Meadowmont sits on an estate once owned by the DuBose family. Their family home, built in 1933, is still in the neighborhood and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house belongs to the university and is used for special events. Meadowmont Village is the neighborhood's main shopping venue, home to a Harris Teeter grocery store as well as restaurants, banks, and shops.

Property Ratings at Link Apartments® Calyx
Beautiful new building but so much is broken here. Plumbing, fire alarms, doors, sensors, you can't even get the garbage out and collected routinely here. Vastly overpriced for this. Delightful staff, but nothing gets resolved, in part because these are builder issues. 90% UNC students here. I hope their families don't mail them packages- 50/50 odds of getting to recipient. I am afraid to leave my dog and go anywhere- incessant fire drills.

When I first saw the listing for the new Link Apartments Calyx in Chapel Hill, NC, I didn't hesitate. It has everything I wanted, elevator, parking & small building just 305 units. I gave Link Calyx Apartments a great review. But that was before the extensive damages in my 'NEW APARTMENT' became a HUGE PROBLEM. As luck would have it...my apartment ended up being ground zero with all the problems. The refrigerators' ice machine wasn't working, the dish washer wasn't drying the dishes & smelled moldy. Both applicances needed to be replaced. Then the worst thing happened..the apartment above shower had a crack in the pipe, and when my neighbor took a shower my bathroom ceiling was leaking water through the exhaust/light ceiling fixture. I reported ALL these issues right away during my apartment inspection back in May. After finding out that several false work orders were submitted by their maintenance staff that the problem'S' were completed. I was DISGUSTED by the neglect. The neighbor above me... bathroom was repaired IMMEDIATELY within a few days. But, Grubb Properties/Link Calyx Apartments maintenance and Samet Construction Company staff decided that there was 'NO NEED TO INSPECT MY APARTMENT'S DAMAGES'. REALLY? How incompetent can you be? At first, I wanted to switch to the same type of apartment, but Grubb Properties/Link Calyx Apartments 'REFUSED' to switch my apartment for the same rate. This is what they told me, and I quote; 'You would not be paying market rent while staying in the temporary apartment. You would only pay market rent if after the repair is completed, you chose to make that apartment your permanent residence, not moving back to the original apartment." I REFUSED to ACCEPT THOSE TERMS & CONDITIONS & PAY MORE. I DID NOT CAUSE THESE DAMAGES. SO, WHY SHOULD I BE PENALIZED & INCONVENIENCE? What pissed me off the most is how Grubb Properties/Link Apartments Calyx dangled my return date back HOME into my NEW APARTMENT. First I'm told 3 days, then I'm told that Samet Construction Company needed more time. It DOES NOT take a month to replace and repair a bathroom, so I 'SUSPECTED that 'MOLD' had probably built up in the bathroom's walls. Unfortunately, I can't see or smell mold until it spreads and bleeds through the walls & floor. Now, I'll have to seek medical care and get tested. So, I advise future residents to take time and thoroughly inspect your 'NEW HOME'. And, REPORT ALL ABNORMALITIES IMMEDIATELY TO THE LEASING REPRESENTATIVES.
