West Lafayette is the proud home to Purdue University, and its downtown district shares the same adoration for this sprawling university. Downtown West Lafayette is an urban oasis along Wabash River with fantastic restaurants and bars to choose from such as Nine Irish Brothers and Greyhouse Coffee & Supply. Supermarkets, shopping centers, movie theaters, and more await you in this downtown district.
Affordable, trendy apartments make this neighborhood that much more appealing. Though Downtown is an urban locale, residents can get a sense of nature nearby at Happy Hollow Park, a hilly, wooded park featuring hiking trails, playgrounds, and more.

Property Ratings at Launch
The apartments that launch shows are a lie compared to what is given. Rooms are run down and on top of it they try to nickel and dime you every chance they get.
I've lived here a few years and only stayed because I didn't want to move while I was a grad student. They have finally driven me out due to rent increases - rent increased for my apartment by almost $200 (aka about 25% of current rent cost). The problems with these apartments do not justify that cost - these were built in the freaking 50s and it shows. The wiring is atrocious, the baseboard heaters are expensive and constantly break, AC is wall unit only, washer/dryers are unreliable. The package room is a total mess and they let anyone with the phone app enter I've had a few friends have packages stolen while living here. Due to their age, the apartments are constantly breaking down (I have a ceiling leak at least once a year and in the first couple of years I lived here it was several each year). Maintenance is overwhelmed by all the requests it is constantly getting. The only redeeming feature of this apartment is its proximity to bus route 5 to Purdue and the campus generally.
You should definitely never live here like all of the other reviews say. Most of the five star reviews are written by people who they give free stuff to. I lived here for 3 years because I had no other choices unfortunately. The washers and dryers almost always be broken. You had to put in money to see which ones were broken and each load was $1.75. The package room is a disaster where the package delivery people never put the package in the system so you don't know if your package came until you check yourself on whatever place you bought it from. It also is always cluttered and packages are everywhere on the ground. The maintenance people are a joke where they come "fix" things only after 3 months or whenever they feel like it because I had multiple maintenance people say they'll be back tomorrow and never come back ever again. The front office people always promises the maintenance people will fix your office within 24 hours but that never happens even when you constantly call them to ask when they coming to fix something. I never had hot water more than 5 minutes since I moved to this unit. They charge you ridiculous fees for sewage or trash even if it's their problem where their company won't take out the trash. The units are super old and break down all the time. I had mold grow and they just painted over it. I wouldn't recommend anyone living here if you want livable conditions.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with this housing company. Every time I requested a service, it felt like a never-ending wait, often spanning weeks, or requiring multiple requests before anything was resolved. The apartment itself was in terrible condition - an old and rundown unit plagued with issues like a clogged shower, stained carpet, and abysmally low water pressure. Adding to the frustration, a staggering 80% of the laundry machines were either out of order or performed so poorly that they might as well have been. What's even more infuriating is the behavior of the administration staff, specifically those who are supposed to be there to help. They displayed rudeness and dishonesty, practically acting like scammers. I had been promised a credit to my account since May, with my move-out date set for the end of July. I made countless trips to their office, consistently receiving the same promise: "We'll take care of it tomorrow." The cycle continued, and a few days before my move-out, I visited once again to ensure the credit was applied. The assurance was there - it would be processed by Monday the 31st. But alas, Monday came and went with no action. I made calls, they claimed they were addressing it urgently. Days rolled by, still no progress. And then, on Friday, when I inquired once more, I was met with rudeness and eventually hung up on. Then, on Wednesday, the 10th of August, I received a message stating that the credit had been added to my account. However, this was followed by a shocking revelation - they couldn't put the credit in my account because I was no longer a tenant. What's astonishing is that I had informed them of my impending move from the very beginning. I had emails to prove it, and I had even spoken to a specific person in person, voicing my concerns about the credit not being processed due to my move. And yet, they shrugged off my attempts to communicate and simply hung up on me. In conclusion, I advice you to steer clear of this place. The overall experience, from their sluggish service to the abysmal apartment conditions and the outright negligence of the administration staff, is beyond frustrating. This company's lack of professionalism and their disregard for tenant concerns is a clear sign that it's best to avoid this place altogether.
The facilities are nice for the price - but the maintinance is disasterously bad. I had an issue with my shower that caused it to leak, the heating bill to be insanely high, and the water to be cold. It took six months for this issue to be resolved. They kept coming in and saying they fixed it but the issue was not fixed. I came in weekly to ask them to fix and it and they did not fix it. Finally it was finished but there have been many similar problems involving maintinance where it takes them a very long time for them to fix things. I think they just need to hire more repair people or train them better. The hallway smelled bad (like rotting food) for several weeks, the carpet smelled bad until I bleached it myself, this property is just not taken care of well.
