Capitol Hill is perfectly located a quick bike ride away from LoDo, the Central Business District, and South Broadway. Cheesman Park is a great outdoor space in the neighborhood. In the summer, there are always activities at Civic Center Park and a nice Christmas market as well.

Capitol Hill is a beautiful neighborhood! Great place to walk around and be outside. There are a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Lots to do during the day and at night.

Capitol Hill is smack in the middle of everything. Whether you want to head to the mountains or to a brewery in RiNo, grab a movie in Cherry Creek or check out Stanley Marketplace in Aurora, you're never more than 15-20 minutes from anything. The only reason it doesn't get 5/5 stars is the neighborhood itself is lacking in solid recreation outside of Cheeseman Park.

History

-

The Capitol Hill neighborhood in Denver, Colorado, has a history that dates back to 1864, when Henry Brown claimed the area's hilltop and reserved a portion of it for the Colorado State Capitol. Following the construction of the Capitol, Brown and J.W. Smith established "Smith's Ditch," in order to distribute water throughout the area. The area soon became sought after by wealthy Colorado residents who constructed elaborate mansions along Grant Street and East Colfax Avenue. The Silver Crash of 1893 lead to a population boom in the area, which resulted in many of the area's mansions being converted into affordable apartment housing. Capitol Hill's population rose again after World War II and the area continues to thrive today.

The Molly Brown House Museum on Pennsylvania Street features historic artifacts, artwork and furnishings owned by Titanic survivor Molly Brown. The museum also hosts special musical events that honor western frontier history.
