Property Ratings at Lexington Village
The place is extremely dated and maintains never shows when called and when the do they never complete the job. The crawl spaces under the apartments are filled with all manner of Rodents and Bugs not to mention Sewage leaks. The pool hasn't been open since Covid and likely never will because the owner doesn't want to pay to fix it and maintain it.
This Complex over charges, raises rent $60 a year, the maintenance is horrible and only responds right away if there’s a water issue if not you have a 50/50 chance of them showing up, they have mice and dont do anything about it besides put useless traps down that dont work, the tenants have changed tremendously since moving here 3 years ago, kids run round the complex/parking lot screaming, people play loud music in the parking lot, the apartments are dated, the heat has ONE setting which is hell hot, they ONLY care about money, management will NOT respond to any concerns or issues you have UNLESS it pertains to money, they literally let anyone move in INCLUDING addicts, They say there's a weight limit of 25 pounds for dogs but they have every breed here and some people can not control their pets, the laundry rooms are terrible with only half the Machines working and the laundry rooms all smell like mildew. This has been literally one of the WORST renting experiences i have ever had. If clark had projects this would be the equivalent to it. It is not safe as the demographics of tenants have changed. They do not care about their tenants or their safety or the actual apartments. DO NOT MOVE HERE. It is a complete rip off
Please do not move here. The super stinks. The property doesn't allow commercial vehicles but the new super allows it. No parking spaces, they claim to have a car policy but they don't. Nothing has been replaced. Pleases spend ur $$ elsewhere.
Hope you like living in a dilapidated time capsule. The landlord has not put a dime back into these buildings in 30 years and it shows. The smell of backed up sewage is normal during the winter, squirrels run around in the ceilings, the AC wall units are the cheapest on the market, no dishwasher, and your drapes will blow in the breeze from the original drafty windows. If you don't trust me, please take a look at the apartments in person before you commit, photos online are a lie. Don't let the pool fool you either, $300 for a seasonal pool pass. And don't accidentally miss a month's rent, forget about the $50 late fee, you'll be served official Union County court papers within 10 days of the new month for a first offense. I warned you.
For starters maintenance NEVER shows up when you call, if they do show up they do only do half the job and say they will come back but never do. They are horrible at communicating, once they shut the hot water off for 3 DAYS and didn't bother notifying the tenants. When i called the hotline they had no Estimate of when it would be fixed and would not tell why the water was off. The management office is full of nothing but money hungry people that raise the rent extremely high every year and do not care that tenants needs are not being met. The apartments are out dated and infested with centipedes and roaches. They charge for every little thing, even if you get locked out they wont open your door for you unless you pay them $10. ridiculous, trashy, over priced. DO NOT MOVE HERE.
The place is spacious and the parking isn't problematic which is nice. When I first moved in maintenance was attentive . Unfortunately, the last two times that I've had issues they've been a "no show." I've had to get other people to do the job. Also, they leave the windows in the basement open (not sure what they're doing there ), but rodents would be more than happy to "stop by." If you're like me and you're scared of them, don't move here . Otherwise. I'd say go for it. Expect to do things yourself if you need repairs...after a few months , you may not see maintenance again.
Cheapest around but that is because they haven't updated anything since 1960. The super and his team know nothing or do nothing unless you call 3 or more times. A lazy unorganized crew with a lack of true building knowledge all around. So yay for cheap and boo for everything else!
This place is ideal for anyone and is great for the price. I'm not sure if this previous reviewer is talking about Lexington hill apartments but then again we all look for different things when searching for a place to live. We moved in here in October 2015 and rented the one bedroom apartment for my husband and I and our now 14 month old daughter. The space is great and there are tons of things you could do with it. We placed a crib and a queen bed in the bedroom and we still have space for other things. The Kitchen area is spacious and you can create your dining space with your furniture. You only need to buy a microwave, everything else is provided. If you live on the 2nd floor you have to get carpeting so that the noise doesn't bother your neighbors downstairs. We got an 8 by 10 rug for the living room since we stay there more often and that's all we needed. The maintenance is very helpful and straightforward. Once we call to report an issue someone always responds the same day. We haven't had any issues with the staff either, since our questions or complaints always get answered to satisfaction. The neighborhood is quiet and the only noise you might hear are from cars passing by or your own neighbors but for the most part we haven't seen or heard any lousy neighbors. There is literally everything you need within walking distance - bus transportation, grocery shopping, dentist office, medical office, gym, shopping mall which is pretty convenient. Extensive parking is available, if not in your own building area, then in the next building area or on the street and its not dangerous as some places are. You can see Clark police doing patrols so security is great as well. I am just being an honest reviewer and not looking for free rent like this previous reviewer mentioned although it would be nice. One experience shouldn't tarnish all the positives the place has. Definitely served as an eye catcher for us from all the places within our budget and within Essex and Union counties we searched for.
This place is a far cry from modern or luxurious living like you see them advertised. It's more basic living starting off no frills type of place. We lived in a one bedroom apartment with no dishwasher laundry or dryer or any other amenities that would be luxurious or modern. When you have to deal with office staff they are generally pretty miserable and unhelpful. Ash's starter place this place might be just OK for a year but not a long term situation. One of the only reasons a lot of people do live here is because they have a one dog pet policy which most people are in violation of having larger or multiple pets. However the location is very ideal for conveniences such as supermarkets & shopping. Don't be skewed by some of these reviews they ask for good reviews for a contest for free rent for a year.