Like most real reviews on here, I wish I could give zero stars. Avoid this place as any other apartment close to campus is much better. Apartments are old and corridors are stinking. Once you decide not to renew the lease, they will not take care of your service request also. Unprofessional behavior from the property managers. In my unit, they repaired the AC after 4 months. LAUNCH SOCIAL LIVING is a very horrible company and will try to get money out of you in any way possible!!! For cleaning, they charged 230$ and also they charged me 300$ as I move out at 6 pm instead of 12 noon. They called it to trash out charges. I cleaned my unit completely but still, they charge 300$. When I send the email they send me the pictures of some other unit and telling this is the trash you have left out. Then I send them the video that I took while leaving my unit (just to show I clean the apartment properly and it is in good condition). But still, they have their reasons to take money from you. These are the ethics of them to take all the deposits from you. The real image will come out when you try to go out from launch. As friendly advice. DO NOT GO WITH LAUNCH SOCIAL LIVING if you are still deciding. Honestly...you will be happier in the long run. All of us who are coming from other countries don't have the idea about leasing companies like LAUNCH so, it is easy for them to fool you. Before you come to West Lafayette just search thoroughly and choose a better place.
One of the worst apartment complexes in all of West Lafayette. Do Not Read The Five Star Reviews! They are not real reviews and Launch gives out things if you give them a good review. It's a way to pad their ratings so they not seem as bad as they are. They will nickel and dime you out of everything, including your deposit. Front office are incompetent and the maintenance workers can only do so much with so little. Go literally anywhere else even if you're on a budget, because there are so many hidden costs. Avoid at all costs!
Property Manager at Launch, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your perspective on our reviews and our team's efforts, Cameron. We'd be happy to talk further about more specific issues you've experienced at Launch in-office or over the phone, as well as escalate your concerns beyond the property level if necessary. Our "hidden costs" are outwardly stated in your lease agreement and we'd also be happy to review any of those terms with you. Thank you again for your consideration, Cameron.
This is not a good place to live. This apartment complex is not worth your time and energy in dealing with the front office or the physical space itself. Most of the units are incredibly outdated and your electric and water bills will be inflated because of Launch's inability to put money into fixing problems. Most of the five star reviews are input by people who either work for Launch and or the various "events" that Launch runs to give out free stuff in exchange for a five star review. My partner and I have spent so much time and energy trying to get the most basic things out of the front office with very little to show for it. Front office are extremely unhelpful and often rude if confronted with a legitimate concern that they have 0 authority to help with. We have gone a month without AC during the summer and when we do run our AC unit its more of an overpriced fan than anything else. The heat runs until it is turned off because the sensors that tell it to shut off do not work. So you cannot turn on your heat without it staying on until its 79 degrees until it finally turns off. Most of the units are incredibly outdated and the maintenance staff can only put on Band-Aids for everything. Pray you don't have to work with the front office because they are taught to combat your problems rather than help and don't have any authority to help you with anything more than putting in a maintenance request. Do yourself a favor and don't even consider moving in to Launch even if the units are "cheaper." Stay literally anywhere else.
Property Manager at Launch, Responded To This Review
Stan, thank you for evaluating your experience with Launch from a personal and broad stance. We are very sorry that the issue with your A/C has persisted - it's unfortunate that the part needed to replace what is broken can take up to 3-4 weeks to be delivered, and we apologize if the communication of that piece has been frustrating to hear, or delivered inappropriately. We do provide a portable A/C unit for folks to use while they wait for the repairs to be complete, as we all are simply trying to combat the elements at all stages of the year when damages/faults occur. In an effort to see what more we can do to help while we wait on the parts, we'd love to have you connect with our general manager Shaina this week. She can be reached at sneidigh@liveatlaunch.com or by calling the office and asking for her directly (just mention your review). We hope to connect about your troubles sooner than later.
The office and maintenance staff are incompetent. They fail to fix to several ongoing issues in several units. After you sign your lease they don’t care about you. The units they actually place you in are disgusting and have broken appliances. No matter how many requests you put in nothing will ever get fixed.
Waves of wonderful memories wash over me as I look through the images of this place. I offer my credentials as someone who was likely one of the longer tenets they ever had. I lived here from 2007-2018. 11 years, and I never even considered leaving. Wherever I go in life, I doubt I'll ever find a place with this balance of desirable traits again. You have first, a very affordable price. But you don't sacrifice quality. It's nice here. And you have an incredible location. You are near Purdue, and you have the perfect combination to be able to walk to any point at Purdue, or the other direction to any point in Downtown. But you are also right in line with River Road to get you to the interstate, or easy access across the bridge to Lafayette. It has a vibrant community, and a wonderful feel. But somehow...it's both active and near the vibrant party scene of Purdue, yet manages to just be, in literally the perfect location to be peaceful and tranquil at the same time. You have a river or a pond to look over, depending on where you are at in the complex. You can walk to the Purdue bars easily. You have an indoor heated pool, which is the Unicorn of amenities for an apartment complex. In 11 years I never bothered to even look anywhere else. It's like if you build an apartment complex in an video game, and had maxed out the skill points and put them in the amenity bars perfectly balanced. Wherever I go in life, however long I live, I seriously doubt I'll ever find a place like this again.

