A mere six miles east of Huntsville, University/Research Park hosts one of the world's leading science and technology business parks. Central to the area's economy, Cummings Research Park brings together Fortune 500 companies and U.S. space and defense agencies with the best and brightest from local universities to create a premier center for research and technology. Townhomes and condos form the bulk of the rentals, meaning there’s something for families, students, and professionals alike.
This area has become a research hub for both government agencies such as NASA as well as private corporations including Lockheed and IBM. The abundance of research jobs in addition to the local educational institutions created the need for housing to accommodate the workers, students, and educators.

Property Ratings at Laurelwood
There's no insulation between floors so I hear every footstep and creaking floorboard from the 2nd floor appartment. Also the painters are sloppy so there's paint splattered on everything.
It is poor because it has LOTS of bugs. And I mean LOTS every time we try and call the pest control all they do is spray around. But the bugs COME BACK! That is why I have made a choice to move out sometime around in the next coming months November or something or next year in February. 9-18-2020 Senait Jira
Really isn’t a bad place. Rent is low, so don’t expect anything fancy. I lived here from 2013-2015 while attending UAH. This complex was built in the early 80’s and it shows it’s age, but this also means that the trees are mature which was nice. 2 bedroom units have a roommate floor plan with bedrooms at opposite sides of the apartment with separate bathrooms which was a big selling point for me. These apartments are within easy walking distance to UAH, which was great because I didn’t have to purchase an expensive parking permit. The countertops in my unit were redone before I moved in, which isn’t reflected in the current picture. Appliances weren’t fancy, but they were clean and always worked. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. During hot weather it just couldn’t keep up which meant it would top out at about 80 degrees in the apartment during the heat of summer. But when rent is that low, it wasn’t a big deal. It should be noted that I had an upstairs unit that got the brunt of the afternoon sun. Pest control came by a couple of times to spray for bugs, which usually worked but there was the occasional roach that made its way inside. Honestly, this is probably going to be the same story at most complexes in this area/price. One area that Laurelwood really shined in was their dumpsters. I know, that’s probably not a category that really stands out, but the dumpsters were emptied every couple of days rather than just once a week, so there were never overflowing dumpsters. I never felt unsafe in the complex. My roommate did have some money stolen from his car, but he did leave his windows down… I mean… what do you expect? Be smart. Management was always kind and helpful, and Kelly seemed to take a genuine interest in how life was going for you. I never had any serious maintenance issues, but the two times that I did have issues they were fixed the same day. All-in-all, it’s a pretty good place to live for the price. It’s a good choice for students looking for an apartment near UAH.
I have been here since 2010 and I have not had any problems. My rent is not raised every time I turn around and the ladies in the office are nice and helpful. Maintenance is quick and on time. I like the fact that I am close to the places I need. I can get to my job on Redstone in about 10 minutes.
We Moved In On A Special and The Price Is Decent. The Location Is Not The Best But My Neighbors Are Great And The Best Part, ITS QUIET !!!
