Property Ratings at Laurelwood Apartments and Townhouses
we have lived here for 7 months. I have had no issues with noise or neighbors as others have stated. It has been very quiet and peaceful so far. Price is great and location is even better. The only downfall is not much grassy area for little ones to play.
Unless you’re on the top floor or in a townhome, do not move here. Noise is TERRIBLE from upstairs neighbors. Creaking floors and zero insulation allow you to hear every single step and noise. (I write this at 12:41am because of being woken up from noisy neighbors.) Had to have an unpleasant confrontation with upstairs neighbor to get them to stop blasting music at 1am (and it was NOT the first occasion). Other tenants constantly slam their apartment and laundry room doors. Parking is terrible in certain sections - good luck finding an open spot if you have more than one person/car (only one assigned spot for our apartment). Laundry room is constantly filthy thanks to the tenants who treat the apartment building like their personal garbage (literally - people leave their garbage bags sitting in the hallway until they feel like taking them out, so the entire hallway smells like garbage). This place was fantastic for the first year or so and then things went downhill with rude tenants moving in. We’ve saved a lot of money on rent compared to other places in Cranberry, but I am counting down the days until we can move out...
I have lived here for five years. When I first moved in the property was not very well maintained but the manager assured us it was going to get better. It did get better for a while but over the last few months the maintenance has gone way down. The night time lighting is very bad and even after many complaints it is still dark around the townhomes and at the bus stop where the children have to stand to catch the school bus. We are now looking to move and will spread the word on social media (to all 5000 of my followers)not to come here.
The one positive is the location. Unfortunately, we ended up not renewing our lease due to poor conditions. The buildings are not maintained, common areas are trashed. The dumpsters are constantly over full. People have no respect for their neighbors. The other reviews we read are true regarding noise. Luckily, we are rarely home and "techie", so we just set up Noise machines to play all day into our neighbors apartment. Too much hassle to live here.
We were extremely disappointed in this community. The first few months were fine, once a new neighbor moved in, things went downhill fast. There is no insulation, so you hear everything. Our new neighbor was a night owl. We got no sleep. We read our lease & assumed we were protected. Not so. Nothing could (would) be done. Luckily we are tech savvy, so we set things up to send noise directly into the neighboring apartment. All day, all night. The neighbor learned fast nothing could be done, so they moved out.
We wanted to love it here. Decent price and location. Within one month, our apartment became a nightmare. Their is no insulation between floors. We never got a decent night sleep. Our one day off was filled with "noise battles". This community is terrible! Even though the lease clearly states you are protected against noise, there is nothing that can be done. If considering this community, don't. Plenty of places within a mile that are better.
I agree with the other reviews. The buildings have no insulation to buffer noise. It seems like they were not built to be separate apartments. I am in (essentially) a basement apartment for a townhome. The upper floors are one larger unit w/ multiple people living there. Movement all day & night. Lack of sleep, headaches, stress, etc don't make for a healthy lifestyle. Cutting lease short (after a lot of $$ to break lease) on doctor's orders. Location is only positive.
We moved in and within 2 months, our downstairs neighbor made it clear they could here everything. We are relatively quiet but my husband walks loudly and he works at home so has very strange hours. We received warnings about late night noise. When we are simply living our lives, which are night time hours! Only here for a short term. Badly built property.
Problems with noise from Day 1. We moved in b/c the rent, the location, and the updated appliances. We moved out only three months later. We should have read the reviews. Lesson learned. Horrible living conditions. No sleep b/c your neighbors keep waking you up. Don't try to complain b/c no one can do anything. Then, people retaliate, and you are in a living nightmare.
Everything was great for one month. Upstairs neighbors became a big issue. Normal noise was expected, as this community was not originally built for one bedroom apartments. It was only townhomes. We didn't realize that they added no insulation when they broke it down into one bedroom apartments. We hear EVERYTHING! Our biggest issue was late night noise. We were woken up regularly, which led us to break our lease. Luckily, due to extreme conditions, there is no penalty.
The noise from your neighbors is absolutely terrible. All hours of the night. Your walls, ceilings and floors shake, but nothing can be done. There are clear quiet hours, both in the Township and community, but nothing is actually done to violators, no accountability. Broke the lease for privacy & peace.
There is no privacy. We have lived in apartments before, none like here. From day one, we realized our mistake. We could hear EVERYTHING from all the surrounding apartments. The worst was below us. Music, TV, conversations, etc. Came directly into our apartment through the vents. Absolutely terrible.
Nothing but problems with our neighbors. Late night noise constantly. The office has no control & was unwilling to help us. To make matters worse, we were targeted by our neighbors. The office told them exactly who complained, what exactly we were upset about and they retaliated. It became unsafe and we were forced to break our lease.
