History

The history of the area dates back to the late 19th century when the site was home to an Indian village housing three families. In the early 20th century, the rail system was largely responsible for the expansion of the area and also brought in agriculture, which shaped the community into its present form. League City had a huge boom in the 2000s due to increasing real estate costs in nearby areas of Galveston County, which forced residents into Clear Creek Crossing and its surrounding neighborhoods.

The Butler Longhorn Museum features a unique collection of Western art. The museum tells the story of the iconic breed of Texas Longhorn cattle, which are native to the area. Children can learn about history in a one-room schoolhouse at the West Bay Common School Children's Museum. Kids browse exhibits and artifacts and can even experience school lessons typical of 1898.
