I wouldn't trust walking alone after dark. I have had friends that have been beat up by random people. It is dangerous to walk sometimes in the daylight in certain areas of the city.

The arrowhead etched in the San Bernardino Mountains foothills remains a famous Inland Empire landmark. A phenomenon measuring 1,375 by 449 feet, the arrowhead's face consists of light quartz with a white sage growth. This intriguing landmark has been a San Bernardino Valley symbol for centuries, first to Native American inhabitants, then to pioneers who settled in the area.

Mission San Gabriel established Rancho San Bernardino in 1819. Missionaries provided spiritual help to the Indians and taught them how to plant and irrigate crops. After surviving horse- and cattle-stealing raids, the region began to thrive. San Bernardino was incorporated in 1854.

Home to the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra, the California Theatre of the Performing Arts celebrates musical arts. The orchestra highlights the nation's most prolific composers by hosting the Musical Genius in America concert during Black History Month.

Lake Arrowhead's Rotary Club sponsors the chilling PolaRotary Bear Plunge each February.

Mountain Transit bus service provides public transportation. Locals may also access Metrolink trains at the San Bernardino Station located on West Third Street downtown.

The scenic neighborhood is fairly safe for foot travel. Cyclists also enjoy biking through the region, but must use caution as there are few bike lanes in the area.