We began having problems with our neighbors not long after moving in. It all started with horrible noise problems at very late hours. Made the mistake of complaining. Office is unable to do anything. Things escalated quickly and it became a game of who could outlast the other. Too much for renting. We cut our lease short & found a place much better (more safe) close by.
We decided to ignore the reviews.....Big Mistake! After three weeks, we began losing sleep due to our neighbors. They made constant noise from 10pm - 7am. We thought it was a joke, no one can make noise for 9 hrs straight. We had to file a complaint. Our lease stated quiet hours would be upheld. Not true. We were forced out.
Lots of small problems, from bugs to broken appliances. Most important & the deal breaker was the amount of noise we had to suffer every night. Our neighbors were extremely loud. From their running around in circles to yelling at each other. It became so uncomfortable we decided to complain. This only escalated things & it began unspeakable retaliation. We terminated our lease.
Husband here for 1 - 2 yr job. Chose this Community for price and location. No issues for first two months, new neighbors moved in and everything went down hill very quickly. Normal noise didn't bother, but these folks made horrible noise between 10pm - 8am. We were assured this was a violation of quiet hours. Once as complaint was filed, nothing was done. Seemed to us the office held no authority. They also spoke to these neighbors specifically about us, so we were now targeted. Horrible, stressful months followed until we could get out of our lease.
Everything about this community seemed positive, until we began the tour/application process. We were shocked at the lack of cleanliness of interior buildings. We make sure to look at apartments when other tenants are home, to be sure of soundproofing. This community has poor construction. The apartment we toured literally shook with noise. Immediately removed this community from our list.
The reviews regarding noise are true. We lucked out in being tech savvy & have shared easy (low cost) ways to fight back w/ our neighbors who have to deal with the disrespectful tenants here. We set up speakers and remote control audik equipment. When we are not even home, our rude neighbors can listen to annoying noises being replayed at nauseating volumes. The rare times we are actually home, they stay quiet. Fight back!
Not long after moving in, began having multiple problems with neighbors. Began with noise late into the night. We let office know about the time of noise. Days after, they began making even more noise & it was constant from 11pm - 3am. Each time a complaint was made, they were allowed to get louder & small, ridiculous sabotage to vehicles, porch, parking spot, etc.
We lived here for only 3 months. The neighbors made so much noise! It was not "normal apartment living". We contacted management to ask if quiet hours could be upheld. Big mistake. Our neighbors retaliated & things escalated quickly. We were forced out. Very disappointed in this community.
We were very happy to find a place so close to everything and quiet & safe. This community is NOT. First few months were fine, but new neighbors moved in and things went bad fast. The walls, ceilings and floors are not built to buffer any sound. We had no quiet anymore. The new neighbors seemed to be up & active 24/7. We attempted to fight back with our own noise, but it just made everything worse. Broke lease. Terrible environment.
Single parent, moved in to community b/c of cost & proximity to schools. After one month, we had so many problems with noise from our neighbors, at very late hours. I spoke to office, but they couldn't help. Took it upon myself to play defense & set up white noise machines. The neighbors got so much worse. They vandalized my car! Luckily the police are right across the street. Not a safe environment for kids.
Things started twoo months into the lease. Neighbors above were loud walkers, but it became a consistent problem between the hours of 10pm - 3am. They began pacing ( we think). Every night. Reached out to inform Management of the quiet hours being disrupted. Management told neighbors, which began a swift retaliation. They became worse. We are forced to move out due to fear of personal property damage.
Currently looking for short term lease in Cranberry Community. Spoke with two different renters in Laurelwood. Not an option on our list anymore. Both told us of a constant battle agsinst rude, noisy neighbors. The stories are shocking. One tenant runs "white noise" machines 24/7, even when not at home. Seems absolutely terrible living conditions.
Single parent, looking for a community to raise my child. This community is NOT the place. We were here just over one month when the noise from our neighbors became unbearable. The celing & walls would reverberate from their every movement. This was 24/7. I reached out to the office to see if this was "the norm", seems it was. No sound buffers in construction. The neighbors must have been contacted because they retaliated at specific late hours. Horrifying. Moving out asap.
Should have researched the reviews. Single parent, we didn't last one month w/ any privacy or peace and quiet. The floors, walls reverberate with every move your neighbors make. There was no time when it was quiet. A terrible place to raise a child. I reached out to find out if it was just our apartment, it was not. The entire community has the same problem.
Realized very quickly that there is no insulation between apartments. Could hear everything the neighbor did. From television & stereo, to conversations & bathroom activities. Made life extremely uncomfortable. Sent a letter to office concerning this, but nothing can be done. Can't change the way the community is built. Will not be renewing lease, need my privacy.
After two months, we were already tired of hearing everything from our neighbors. Hearing them in the bathroom sent us over the edge. There is NO privacy. Don't move here, no matter what you think, it's 100% worse.
We are shocked at how much noise travels between apartments. Toured the community & the apartment we were able to see, was so loud! We could here neighbors above (the most) but also next door. No thank you. We prefer privacy.
