History

-

Everett’s neighborhoods share a rich history. Once home to native northwest tribes, the area gave way to mining and industry in the late 1800s and early 1900s, even playing a part in the Klondike Gold Rush. Mostly an industrial area throughout the mid 21st century, revitalization projects transformed the region into an attractive residential community with shopping centers, schools and family homes.

Visit the Historic Everett Theatre to see plays, comedians and bands that make up the theatre’s ever-changing roster of events. The Everett Museum works to keep history alive and to share it in an interesting, engaging way -- often hosting events and exhibitions.

Everett’s healthy art scene is evidenced by galleries and festivals celebrating local artists past and present, and by installations placed throughout the city. The annual Fresh Paint Festival of Artists sees the marina promenade adorned with the work of talented area artists.

Oshima Sushi, a few minutes south of Cascade View on Evergreen Way sits nearly hidden inside a nondescript shopping center. Traditionalists will be pleased with the über-fresh sashimi plate. In a hurry? They also make to-go orders.

Nick’s Jr. Burgers and Gyros, also on Evergreen, serves up a friendly atmosphere and outstanding food. The deluxe burger satisfies even the most primitive burger craving brimming with beef, grilled mushrooms, hickory bacon and loads of fresh toppings including avocado. The gyros are just as good, with ribbons of tender lamb slathered in garlicky yogurt sauce.

You don’t have to go all the way into Seattle for good coffee. RedDoor Coffee Roasters roast and brew their own gourmet beans in-house, providing perfectly prepared coffee drinks every day of the week. Locals run the place, and you’ll always find a warm inviting atmosphere at RedDoor. If you’re in from out of town, make sure to pick up a bag of their signature beans to brew at home.

Cascade View isn't exactly known for its nightlife, but there are plenty of nearby places to sidle up to the bar for a drink and some good times. Downtown Everett offers lots of after-hours fun and with Seattle less than 30 minutes away, the options for revelers are practically endless. If you want to keep things local just head north on Evergreen Way and you'll find the White Buffalo Saloon, perfect for a night of laid-back fun.
