Andrews Air Force Base is a joint military base located about 15 miles southwest of Washington DC. Andrews AFB houses several units of the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, including the 89th Military Airlift Wing, which provides transportation for the presidents and other high-ranking officials. Similar to other military bases, there are a few restaurants and retail stores on base and several commercial centers are nearby for more variety. Great for military families and employees, Andrews AFB offers mid-range to upscale houses, apartments, and townhomes available for rent. Known as the Gateway to the Capitol, Andrews AFB is only a 30-minute drive to downtown Washington DC and residents just have to hop on Interstate 495 or U.S. Highway 337 to access the city.
