The mix of cosmopolitan flair and low-key atmosphere once led LA Weekly to speculate that North Hollywood just might be the best place to live in the Los Angeles area. This community has become popular among artists, writers, filmmakers, and actors seeking balance between easy access to Hollywood and a quieter, more suburban home environment.
The local food and bar scene is robust, and the bohemian vibe of the NoHo Art District attracts all manner of offbeat creative types. Uncommon among Los Angeles-area communities, much of North Hollywood is quite walkable, with food, drinks, galleries, and performance venues just a leisurely stroll away from one another. Thankfully for renters, all of the perks of this location come at a relatively affordable cost. Most renters pay an average of $2,282 to rent in North Hollywood, about $500 less than the Los Angeles average.

Property Ratings at Las Casitas Apartments
I have lived here since 1977 and still love this building. Of all the managers I dealt with in the past, I find Alex to be the best. She is very friendly and helpful to everyone and makes us feel at home. When a repair job is completed in my Unit, she inspects the work to make sure all is good. That was something Andrew or Diane would not do, so I was impressed. She seems to be a fun person. Raymond
Although the building & overall style is very 70's (when the building was originally made), you get incredibly spacious rooms in the apartments, & feel you are getting a good deal for your money unlike a lot of places in LA. Another positive is that the building is very secured. However, the apartment does not have any amenities nor does it include any of the bills. The landlord, who lives on site, is a bit essentric, almost to a level that maybe some people with introverted personalities cannot handle.. Though she means well & is very flexible. Quality of living here also depends on which unit you receive. If you live towards the back (where I live) you will be constantly hearing the noise from the apartment building next door. In general it's a bit of a loud street. This building is in walking distance of many popular places.
Property Manager at Las Casitas Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for the review! I agree, very 70's, 1974 to be exact, but that also means our apartments were designed with more living space for each unit, unlike most of the properties being built today. We think the location of Las Casitas makes up for the lack of amenities, with all the NoHo places around the corner. However, we'll never be able to fit in a pool. Sorry! We hadn't previously heard about a noise problem in the north section of the building, and it sounds like you live (or might have lived, since this response comes over a year since the review) over Klump Street, and maybe you're hearing it more at night (?) as people drive to Magnolia or Camarillo to make their way into the NoHo area for dinner, etc. You can thank the City of L.A. for that! They're the ones that insisted on widening Klump Street. But we're not talking like it's a main thoroughfare, right? It's still a two-way residential street that has been widened a little bit, presumably for the enhancement of the area? Who knows! Please inform Diane if the noise gets worse. Thanks! Barry
