Property Ratings at Lantern Village
Yes, it is all expense paid and if you’re really struggling and need a place to stay, MAYBE sign and one year lease. Everything is old and out of date. The premises are not well kept at all. The pools are a weird green color. The management is trash. The have terrible communication and hard track down. The carpets have weird smells. The cabinets in the kitchen are so small that a regular size plate can barely fit. The area is dangerous. Security is a con because it sometimes takes 20 minutes to get inside of the complex because they have to check ID’s of every car entering the gate. Never be in a rush to get home. It’s a bad area with even worse apartments. Not to mention roaches. Don’t do it.
I've been living here for over 15 years. Pros - All bills paid - no extra water or electric bill. 24 hour security on site which cuts down on incidents, especially considering the location. The most important factor is that rent is cheap. Cons - These are older apartments that are *really* showing their age. Maintenance is an issue, constant problems with climate control. The AC can barely keep up in the summer and be careful with electronics, too much pull results in tripped breakers. Parking can be an issue after 10pm.
I have lived here just over a year. Every few weeks I have to call maintenance about an issue, maintenance will then ignore me for days or even a week no matter how urgent the situation is. We have had leaking ceilings, dips in the floor, uncontrollable cockroach and ant problems, the appliances are all old. Staff are rude. The AC does not work in the summer and the heater does not work in the winter.
These are my first apartments EVER moving into and I was not disappointed! The staff are very knowledgeable of the property, maintenance is on point when there’s a problem, it’s waaaay better than the apartments across the street. Best part is the paid utilities AND 24/7 very nice guards at the entrance. I would honestly invest in making another complex just like this.
I have been here for almost a year and I have had no complaints at all! I do not know what everyone else sees, but I have yet to see a roach or rodent anywhere. The parking isn't bad at all. The staff is always helpful and responds to any requests our household makes for maintenance. Highly recommend!
Smoke free? What a joke. If neighbor smokes too bad for you, deal with it or move out because the leasing office manager is just a title and you can’t complain to her. Security “supposedly” can’t live in property big LIE, they can do WHATEVER they want and care less about what the contract says and get away with it I have one as a neighbor and Oh boy! I can tell one thing or two. Stay away if you like rules to be followed. No pest infestation if you are super clean which is okay. Maintenance good.
I wish i don't have to give no star. Roaches are unbelievable! I am not a dirty person so I really cannot understand how I've had roaches for the entire time I've been here. Literally they are everywhere! They say they have pest control service, but they must be spraying juice because whatever it is they are using isn't working. Rats in my apartment. Yes, Rats! I told the complex, and they said they'd send someone out the next week. Yup, I had to wait several days for them to send out a maintenance guy. He came out to try and do something about it. And by something about it, he plugged the holes the rats created with small wooden blocks, and put glue traps under the sinks. Yup, that's some world-class extermination procedures. In the meantime, the rats had completely torn up the carpets, and left their droppings all over. office staff have no respect at all. Stay away from this Apartment.
Not enough parking lot. Cockroaches are everywhere.
This is me and my husbands first apartment. We enjoy living here. The complex is very quiet all the time, which is amazing. They have do 24 gate guards which is what sold us to move here. You will also see them walking the property through out the day. The apartment is very spacious and we love the brick that comes inside. The only reason I deducted a star was because the parking can be a bit of a issue sometimes. Anytime after 9 it seems to be full or almost full.