It's been our sincerest pleasure to provide such a high quality of living for you over this past decade and beyond, Michel. We want to thank you for really expounding upon not only what Launch has to offer, but the entire surrounding area of the complex. We do hope that you've found a place outside of Launch that matches any sort of experience you've described here! Once again, thank you for being so vocal about your Launch love. We're glad we had you while we did!
They pay minimum attention to your requests and complaints (of course, they look very nice before you sign the lease). Everytime repairmen entered my apartment, he weared no protections and left lots of dirts on my floor.
Property Manager at Launch, Responded To This Review
This is an inexcusable issue as it reads in your review, and we'd like to take further action to right the wrongs done here if you're able to provide more color to the situation in-office this week. Thank you for raising your voice in the matter and holding our maintenance teams accountable. We hope to speak with you soon.
Love this place. Perfect spot between Purdue University and downtown Lafayette. Clean and roomy apartments, and the grounds are really pheasant. I definitely recommend it.

We love the impact Adriana has on our property; thanks for recognizing her efforts! It's awesome to see how effective she could be with your leasing process. Thanks for choosing Launch Apartments!
I’ve lived at Launch since 2017 &worked in the office since April 2018. I like the proximity to campus & my second job, being able to have a large dog, & that I have a larger space than most college places for a 1br. I was a transfer student at Purdue so I was worried about making friends & living off campus but I originally chose Launch because it was still within walking distance, events seemed fun, & it felt very safe. Through working in the office, I’ve definitely met a lot of friendly faces, made connections with residents, & helped plan some fun events. Overall, genuinely glad I chose to live here.

We're lucky to have you with us as both a past/current resident, and an awesome component to our team! We're glad to see this home works so well for all the different facets of your life.
I have lived Launch since August and I've worked in the office since December. I really love the dog park and being located on the Wabash Heritage Trail. At work, I love helping plan our events and getting to know the residents. Everyone in the office does everything they can to make everyone happy and I think that shows.

We couldn't agree more. :) Thank you for your transparent review, and for being an awesome resident on top of your excellent working skills!
I've lived at Launch for the past 3 years for multiple reasons! Launch offers the most affordable prices for only being 1.5 miles away from Campus. I can walk, bike, hop on the city bus (bus stop right in front of property) or drive to campus. Launch has a lot of amenities and events to offer to everyone! The management company took over halfway through my first year of living here. Since the take over there has been nothing but improvements! I highly recommend living at Launch. The office staff is super friendly and anytime I've had a maintenance issue, they have fixed it immediately. Launch is also super pet friendly!