This community is extremely loud. Not only from outside, but more, from inside. You can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors do. Spent too much money on stereo equipment, soundproofing panels, sleep aides. Nothing helped. We filed a complaint, our neighbors retaliated by getting louder and 24/7. So now, we set up sensors & speakers to run loud noises while we are not even home. We will move out when our lease is up, but for now, we just play the game.
I am a single working mother and absolutely shocked at the noise volumes from surrounding apartments. No respect for late hours. Terrible community to raise a child. I am forced to break a lease & move again after a few months. Extremely disappointed.
We are potential residents, but after visiting and touring an apartment, we are disappointed in this community. The walls, ceilings and floors have no insulation. We could hear everything going on in other apartments. Shocking. We've never encountered this before. Moving on.
Problems with 'passerbys'. Have had multiple peeping tom issues. No thank you. At least they are required to tell this to incoming prospective renters.
Shocked by lack of insulation. I can hear neighbors movements, like they are in my apartment! I was told, when I filed a complaint, that the noise wouldn't last. Wrong! My neighbors decided to retaliate, they also began watching my coming & going and complained about me. Very petty & uncomfortable. Currently looking at near places so I csn break my lease. Would like to feel safe where I live.
We currently live here, but are moving as soon as we can. Our neighbors began making lots of noise, as soon as we moved in. Lots of late night/early morning stomping around. They also yell at one another. Very uncomfortable. We let the office know about the late hours & explained how stressful the situation was. Unfortunately, the neighbors began getting louder. We cannot handle this environment much longer.
The construction is terrible. You can hear every detail of your neighbors. It is horrible hearing your neighbors in the bathroom! Our neighbors also make noise long into the morning. We made a complaint, due to 'quiet hours', but our neighbors retaliated against us. Moving out asap, I no longer feel safe.
We recently moved out due to noise our neighbors made at all hours. Due to poor construction, lack of insulation, we were constantly hearing reverberation through the ceiling. Every single step they made, we heard and felt. Very late at night so we complained. Our neighbors then retaliated. It became too stressful to handle. We moved to a great place just down the road.
Disgusted by the amount of noise in this community. Did not feel safe making any kind of complaint or attempting to make our own noise to 'drown out' neighbors. Just awful.
We moved in w/o reading reviews. We should never have moved here. Shortly after we moved in, we realized we could clearly hear our downstairs neighbor. Tv, radio, conversations & bathroom. Shocked that there is NO insulation. Not renewing our lease. Might get out early due to how bad it is
Have lived in apartments for 10 years & have never had so many problems. The main problem, that makes this community un-livable, is the noise. You can hear every move your neighbors make. From cooking dinner, to working out, to using the bathroom. Caused headaches from the lack of sleep and stress. Terrible place to live.
Spent all of my time fighting a 'who can be louder' battle with my neighbors. Could never have company over & spent nights sleeping at friends houses, just to sleep. Management told me my neighbors were a nice couple.....Who ran their vacuum 24/7, turned their stereo on highest volume, and stomped around in circles. The money spent on sleep meds, ear plugs, soundproofing tiles is not worth it. Breaking the lease was more economical.
We had nothing but problems with noise from our neighbors. We spoke up to Management and things got worse. The neighbors became unbearable. We no longer felt safe and we were forced to move out. Horrible experience.
This community is absolutely terrible. I was told I had a 'nice older couple' as my neighbors. Not sure what scale was used, but I ended up moving out b/c they made noise morning, noon and night. I complained & they became worse! Horrible living conditions.
We were shocked w/ the lack of insulation or carpet padding (specifically between apartment floors). We could here our neighbors television clearly. Have to mention the clarity of bathroom use - disgusting! We had no peace & quiet except if our neighbors were on vacation. Believe the reviews on this community. There are better options
These buildings were not built for the housing structure it is. I lived in a one bedroom underneath a townhome. I had to put up with the noises from above all day and night. I think it was a family of four. The kids weren't even the loudest. The adults kept late hours and screamed a lot. Luckily, my job allowed me to break my lease. Noise is just too much, making this place not livable.
We found we could hear our neighbors every movement and conversation. Thought it wouldn't bother us during the daytime, it did! Never having a moment of privacy was too difficult. We did not renew our lease.
Unfortunately the only positive is location. The noise between apartments is absolutely terrible. There is no subfloor or even carpet pad. We could here everything from above us. Shocked that we could hear normal volume conversations! If you want anytime to yourself, do NOT live here.
I know this apartments since 2010, and staying since 2 years. Excellent service, management and Great worth for money. Very close to most of the famous shopping.
The noise makes this community un-livable. You can hear everything through vents, walls, ceilings and floors. We complained about an on going noise problem into the night/morning. Nothing was done. Management tried to blame us! Don't waste your time & money.
