "are at their discretion"!!! No dates, so it technically could be the 6th of every month where the $218 will apply. Renters HEAVILY BEWARE!!!!
They have a $75 late fee after the 5th of the month...which sounds good at first. However, after 3 years of following THEIR PAYMENT RULES TO THE LETTER & not having 1 complaint or issue against me, I had multiple medical seizure months & from losing some work, I couldn't pay rent ($700 $75) until the 15-16th for 2 months in a row. It was previously verified in person that as long as a month's rent & it's late fee, $75, was paid BEFORE the first of the following month, no other fees would be incurred...and for OVER 3 YEARS, THEY NEVER WERE. However, after hiring a new Asst Manager in August, & for those 2 months WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME, I was charged $218 EACH MONTH for Court/legal/filing/serving fees(though what was filed, or served as I got NO PAPERWORK telling me I needed to go to court for anything)!! On top of that, there was a $75 late fee EACH MONTH for the "late fees" from December to the following July totaling anothe $600, but NOT for rent, as I paid rent in full & on time every month since...except 1 time in March! I DID get a court paper in April saying I owed $729 & called the office asking about it. I had my bank account open while speaking to the office employee as he asked if I "thought I paid rent, or actually verified it was paid", & I stated clearly I was looking at March's rent payment that cleared as I was talking to him. He then said that if I KNEW FOR SURE that rent WAS paid that I DID NOT need to go to court as the cae would be dismissed & that the rent & paperwork probably crossed while processing. However, in July I got a notice saying that because I did not go...continued on next part
