Boise is a wonderful place to raise a family. I grew up here, and could not imagine living anywhere else. The greenbelt and foothills are amazing for outdoor adventures, and the people here are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet. The food is pretty awesome, and prices are pretty low.

Cold in the winters and hot in the summers. Limited rain which can lead to droughts. The valley can get snow in the winter but no more than 6 inches at one time. Few threats of natural disasters but wildfires can be troubling the the foothills and forests surrounding the city. Smoke from fires in neighboring states can also be an issue in the summers. Winter skys are often cloudy and inversions can last for two weeks.

The outdoor recreational activities around Boise are fantastic. There are hiking and biking locations minutes from downtown and the foothills are amazing. Just an hour outside of town there is hiking, rafting, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding and so many more activities.
