Property Ratings at Lloyd Apartments
This place is affordable, but other than that this is not the best place to live. I've had nothing but problem after problem since moving here. Walls are thin and neighbors are noisy. People will have loud parties where they blast the same three songs from early morning until late at night, with their friends drunkenly loitering in the apartment hallways at night. People smoke in the building and the stench wafts into my unit. There are designated days where trash is collected from outside of people's doors, but people will leave their trash sitting out all day every day. The custodian does a great job cleaning the hallways, but hours later all sorts of trash and dirt will be back. During the height of the pandemic they cleaned Monday through Friday, but now they're back to cleaning once a week. The appliances constantly break down and I've had maintenance workers in and out of here to repair them. They also do constant unnecessary upgrades and there are contractors in and out of here regularly, even in the middle of a pandemic. I had to tell them to wear masks before entering my unit. I've never lived anywhere where contractors were in my unit on average of every other week until I moved to Lloyd Apartments. Other places I've lived at contract work and upgrades were minimal and minimally disruptive. And do not get me started on the pests. Due to the above mentioned trash issue, rodents and roaches have a free-for-all in the building. The exterminator will come but the effects are temporary. They even have mandatory seasonal pest treatments too. Good luck finding a place to temporarily put your stuff during then, since the recent electric unit upgrades took up bedroom closet and linen closet space. I'll say that the workers are friendly and decent, but that doesn't make for a good living experience. A lot of positive reviews during certain times, like April 2020, are because they posted a message to the tenant portal saying that they'd give people free hand sanitizer for reviews. That's not right. If you have the means, move somewhere better. I will be doing just that when I can finally afford to move somewhere else.
The apartment is beautiful, it is big, the bad thing is all the mice that run from the kitchen to the close to the bathroom and I have killed more than 15 mice but I don't know where so many come from, there are also cockroaches and other tiny insects, no matter how much I clean with chlorine and order as much as I can, the animals do not leave, the bad thing is that they have window air and being with that noise all the time no good and the wall heater is ugly because they control everything, it was nice that One will control the heater, and the maintenance staff if I give them a 10 they are very friendly whenever I call they arrive as quickly as they can, with this I finish that they pick up the garbage at the door is lies ????? ??????? ...
The price is great and the location is okay. Everything else is either fine or awful. Except maintenance. The maintenance staff is lovely. The units are shoddily built, we’ve had our kitchen shelves fall apart because nothing is cut to the right size. Been dealing with mice for months. We’ve given up on management and have been shoving steel wool into holes instead because it’s not worth it. They can be very communicative but they rarely actually do anything. The walls are paper thin and our neighbors are LOUD. I’ve had to invest in noise cancelling ear plugs just to stay sane in my own home. They leave their trash everywhere, and the poor cleaning staff has to deal with their piles of garbage after every weekend. This is a fine place if you can handle noise and bugs and your unit falling apart, since the price is reasonable and there’s a bus stop just off the property. It was a decent transition apartment before the covid pandemic, but actually spending time here has driven me to hate it.

Hello, we would like to thank you for taking the time to give us a review. We appreciate your honesty and would like to invite you to contact our management office and make sure that all of your concerns receive a follow up and resolution. Our goal is to provide our residents with a comfortable living at Lloyd.
I have been living here for the past few years. Will be looking to move out soon. Moved here because it was cheap and close to a lot of things, but wish I'd spent a couple more bucks for something better. Pros: - Great location - Very cheap - Utilities included - (Mostly) nice office staff - Up to date appliances - Maintenance team is very kind and responsive - If you have long-term neighbors (people who've been here for many, many years with no intention of leaving), they're usually really nice and great to get to know - Street parking is free, but also limited parking in spots by your building Cons: - Constantly missing packages - SO MANY MICE!!! No matter how many I catch or how many times I get treated, there's always just so many more. - The laundry facilities are practically unusable (machines broken, machines don't really wash) - Bed bugs - Usually dead roaches in the common hallway - People are CONSTANTLY leaving their trash outside of their apartments when it isn't trash day. In the summer, this particularly sucks because the bags are never fully closed and it always smells like rotten fish. So someone could leave their trash out all weekend and it just stinks up the entire building to the point where I have to put a towel under the front door to stop the stink from coming in. My advice: spend a little bit more money for someplace nicer, ESPECIALLY if they're offering on-site laundry and you can utilize it (unlike here).

