great area to live for people aged 20-50. It's honestly a very mixed community as far as age goes. Liberal, LGBTQIA+ friendly, and fairly safe. Very walkable with lots of great restaurants, bars, shops, and a couple of great grocery stores. Easy commute to almost every other area of Indy from here. Lots of fun festivals/community events as well

Broad Ripple is like a little village within Indianapolis. It used to be known as the post-college party scene in the early 2000's. It still has a bar scene, but many who moved there after college decided to stay and are raising their families here. There are lots of small businesses and restaurants and the Monon trail cuts through the middle of town.

There are a lot of fun restaurants and shops in Broad Ripple. But, I do not recommend going out at night. Also, the roads are not the best in Broad Ripple and traffic can get a little bad. But otherwise, it is a nice small town with lots of fun, especially for a college student.
