History

-

Davie has a history that centers on agriculture. In the early to mid 1900s, ranches were a common sighting, along with orange blossom trees and cowboys on the side of the road opting to travel by horseback. With a current population that grows by the day, housing developments are steadily replacing cattle fields, but you can still see signs of the old life, including the occasional horseback rider. You can also enjoy reveling in Davie’s western traditions, such as bull riding at the Burgeron Rodeo Grounds.

Restaurants

-

Strap on your cowboy boots, and mosey on out for a wild night on the town, because Davie loves to celebrate its cowboy roots. With two country clubs, Round Up Nightclub & Restaurant and Cowboys Saloon & Grill, less than a 5-minute drive away from Arrowhead Condos, you're sure to become a line-dancing pro in no time. At Round Nightclub & Restaurant, arrive early, and join in their free dance lessons, or take advantage of one of their concert events, which in the past have starred artists such as Jake Owen and Uncle Kracker. At Cowboys Saloon and Grill, enjoy a menu featuring savory ribs and burgers, and kids can eat free and line dance with you on family night. You can also party to the wee hours on the main dance floor, at barrel bar tables, in the pop music dance room (for a break from all that country) or with pool cue in hand.

If the country scene isn't for you, Ye Olde Falcon Pub offers some of the most moist and crispy fish and chips by day and a happening scene for 20- and 30-somethings by night. Events such as poker tournaments, karaoke nights, Rock Band sessions and burlesque shows, not to mention the giant Jenga set and beer pong table out front, keep everyone coming back for more.

There are plenty of local options for evening entertainment, and for a nightclub experience that draws the likes of spring breakers, clubs such as America's Backyard and YOLO at Ft. Lauderdale's Las Olas are just a 15-minute drive away on the highway.

All of that partying and a life on the go is sure to work up an appetite, so be sure to swing by LaSpada's for a hoagie called the Monster.

Transportation

-

Situated next to I-595, which intersects with the Turnpike, I-95, I-75 and the Sawgrass Expressway, many find the Arrowhead Condo area extremely convenient for driving just about everywhere in South Florida, from Miami to West Palm Beach. With everything the area has to offer, however, traffic does tend to get a little backed up. Rest assured that until you get to Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood, you don't have to worry about parking on the street or paying a meter. Although driving dominates, there are some sidewalks and crosswalks, and many restaurants and stores are indeed within walking and biking distance. And with a Broward County Transit route that passes by Arrowhead Condos, you can easily walk to a bus stop. If you would like to take a cab, be sure to call a taxi company ahead of time.

Parks

-

Escape the busy streets and stores of Davie by spending some time enjoying nature every now and then at the well-maintained Tree Tops Park. A small entry fee gives you access to boardwalks that hover over marshes, letting you observe turtles and fish or rest your eyes on swamp lilies. Rent a paddleboat to get an even closer view. Join a guided horseback trail ride in true Davie style, walk your dog along one of the many paths, sit on a bench and relax under the shade of the mystical looking trees, stroll through the butterfly garden or climb the wooden observation tower for a spectacular view. You can also rent a pavilion for parties and barbecues and walk the kids to one of the playgrounds.

Cost

-

The cost to purchase a home in Arrowhead Condominiums is about 40 percent lower than the average for other homes in Davie and about 5 percent lower than the statewide average. Renting in Arrowhead is generally about two percent cheaper than elsewhere in Davie, averaging $1,061 per month. Although most of the apartments, townhomes and single-family houses in the development are somewhat older than others in Broward County that have popped up in place of farmlands, many of the condos enjoy exquisite golf course and lake views that are rare to come across in South Florida at such competitive prices.

Despite South Florida’s attractive climate continuing to lure an ever-increasing number of travelers and residents to its neighborhoods, the cost of living in Davie is less than 10 percent higher than the national average, and the cost of gas is only about three percent higher. But fortunately, with so many restaurants competing with each other in close proximity, the cost of many consumables, such as coffee and pizza, is actually lower than in much of America.

Shopping

-

There is no shortage of places to shop in Davie. Arrowhead is even located in the middle of two conveniently close Publix grocery stores, with the option to find discounts at a nearby Walmart marketplace or stock your pantry with responsibly grown organic products at the Whole Foods Market just around the corner. But for a real treat, get the freshest seasonal produce for unbeatable prices at the Brothers Farmers Market, featuring new and strange savory treats such as purple carrots and blue beets.

With shopping centers and the popular Broward Mall filled to the brim with familiar, affordable stores, you don't have to leave Davie to find what you need, but for trendy little boutiques and a more unique shopping experience, head to Fort Lauderdale. Embellish Me Boutique, in the neighboring city of Plantation, continuously updates its assortment of women’s clothing and accessories with a fresh selection not found anywhere else.