I think these apartments are great I’ve been living here 3 years the community is great but I think that some of the different apartments with the bigger living rooms could use maybe a den or office especially with the amount of space in the living rooms management should consider adding them

I moved here because rent was really cheap and I am a bachelor. The staff was helpful and responsive to my emails and calls for maintenance. Read other reviews for info about pests, parking, and other quality of life comments. Worth noting that they are upgrading all the apartments with in-unit air conditioning soon and also wiring each apartment so utility usage can be measured independently. The best part about this place is the great staff who work hard and are friendly.

We are always striving for top-notch customer service for all our residents. It is great to know that you were taken care while you were living here! We are very excited about the upgrades in our community such as the air conditioning and heater system, which is definitely something to look forward to. No matter how much time goes by, you will always be a part of the Lloyd family!
The price of rent with all utilities (minus cable) included is outstanding for the location of the complex. Have lived here for almost 4 years now and it's pretty much exactly what you'd expect for the price. Staff is nice, which is good. Old buildings with thin walls and the basic apartment amenities. Radiators for heat which cannot be controlled from the apartment, and one window unit a/c. Laundry rooms are coin operated and it's about $4 for a wash and dry. They are damp and dirty, and guaranteed to have two or three machines broken at any time. Spiders and other insects are common in my apartment. I've had roaches in the past which was a fun experience, and then came the mice. I've killed over 10 mice in the past 6 months. I've had my apartment "treated" multiple times and the problem only seemed to let up when I spray foamed all of the gaps under the sinks and radiators. I say "let up" because I have still caught mice after sealing the gaps. The apartments allow cats only, even though you'll find a dog or two. Neighbors are usually quiet, there are a few who enjoy a bit of loud music from time to time and the occasional odor of weed seems to fill the stairwell of my building and my apartment. As previously mentioned, the walls and floors are thin so you will hear footsteps and a loud snoring neighbor. Packages started to disappear, so I don't get deliveries here anymore. Parking is awful, I walk 2-3 blocks every night. You will notice dings and dents on your car, just don't park anything expensive! Cars are worked on in the street, and then left there when they cannot be repaired. Right now there is a moped flipped into a bush as well as one without a license plate parked in the road. Neither of which have moved in well over a year. Residents leave trash around the property, especially on weekends. You'll find empty Modelo and Corona bottles scattered throughout the grounds. In summary, the price and location keeps me here, so if that's all that matters to you, it's not too bad of a place.

My first conversation was the staff at Lloyd was to start very informative and professional. Ingrid, one of the leasing professionals took her time showing me the apartment and was subsequently been very helpful with anything i need. The entire staff is very professional and works hard. The apartment is very conveniently located near 395 and for the price it really can't be beat. For the moment all of my request have been taken care of in a timely manner which i appreciate.

I moved into the Lloyd about a month ago. I really love this place. The building is old - but in great shape - hardwood floors are awesome. I have a 1 bedroom apartment and its huge. I have lived around this area on and off for years - and I would definitely recommend living here. The best part about the apartments is the awesome staff, especially Tamara and the crew in the leasing office. The maintenance workers are also very friendly. Super quiet place and close to everything.....I am glad I made the choice to move here

Thank you for recommending our community as well complimenting the staff overall. We will assure you that you will always receive amazing service no matter what!
I’be lived here over a year now and I really love it. The office staff is great, very kind, very respectful. Don’t have call for maintenance more than one time to have anything fixed. A very quiet place to live. Neighbors honesty is what I like the most. I had lost my car key few weeks ago on a snow day and one of the neighbors found it and took it to the office. Rent is really affordable with all utilities included. Great place to live at.

STAY AWAY. Mgmt does not care. Mice! Rats! Requested that management resolve the rodent issue. They claimed that my apartment was exterminated but still seen them in my KITCHEN! They finally killed one and refused to remove the body from my apartment. Worst place in the world. Expect to lose power randomly, minimal heat in the winter and bugs during the summer. I REPEAT DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Hopefully I can save you from my pain. ZERO STARS! Nobody deserves to live like this.

