Property Ratings at Legacy of Athens
I lived here for approximately 1.5 years and have both pros and cons. Pros- the pool was one of my favorite parts living at Legacy, except for family parties, it never was too crowded and well maintained. The maintenance guys were pretty nice, they would switch out light bulbs for me and were generally quick to respond and helpful. Overall, this apartment was better compared to previous places I lived on the East side and I enjoyed living by myself there. Cons- The worst issue I had though was with pests- for a while I could hear something moving in my wall. I assumed it was a mouse or squirrel, but I never saw it in my actual apartment so I ignored it, until it died. For a few weeks there was a decaying smell coming from a vent that went into my bedroom and then literally hundreds of flies appeared. I would vacuum them up everyday and had fly traps everywhere, but it was literally like a horror movie. I went to the office to show the employees pictures of all the flies and maintenance came, but they didn't really do anything besides look in a vent or 2. The other con I have is with the cost of living there. The complex switched ownership before I renewed my lease and there was a significant increase in rent with the owners not honoring the previous price. I saw that they were increasing rent again, so I am glad I found another place to live because I was worried they would not honor that rent price again. Overall, I generally enjoyed living at Legacy but I personally think the rent price (1 bedroom apt) is too high for what you are getting.
Always one excuse after another concerning money. Mismanaged all the way down. Patch work repairs and poorly equipped staff. Rent changes more often then you can keep up with. You will never get the truth from anyone in the office. They can't keep a maintenance staff or office personal. That changes about twice a year at least. Run, run, run.
Iam sure The Run For the Holls comment was said by someone whom used to work here in 2019 because they are absolutely wrong! Wrong i tell you. Thats a wrong way of showing appreciation for working in Legacy of Athens for years just because New Nanagement replaces. We all seen large sign ny street then. Listen. We have no complaints here. Its is a very nice, pleasant ,peaceful Legacy of Athens apartments to bring up your children/ famy. Schools are walking distance. Im from New York. People are much nicer here. We love it absolutely. So as i said do not pay heed, do not listen to Run For the Hills person please. Theyre absolutely wrong and just upset with their life. We all have to move on from work sometimes. Both groups of Staffs then and now are superb. Yes. Iam living here- we are still.
I'm the sure the review above was made by someone staffed with the company, property or leasing manager perhaps. Let's be REAL, I know that everyone needs a job and a great place to stay nowadays. We all fall on short times and require individuals such as; landlords to reason with the situation. Nevertheless, the entire staff seems like they all got their jobs just by luck instead of any formal education, like business management. A person that can't relate to someone situation wont be able to reason with their life challenging situations that might occur. Long story short, these people are beyond unprofessional, not trustworthy or honesty. I can't believe someone would actually put their names behind this place and then have the audacity to call it "The Legacy of Athens". In my opinion, the only thing legendary about this place is the age of the roaches and the poor plumbing. By the way, this is a REAL REVIEW, nothing made up, Also, if the staff feels like you maybe just a tad bit smarter than them, they'll definitely find a way to sabotage you or better yet not sympathize with you at all during hard times. I've noticed they recently changed ownership, I'm not surprised being that they probably face so many law suits. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND THE HALF TRAINED STAFF, THIS INCLUDES EVERYBODY EMPLOYED WITH THE LEGACY OF ATHENS.
Awesome residents. A great place with friendly staff. Residents here make you want to come to work.
Legacy of Athens (owned/managed by Hawthorn) has been a positive housing experience. The apartments are spacious, the neighbors mostly quite (but range from party college students to families and older residents), and while the rent is a little high for the area it is safe (close to the police station). However, there are a few problems with bugs (a few roaches and weird little centipede things) that the pest control service doesn't really take care of, and in the winter and summer the buildings are either cold/hot OR the power bill high since the ways are a thin (and breezy, there are gaps beneath all my doors). Compared to some of the other places in athens these apartments are much bigger and the double closets in the master bedroom are nice, but even with the updates you can tell it's not exactly new (they painted the bathtub/shower and while it looked nice for a month, it's been chipping off ever since). If you have an issue with the apartment and it isn't an ''emergency" they are slow to fix it, but if you tell them it's an emergency usually it's fixed that same day (examples: clogged bathtub, AC broken, etc.), little things can be a while. Overall I would recommend this apartment complex.