As often as we sing the praises of how incredible Launch is, it doesn't quite hit as hard as coming from a resident. We can't thank you enough for your high praises of all the staff, amenities, and more that you love here!
When I was looking for my first apartment in West Lafayette I was very pleased with Launch. I was unsure at first because of the "Williamsburg on the Wabash" posts, but after talking about this with the Launch staff I learned they are totally redone and are owned by a different company. Its not the same place at all. For the quality and space you have, Launch is a great choice. The live-on courtesy officer is also very reassuring. Check this place out!
Property Manager at Launch, Responded To This Review
So happy to have you with us! We really appreciate your comments regarding the on-sit officer; it's a great security measure that makes our residents feel incredibly confident here. We are here for you; anything you need, our Launch crew is here to help.
The best apartment I’ve ever been in. Very nice and clean, rent is great, and the neighbors and very nice.

Started staying here recently, and let me tell ya! 5 stars doesn’t compare to the hospitality and good vibes this place shares with its community! Would completely recommend to any college student or small family in the area!
Property Manager at Launch, Responded To This Review
Thank you so, so much! We agree; sometime 5 stars just isn't enough! :) Thank you for recommending Launch to everyone.
I've lived here for almost 2 years and have absolutely no complaints. The staff is very helpful with whatever you need and go above and beyond to make sure that their tenants are happy. They have very spacious apartments for fair prices and are extremely dog friendly.

I've lived here for 7 months now and love it! My apartment is nice and pretty spacious. Office staff are very friendly and they offer fun events for us residents every month. For the price and location, it's a great place to live.

Very nice community, super supportive staff, quick maintainance. They have a very nice amenities including gym, swimming pool and lots of games. Monthly events are really great. I hope staff remains like this only. Shared bedroom apartments have separate bathroom for each bedroom. Nice thing to have.
I have been living here from past 6 months and I have liked this apartment a lot. It is adjacent to the Wabash river. The colony and the apartments are spacious. It is 1.5 miles from Purdue Engineering mall. The club house and gym are nice and working. The office staff is very humble and helpful. They resolve all the maintenance issues pretty quickly. Overall it is 9.5/10 as per my experience.
Good place to live in, bathrooms are great, great!
I love launch!! The staff is always really friendly and rent is super affordable for how close it is to purdues campus!! I have had no problems!
It’s a great location to campus and to all your go to eating places. I would recommend staying here. The staff is very nice and always willing to help.
Love them. They're awesome. It's a nice place. Good service
I recently signed a lease with Launch apartments. The staff and atmosphere were very welcoming. The leasing process was pretty fast from when I decided to sign to when we got everything in order. They were very helpful giving me clear guidelines on the stuff I would need because this was my first time signing a lease.
I'm a grad student at Purdue and I love the location. It's a short walk or drive to campus and there is always a parking spot available right next to my apartment when I return to Launch no matter the time of day. The office staff is very friendly, they always go out of their way to try to find a solution that will be best for the residents while still following the company policies. I also love their heated pool. Their maintenance team are hard working guys that do their best to answer all of the many, many service requests that are given them each day from clogged toilets to holes in wall from residents not being careful while they were moving.
My girlfriend and I signed a lease for a 1E in 2017 and it's been great. I use the pool and fitness room often and it's quieter than the corec. We also like the washers and dryer options in each building. The apartment is nice as well, there's enough room to have friends over after work and maintenance was quick to respond when we had any issues.

Thank you for the five stars! We are so glad that you are getting a great use of the amenities! We are also happy that our maintenance team has been such a great help! We appreciate your great feedback, and we will be sure to pass it along!Best,Launch Apartments Management
I don’t hear the road traffic or my neighbors and no one (at least in my building) is noisy. I feel safe living here, especially with the on site courtesy officer available 24/7 if there ever is an issue (though I have yet to even have a noise complaint here). The rooms here have a ton of storage space. I have a lot of clothes and I can hang a lot of them in the huge closet without the beam breaking. Maintenance has always come same day if I had a major issue like my toilet not working and the longest I have ever had to wait otherwise was maybe one day. The office staff are friendly and helpful and they are always handing out free snacks and stuff. There are lots of community events, the clubhouse and outdoor facilities like the tennis courts so there is a lot to do here and a lot of ways to get to know people. For those seeing many of the negative reviews and being scared off, just know that these apartments came under completely new management about 2 years ago. I know this because when I first moved in they were still transitioning some things over from the old Williamsburg apartment management and mentioned it to me because there was some confusion on my move in date. They have even rebranded themselves but people continue to include reviews from a while ago even though, from the looks of it, they have completely changed and for the better.