As a tenant of Lexington village for over nine years, I will be completely honest. The pros (which are many): very nice town /neighborhood with walkability that rivals nearby cities. I can walk to post office. Bank. Doctors office. Dentist office. Pharmacy. Supermarket . And a variety of shopping all within stones throw. The garden state parkway is literally 40 seconds by car. Perfect for commuters going to NYC. Or jersey city /Newark area. The complex is very quiet with ample parking 24/7. The pool is nice and always clean. The grounds are well-kept. Annual rent increases are minimal. This complex is perfect for singles. Or Newly married couples. Or roommates (the 2 bedroom units) . The biggest pro is the area of Clark and all the amenities and proximity to both NYC and the jersey shore.. The cons (very few): mild plumbing issues and a/c unit issues which are fixed immediately contacting maintenance 800 number . Which responds to all complaints. I would recommend renting here to all .
Excellent apartments in a friendly community. Pet friendly- no fees or monthly payment for pets. Clean and timely maintenance crew. Laundry facilities on the premises. Small playground for kids, tennis court and swimming pool facilities on the premises. Close to garden state parkway - 5mins. 3 to 5 small mall nearby and 3 supermarkets very close. Close to Clark recreation center, high school, golf course and fields for the kids to play.
I live in a one bedroom apartment with my son. I also have one bathroom, one kitchen, and one living-room. I like the neighborhood that I live in, good parking lot,I love the school system for my son. I live here so I can get to work easier. I also have great maintenance when needed.
It's a great location to be in North Jersey! Close to the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike. Short drive to 3 different NJTransit train stations for a quick trip (only 45mins) into NY Penn Station. Well maintained especially during the winter months - you don't have to wait long for the sidewalks to be shoveled and parking lot to be cleared. Yes, there is a parking lot free of charge!
This community is old but it is maintained as well as it can be. I feel safe here and after 3 years here I haven't had any issues with any neighbors. The only thing I would recommend would be to include the pool free for residents. We already pay rent here let us have this little added benefit included in the rent we already pay or if we pay for it at least renovate the area, new chairs/loungers and bathroom area. Finally after 3 years they opened the basketball/tennis court, good job. All in all this unit is better priced than what I've seen locally and is close to the bus and shopping. So convenient.
Heat and Hot Water included in this complex situated in great town and close to everything (shopping, parkway, highways)! Pet friendly environment , great neighbors, off street parking and a pool! I've been here for 5 years!
It is a very nice starter community. The area is quiet but is located only a few blocks from major shopping centers. The grounds are maintained well and the overall complex is friendly and a good place to begin your journey through life.
as long as i lived here i enjoyed it the neighborh were very friendy no noise clean and i feed safe.
After leaving my last rental apartment due to an incompetent/lazy maintenance staff (2 months in the summer before a broken AC was replaced, and it was the only one in the apartment!), I've found Lexington village is a great place to live. The apartment is conveniently located, neighbors are friendly if sometimes noisy, and the apartments are nice and clean. On friday, my fridge broke, and I called maintenance. They immediately assured me they'd replace the fridge. Sure enough, monday morning they arrived with a new fridge, no questions asked, and helped me in cleaning out the dead food from the old one. I'm definitely very happy with the response. Office staff aren't quite as good- they were supposed to call me friday to confirm they'd gotten the call and did not- but overall I'm very happy.
Nice place. The apartments are pretty clean and nice, noisy neighbors but that's to be expected in any apartment. The one thing I'm finding really frustrating, though, is maintenance. If you call them, they'll show up in less than 20 minutes... But they never actually accomplish anything. I'd have one appliance in my home checked over by maintenance 3 times now, each time agreeing it was not functioning correctly. I was promised a replacement and that has yet to happen. Basically, this is a super nice place and very clean/large for what you pay but if anything breaks, you're stuck with it, because they will not repair or replace it! If you don't really care about appliances- fridge, AC, etc- this isn't a big deal. If you do, probably look elsewhere.
The location itself is a nice little area. It's safe and the noise is usually quite minimal. Overall I wouldn't tell people not to check this out but I would give them some warnings. 1) Maintenance requires several phone calls and persistence to get anything done. Any time I've had an issue it's taken at least a week of phone calls to get anyone to get back to me. 2) Office staff, this is more a reflection on the owner then the staff. There is a very clear lack of caring. They recently repaved some parking lots, it was real fun to come home and find with no notice you have no place to park since street parking (where applicable) is limited. When they do inspections they will give you notice for certain days and then come in on different days without any notice of change. It's clear the attitude is, if you don't like it, leave. Thankfully you will not have constant issues and maybe these annoyances are minor to you, then this place is great. But if you like to feel like years of living somewhere makes you a valued tenant, your concerns will be addressed promptly, or simply that you are more then a check in the mail....look elsewhere. They really only do what they absolutely have to.
Property Manager at Lexington Village, Responded To This Review
I've found that maintenance has gotten better lately. When I first moved in, it took me a million calls to get anything done, too. This last week, my fridge went out, and after one call they ordered a replacement, which I got first thing today as soon as the weekend ended (I had called them around 4 PM on friday). I definitely feel you on the office staff, though. The few times I've had to go in to the office, they've been miserable.
Lexington Village is lovely, and ideally located. There is a problem with a select number of the newer tenants. Frequent late night parties with excessive noise, infringing on the privacy of others, and compelling others to inhale their cigarette smoke and fumes from their charcoal grills is an ongoing problem. Additionally, dogs are off leash, and some tenants adorn the grounds with their dog's feces.People don't adhere to the rules established by the management, and become indignant when someone calls them on it.