I moved here in December and I'm very happy with it. The staff is great, maintenance is timely, there are 24 hour gate guards and staff the patrol the complex regularly, everyone in the leasing and business office is very helpful. To give a little perspective, I live in a one bedroom unit without the washer/dryer. Pros: It is spacious, I'm constantly surprised by how much room I have: - There are two closets in the bedroom. One is huge, it would make a small but decent bedroom for a toddler, the other is a good size with built in shelves. Both are walk-in closets. The Bed room itself is a good size. I have a queen-sized bed and enough room for a night stand on either side and dresser at the end of the room. There is a small windows that looks out over the parking lot and lets in plenty of natural light. - The bathroom is the perfect size (water pressure is great, though controlling the water temp. does take a little back and forth fiddling). - The Kitchen is small and only has counter space on one side. The other is stove - fridge - pantry. The pantry is a decent size for someone living on their own or with one other person. Be careful though, they are deep and go off to the side a little, so it is easy to forget something is in there because you can't see it. There are cabinets above the fridge and stove, and over/under the sink and counter. - I am constantly surprised at how large my dining room is. It could fit 6 people easily and not really encroach into the living room. - The living room is a good size. It has a brick accent wall and another wall is a large picture window (facing into a beautiful courtyard/pool). It is large enough to accommodate and normal size couch, coffee table, oversized chair, and a small-medium entertainment center. There is great pest control. I have been here for three months and have only seen two small house roaches, and one small wood roach (all killed on sight). For old apartments in Texas, that's pretty impressive in my book. It's quiet. I wouldn't know have known that I had neighbors on one side if I hadn't met them, and I can vaguely hear the TV at night on the other, but never well enough to make out what is being said. The foot traffic outside is also minimal and quite. Cons: The walls are white, and you can't paint. There is limited counter space in the kitchen. There is no trim around the doors or windows. No ceiling fans. Parking will get filled up after about 10 in the evening.
Use to be fair place to live, but since the Canadian company took over it has gone right downhill
its fun and very nice and have the most outstanding and great managers and community features great place to stay
Although these apartments are older, they have been renovated and have an excellent maintenance department as well as 24-hour security. There are swimming pools and on site laundry rooms. There are apartments which have washer and dryer. These apartments are located near grocery and shopping centers. Many restaurants are near by also.
Lantern is a clean and quiet apartment complex. The property manager is very attentive and they respond well to any issues you might have. It's a good and secure apartment complex as well.
I love this complex. The security is tight and I feel very safe here. Maintenance is always on time and they get the job done. Office staff is helpful and friendly. The complex is very quiet and the people are great!
Lantern Village has a great maintenance staff. Also, there is 24-hour security. It is located to great shopping areas ie the Galleria and Meyerland . Great grocery shopping ie Kroger, HEB and Randalls. Close freeway access ie Highway 59 and Loop 610.
Call me biased, but you would be, too, if you happily lived in an apartment community for fourteen years and counting! No where else in Houston are you going to find a combination of space, amenities, and value that Latern Village has to offer: Spacious units: none of that "will all my furniture fit in here?" nonsense! Lots of great already-included stuff: Covered parking? Microwave? 24-hour controlled access points covered by real people and security personnel that walk the grounds 24 hours a day? Electric, water, sewer, and garbage? Buildings build around either landscaped courtyards or swimming pools, your choice? Yes to all of it! For an extra fee, get cable and/or a washer/dryer and pay for it with your rent, no extra bill to keep track of? We got it! A mile or less to three freeways, minutes from the Houston Galleria, less than 10 miles to Downtown, the Medical Center/NRG Stadium! Quiet complex with responsive management and a full crew of maintenance workers. Most small repairs handled within hours! And the best part: all this for upwards of HALF what you would pay anywhere else. Langern Village may not be the newest place in town or be located right in the trendiest part of the city, but seriously, why pay more for flash and dazzle outside and get less for your money inside?
We have lived here for a very long time. The maintenance department is constantly losing people so it takes forever for anything to get fixed. The air conditioner has broken more times than I want to count and because of its location (on the roof), it can only be worked on during the day. So if it is goes out in the evening, you can forget about it. Which has happened...many times. The roach problem here is ridiculous. No matter what we do, they won't die. There are several cracks in the wall due to the foundation sinking. It has been repaired twice and continues to crumble. We cannot afford to move yet i hate living here.
I moved into Lantern Village earlier in the year and am very happy with my decision. While the property is older, it is well kept and my specific apartment had new kitchen appliances and fixtures. The proximity of Lantern Village could not be better. You are between Bellaire and The Galleria as well as 4 blocks from highway 59 and 610. The rent is affordable and all utilities are paid. Parking is covered at no additional cost. I have found if I come home after 11 PM, I may have to park a building or two down. There are 24 hour gate people that check each person for ID to enter. They are VERY thorough and will not allow access to people without proper ID's. It is a hassle for my visitors, but gives me peace of mind. I recommend Lantern Village without exception. Do keep in mind that they have a wait list and you need to plan ahead and move fast to secure a place. Good luck in your search.