Please do NOT move here. There are lots of rodents (mouse/mice) and roaches problems in this apartment. Stay away from here. IF at all there is a ZERO rating I would give it. But the one star is for the good staff. But if you can handle rats then consider this place.

This place is one of the best deals just outside Arlington. You can not beat the rent which includes the utilities. The apartments themselves are older but very well maintained. The hardwood floors throughout the apartment give the apartments a lot of character. The grounds are well maintained and the maintenance staff is excellent in their response time. The rental office staff is also extremely friendly and quick to respond to any need. I have lived in over 10 placed throughout NOVA and this has been my favorite place to live yet. Wish I could continue to stay here but for work reason I am needing to move. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great deal and experience.

When my husband and I moved here from the midwest, we didn't know anything about the area. We settled first in an apartment where we ended up with terribly loud neighbors (that shook our apartment walls) and lots and lots of cockroaches. Then we found Lloyd apartments. The staff at Lloyd apartments won me over right away - and the fact that they have a quiet policy. You can read it right there in the lease. The couple of times a set of neighbors were too loud after I told the staff the next day, a few hours later that apartment had a note on the door. While living there, we had a couple of issues with water, but the fixit guys there are always at your apartment as soon as they can be and there's an emergency phone number. I appreciated the notes they left to tell me what had been fixed. When I was there when they came, they were always incredibly nice. The buildings are old, so you're not going to get amenities that you would find in newer apartments, but you'll find beautiful hardwood floors, most of your utilities paid for, and constant spraying for pests (seriously, they actually want to keep their apartments free of them!). You can find cockroaches in the laundry/trash rooms and that's about it. The apartment's walls are what you'd expect in old buildings. Basically you only hear things through the front door. We were on the main level and only occasionally heard the upstairs neighbors. The neighborhood is amazing. The apartments are hidden away in a very nice residential area with winding roads and great green yards. There's an elementary school within walking distance. It feels safe. People are out walking their kids to school, or walking their dogs, or walking to the bus. There's this old guy who walks his two white poodles about every day. It's safe. The area more toward the Glebes looks a little rough, but I never encountered anything weird while biking or running on the bike paths - oh yeah, the Four Mile Run Trail is right there. So, biking, running, and all outdoor activities are pretty darn close. And there are deer that live in the grove behind the apartments. For real. We moved because we wanted a two bedroom and we waited for about three months for one to come up before we found something else.

I love living in Alexandria. This is my very first apartment by myself and it is just the right size. The apartment has character and all hard wood flooring, which is also a huge perk. Especially since I am on a tight budget right now, the apartment paying for my utilities is a great feature that Lloyd apartments offer. I would recommend any young person to rent here as it is a great first apartment place to live.

I am going into my second year. This neighborhood has families yet secluded for individuals . The location truly is the center of everything 395 7mins away from DC (I commute to work), five minutes away from Arlington (shirlington area), and Alexandria (del Ray & Potomac yards) 2 mins away). Metro accessible, utilities included, spacious floor plans. Downers: washer and dryer not in unit or every building, a/c unit in one window, heating is by radiators. Uppers: great neighborhood, spacious floor plans, great location (5mins to pentagon city mall, 3mins to shirlington area, two seconds from 395) & metro accessible.

I lived in The Lloyd for a little over a year, and if it wasn't for the bug problems I would've stayed longer. The apartments are great size for the area, and with all utilities included, it was a steal. I really liked the wood floors, and because these buildings used to be old military housing, are built with brick and very, very quiet. My bathroom was also large with built-ins, but during the winter the pipes would get cold and it would be a trial trying to get hot water- I used to fill up pots on the stove and boil water for a hot bath! My biggest complaint, and the reason I would never move back, was that I constantly was bombarded with camelback crickets and water bugs. I was on the first floor over what I assumed was a basement, and these suckers invaded every night and would jump all over my legs when I woke up in the morning. They would even jump on my bed! The maintenance staff would spray, but eventually they just asked me to pour bleach down the drain to try and get rid of the water bugs (which look like huge roaches, by the way). I'm a pretty clean person, and these bugs made my stay at The Lloyd miserable. I'm not sure if they are on the upper floors or not, but I wouldn't even entertain the idea of coming back because of these pests.
