Really a great neighborhood, and great place to raise a family. The inhabitants are primarily elderly or families. Crime is few and far between, the weather is sunny and green, and everything is where you need it to be. The Bardmoor shopping center is very convenient, and other destinations are not but a stone's throw away. Additionally, there are many schools in the area to choose from.

History

-

The gorgeous area was cultivated early on by Native Americans, with Indian shell mounds throughout Pinellas County marking their legacy. Neighborhood development began in the late 1800s and has continued to flourish with economic prosperity through tourism as well as health, financial and manufacturing services. The area enjoys a spot as a year-round tourist destination, with attractions that appeal to singles, couples and retirees alike.

Located just north of the neighborhood, the Armed Forces History Museum makes a great destination for an educational experience that details the military sacrifices made to protect the freedom of Americans. Though many of the exhibits cater to youths, this museum holds something for everyone. A blossoming arts scene grows in the area, with many resident craftsman who their goods at the beach boardwalk. In March, Bardmoor represents itself in Seminole's Pow Wow Festival & Parade that pays tribute to local history and serves as a fundraiser for the area.

Despite the lack of bar quality, the restaurant's amazing cocktail selection and friendly staff make up for it. Enjoy Southern cuisine with shrimp Creole, po-boys and gumbo. Stick with the recognizable seafood dishes for familiarity's sake, but be sure to sample the whiskey bread pudding for a savory twist on the traditional dessert.

For an affordable and delicious meal, enjoy the top-rated pizza in the area at Mama's Famous Pizza on Starkey Road. Providing Italian and American cuisine, the quick restaurant serves distinctive pizza, pasta and sandwiches. Sit it and enjoy a chilled beer, or call ahead for the convenient delivery service. Order the super pizza for a great special, and be sure to get the unique Italian doughnuts for a late-night snack.
