Property Ratings at Legacy of Dalton Apartments
I have nothing but great things to say about my experience while living here. The two ladies up front Roxanne and Rachael ALWAYS go out of their way to make sure everything is taken care of and in a timely manner. They are super respectful and kind. Austin in maintenance is fabulous and get things done in a timely manner.
The apartment manager has made it IMPOSSIBLE for my family to lease an apartment here. I have lived at this complex 3 different times, twice with my parents and once with my spouse before we bought our home. Not one time was I ever required to give my information for a credit check because I was only listed as an occupant and not as the person leasing the apartment. My husband was told today by the property manager “I’m not trying to be rude but she can’t live here”(which is actually extremely rude) because I will not give my information to run a credit check when I am not the leasing party living in the apartment and when asked to call her boss to see if I needed my credit ran as an occupant her answer was “I don’t do that for everyone so I’m not doing it for you.” We had spoken to someone at a complex owned by the same company and was told that as an occupant I wouldn’t have to give my information for a credit check and when told that the property managers response was “I don’t run that complex, I run this one.” Although they are both run by the same company and should both have the same policies. She also advised me that I should look into something privately owned because “they don’t care about this stuff, they just want your money” and I can find something like that with “a quick google search.” I’m not sure if this is due to inadequate training, because as I am asking questions her response to several questions was “I don’t know” (mind you she refused to call anyone to find out what she didn’t know because “she doesn’t do that for everyone”) or if this is due to her just not wanting my family to lease an apartment there but I feel like this is not how a previous tenant of multiple years should be treated when trying to return. Although she refused to call the company to ask for guidance, I used her quick google search advice and called the company myself
Great Apartments! Great Customer service. Recommend
When i first moved in one of the showers didn’t have a shower head, one bathroom had a major sink leak, and there were cracks all throughout the apartment (walls floor boards etc). I was not allowed to view the apartment until i paid my security deposit. It takes months to get a maintenance issue fixed only if they feel like fixing it. Some of the issues get fixed some don’t. Everything here breaks so easily but they are not quick to fix even though the rent is so high. And they have a big spider issue. Only come if you absolutely have to. The rooms are pretty big, good parking, and good place to walk around at. Walls are thin though. Heard my neighbor’s arguing word for word.
They change management here every year since I moved in. I've had problems with the a/c unit and I'm currently without and heard there are several apartments waiting to be repaired. Rent goes up 50+ yearly without any upgrades made Be Aware
When we moved in the carpet was filthy, the bathrooms were not clean. Some maintenance issues were addressed, some weren't. We put in a request for a new bulb in the refrigerator, we ended up waiting months before we just gave up and bought our own bulb. The sink sprayer broke, they never replaced it. To top it off, they kept half of our security deposit because I was three days late when giving the written intent to vacate at the end of the lease. That was $1205 of $2410.
At first the apartment seemed ok. They’re very big and in a pretty good location. We had a “renovated” unit with vinyl floors instead of carpet which I really liked. However, about a week into living there water starting leaking from the second bathroom piping under the sink. I called the front office everyday for about a week until I finally got ahold of someone. I told them we needed maintenance immediately because at that point water had leaked underneath the floor in the dining area, the master closet (which had carpet floors) and bathroom, the second bedroom (also carpet) and there was atleast an inch of water covering the entire second bathroom floor. They didn’t come for another week until finally we threatened to not pay rent the next month until it was fixed because we were living literally in water, and at that point the wet carpet started to stink and mold had started to grow where the floorboards had been ruined by the water. The maintenance man was really nice, but he’s clearly overworked and overwhelmed. They had to completely bust up the under part of the sink, promising that they would fix it within the week. A whole year later when we were finally able to move out it still was demolished underneath. They never replaced it, never addressed the issue, and eventually stopped answering our calls about it or hung up on us when we called. The AC broke ALL the time and they would take days to fix it, keep in mind we moved in at the beginning of summer. When the time came to move out I gave them the 90 day notice required- and they informed us that we had to stay a month longer than we had planned because we signed a 13-month lease. I know for a fact we didn’t and I’ve never even heard of a 13 month lease. Then, to top it all off, 3 months after we moved out we received a call from a creditor stating that a charge of $750 from Legacy would go on our credit report because we owed them money for things they had to fix in the apartment after we moved out, despite the fact that the floors had been ruined by water that they refused to fix for weeks. Honestly I didn’t have the energy to argue at that point. We would have paid the money but we did not receive a single phone call or email for 3 months. They just sent the bill to the creditor without telling us we owed anything. Moral of the story- living there was a nightmare. If you can find literally anywhere else I’d recommend that over legacy.
Staff is super friendly. Maintenance takes good care of our community in good timely manner! Love this place!
Bad plumbing. Always a leak somewhere. Occasional sewer line blockage because they thought it was a good idea to plant trees on top of them. Air conditioning problems...instead of having a professional look for the slow freon leak they rather have you go to the office to request a freon refill every 2 weeks all summer long. Rent is way too high for the problems you have to deal with. They only have two maintenance guys who do great and work hard but they can't keep up with all the leaks and issues.
Water Conservation has began. Water pressure has been reduced where there isn’t enough water pressure to rinse your hair when shampooing or to rinse soap off in the shower. Time to move. Rent goes up $50 every 6 months. Management doesn’t care!
This complex is substantially poor to its tenants; as most issues are met with band aid and duct tape treatment. Not to mention, the lease is pretty much theft. There are better places to live in Dalton this poorly managed establishment.
Do not move here it's a terrible place to live!!!!!! I had a longer review but it would let me post but cats are terrible will spray your belongings cat urine smell comes into apartment dumpster divers nightly people who don't live here dumping trash and filling up dumpsters ppl feeds cats which keep them around pet policy a joke pets over 30lbs are everywhere 80 plus lbs grill on every floor on balconies no short term leases they told us only 12 month. The lease agreement is a joke and all lies. Maintenance reports say work order complete when it's not. I could go on but this place is a nightmare.
If you live in a bottom apartment you will be dealing with several water leaks and sewer back ups a year. If you have too many issues the maint. dept. will put in a "work order complete" without even showing up to fix it. Do not recommend unless you are moving into a top apartment. The worse and most stressful place I have ever lived. Also beware of college kids moving in above you if you choose a bottom apartment. They don't care how much noise they make.
