Canterbury is a small neighborhood about seven miles north of Downtown Columbus. The neighborhood is also two miles west of Ohio State University, making it a great option for students and university employees. Like most of Upper Arlington, Riverview remained mostly undeveloped until the 20th century. In the early 1920s, wealthy downtown residents and professors from Ohio State University built summer homes in the Clintonville and Riverview area. After World War II, Columbus experienced a population boom, and development began in the Clintonville and Riverview areas to provide the additional housing needed.

Several museums sit south of Riverview in the area surrounding Ohio State University, including the Jack Nicklaus Museum, which details a history of golf, the Museum of Biological Diversity and the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. The downtown area hosts several events throughout the year, including Columbus Winter Beerfest, the North Market Microbrew Festival and the Greek Festival.

Nearby access to Route 315, U.S. Route 23 and Interstate 71, as well as businesses with ample free parking, make driving the easiest option. Residents who don’t drive mainly ride the bus. The Central Ohio Transit Authority operates several bus routes in the area, making it easy to navigate the city without a car. Several taxi cab companies serve the area, but you have to call the company to schedule a ride. Uber also services the area.

In general, residents consider walking a leisurely activities because the majority of the area’s restaurants and stores don’t sit within walking distance. However, the main streets have designated bike lanes, which makes bike riding a good alternative mode of transportation.

Just east of Canterbury, on West Pacemont Road, the Clinton-Como Park features something for everyone. Whetstone Park spans more than 100 acres of land just north of Ohio State University. It features beautifully landscaped gardens, picnic areas and a pond. It also houses a playground, athletic fields, a basketball court, a baseball diamond and Clintonville’s recreation center. Each year, the park hosts the Clintonville Arts and Music Festival, a one-day event that features local artists and live performers.