We added a dog to our family in February,mid-lease and they were super accommodating and the rent with a dog is very manageable. The dog parks are a nice touch and the river view in the morning is absolutely serene. Will definitely be staying here longer. Also the leasing staff are friendly and always have something going on(lots of free food for that broke college life)

I am a Purdue graduate student and I absolutely love the location of Launch apartments in proximity to campus. For someone who loves walking, I walk to campus every day (~15 min walk). There is also a bus across the street that goes straight to campus for those who do not like to walk. I also LOVE the proximity to Happy Hollow Park for recreation. The apartments are also a quick walk along the trail to the footbridge to Lafayette. The apartments are in a great location for driving as well. The bridge to Lafayette is right next to the apartments. The parking lot is very large and parking is free anywhere. In terms of the actual apartments - they have everything you need, as well as ample washers/dryers in each building. The maintenance team is very fast and efficient. This is one of the areas where I was most impressed with living at Launch. Every time I've submitted a maintenance request, they've responded and fixed my issue either within the same day or the next day. The Launch office staff is delightful. They are always smiling and willing to help with any issues in a pleasant manner. There is a clean gym, pool, and common area with wifi. Launch staff also organize a few events each month to give away free stuff and bring the community together, which shows that they truly care and put effort into the community. I have a nice river view and patio that I absolutely love. Upper floor apartments can come with balconies. In terms of the nearby competition, Launch has the upper hand in that that the apartments are affordable and close to campus. Anywhere else closer to campus is either more expensive for the same amenities or doesn't have that quiet privacy and space that living on the river has. I highly recommend these apartments not only for people like myself - Purdue graduate students or young professionals - but for families and undergraduate students alike. All of these reasons combined have made me decide to renew for another year!
Maintance request times take forever and they have such high turnover no one seems to know what's going on. The General Manager just hides in her little office cave like everything is fine. They have had to come back 3 times for the same mtc requests and two of them weren't completed after a month and didn't get resolved until I contacted the office. They switched the laundry process and just deactivated everyone's cards and took their money. Just very poor management practices that they can get away with because it's a college town.

Launch is a quiet community with an attentive and friendly staff. The few times I've needed them, maintenance has responded almost immediately. The gym, tan, and pool facilities in the clubhouse are a great bonus and the location can't be beat; right smack dab in the middle of the twin cities of West Lafayette / Lafayette. The complex sits right on a CityBus line so getting to and from campus is a breeze. The units have all been remodeled in the past year or so, and the new management is constantly making improvements. Launch is very pet friendly with a little dog park nearby and the views over the Wabash is perfect for when you’re out for a stroll. Would recommend.
I love living at Williamsburg on the wabash. The apartments r very nice. The people working in the office ate wonderful. Maintenance wad caked for our heat and they were there in aa mayest if min. Not only that they have an indoor pool can use ask yeast round. They have a wonderful play room with a pooltable and ping-pong. They have tanning beds. They r pet friendly. The residence there are polite and respectful I got a great deal on out two need room apt.
I love living at Williamsburg on the Wabash. The people that live there r so respectful. They seem to mind their own business. I enjoy the swimming pool. The work out room. I got s great deal on my two bedroom apt. I have a balcony. I just really enjoy living here. The office prior r very nice and was right on time with everything.
I moved into these apartments November of 2014. Do not be fooled by the model unit! The actual units look nothing like it. When I showed up on move-in day, my apartment was completely trashed. The bathtub was being used as a litter box, the kitchen counters were sticky with beer, and there was an inch of dust on everything. After speaking with management, they decided to let me live in the model unit. However, all of the fake model decorations were still mounted in the wall and I was told they would be taken down in the next week. Also, the dishwasher wasn't hooked in and the kitchen sink didn't work. This didn't get fixed until a few days after I moved in, causing me to have to wash my dishes in the shower. The fire alarms also go off in my building every other day, sometimes multiple times in a day. It is extremely unsafe because no one knows if it is a real fire or not. Sometimes, the fire alarms will go off in the middle of the night (ON SCHOOL NIGHTS) and stay on for multiple hours until they are shut off. My kitchen was also recently flooded. I came home late at night to find my upstair neighbor's leaked toilet water leaked all through my kitchen cabinets. It ruined all the food I had kept in there along with dirtied all my dishes. There was also a few inches of standing water on my counter and on my floor. All in all, this is a horrible place to live. All management cares about is getting your rent check at the end of the month. None of the employees are helpful in the leasing office, all they are trained to do is tell you to come back when management is available. Counting down the days until the end of my lease.
We moved in about a month ago and it has been the best experience we have had. We just lost our house and had to be out over that weekend and had no where to go. They were here for us and we got a really great deal with them. We are very satisfied with our choice here. :)
I can't even tell you how bad this place is. Shady and unethical are two words that come to mind. No communication or concern for anything but making $$$. Bathroom was gutted for repair and not able to use for almost a week. Still not repaired after months. Took days off of work (because of dog) for repair work but wouldn't show up. Came home one day and the apartment was covered with drywall dust and there were screws all over the floor. Went to the office and sent numerous emails but never receive any response from anyone at the office or management. Unsafe living conditions.......CHECK OUT THE GOOGLE REVIEWS FOR THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!
The apartment is really spacious and the outdoor space sets it apart from others. The clubhouse is open 24 hours and the staff is really friendly. I've lived here for over 3 years and maintenance always responds in a timely manner. On top of that I can have my cat here with me.
If you're looking for an apartment that is beneficial to a college student, this is not the apartment for you. Many inconveniences between the office employees and maintenance staff make it impossible to go any extended period of time without worrying about problems at your apartment. The staff and maintenance do not care whether you are having a great stay at the apartment but rather see you as an inconvenience while in the community. The renovation that the guaranteed would take only two weeks at max took a month and a half and this renovation took place in the most inconvenient time without any notice which ranged from finals week through Christmas and the New Year's. Save your money and time, find another place to stay. Worst apartment experience.
Williamsburg on the Wabash apartments appears great to the unsuspecting eye but after you've signed the lease, you'll start to notice the secrets behind how the apartments carries itself. On the webpage of the apartment, Williamsburg boasts that it is "newly renovated" and has "major amenities," some of which are available 24/7. As a one year lease customer, I was attracted to Williamsburg due to its location and relatively cheap price as well as the overall amenities I thought would be available all day, every day. This was not the case, most of my time spent at Williamsburg, I was unable to enjoy the fitness center or the pool as it appeared the renovation only took place within this area. The "newly renovated" apartments were just cabinets that had been poorly painted over but had not been replaced in what seemed like 50 years. During my stay, I also had the pleasure to receive zero notice that for about 2 months, I would be unable to use about half of my apartment as they ripped walls down to install a bathroom which took place of the large storage space they were excited to tell me about at first, now it was nonexistent. If you like a lot of people occasionally forcing themselves into your apartment, this is also a great place for you to stay as the maintenance and office employees do not hold back on entering your apartment without notice. During their time in your apartment if your not there and happen to show up, you'll also notice that the maintenance and office employees have no interest in keeping your apartment private as the door is left open for everyone to see in and stroll through the apartment. The maintenance and office employees rarely care to help you with your problems and it was said by the current manager that the day a person moves in, they're already looking to replace them. All in all, find any other place to stay. You'll be glad you did.
I moved in 1 month ago into one of the newly renovated buildings. The apartment looks nice but the patio is still very dated with broken bricks and weeds all over. The only huge inconvenience so far is that there are only two outlets in the apartment with a ground (allows for 3 prongs). We had to buy converters but even then it seems unsafe to put large things like TVs on un-grounded power supplies. It is very nice for a dog though and the neighborhood is nice and quiet. The club house looks nice but they said it would be open 24 hours when we moved in but still is not. So not the worst, and not the best.
